  1. I love the retention of the word "nun" in all the names and calling me MacGobbing - oh my aching sides
  2. "Ouch, Sean, that was complicated. It reminded me of C.J.Date discussing the impact of null values on truth tables. Essentially I think you were getting down to what constitutes a proof. Not an easy question (don't ask me). " Well, I'm not looking for proof. I'm not looking for anything. I just want some parity between this idea of God and the absence of any evidence (not proof) at all, and anything else that anyone who fancies it decides to propogate Scientology for example - no proof there either is there? But we know it's nuts right? I just want to know why one is acceptable to say and the other is offensive or blasphemous (to the tune of a 20 grand fine)
  3. It's the "self-styled" bit that raised my eyebrow
  4. Sorry Kato but you aren't making any case here You will have to tell me why that is true. If I say I have xray vision, can heal the terminally ill, can levitate and am quite good at math I'm sure I can find SOME people who will believe me. But most people won't. because it isn't true the people who don't believe me are not acting in faith - they just know bullshit when they see it. They don't have a "faith" of not believing bullshit. They just don't. Ditto with God and or religion. There is NOTHING to support it. Certainly no more than there is to support my (example) powers But if people want to believe it good luck to em. That's faith But It's Not The Same Thing Not believing in a made up/nothing to support it/ is not a faith I might be damned to eternal hellfire if I'm wrong. But I'm not adopting a "faith" Can you don an invisible cloak Kato? No... but it's not faith to say no. It just is and we don't need to have an argument about whether me not believing in invisibility or not is a "faith" Can anyone, on any side of the argument, please explain to me why believing in God is, IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER, different from believing in Jeremy's pasta monster in space. Or Santa Clause. Or fairies at he bottom of the garden. I know lot's of people get succour, and support and help from believing in God. I don't want to take that away from them. But it just doesn't make it true. Some people think that Accrington Stanley will one day be a force in Europe. And they need to believe in that.. but again.. it doesn't make it true and the rest of us can go about our business.. Just don't let Accrington Stanley supporters have direct access to schools, medicine and the legislative process to the exclusion of people who don't share that faith I've over-laboured the whole point. But please - no more "believing in No God is a faith as much as believing"
  5. Thanks to louisiana, I now sing a bit this everytime I see this thread (and yes I know it's the kinks originally)
  6. sophie, I know the spot you speak of but for me, the carnage on the corner of Melbourne Grove opposite the Thai Pavilion every single freakin morning is more bothersome Some eejit puts out several bin bags every night, foxes rip them to shreds. Every night. And I have to walk over this crud. Every morning
  7. depends if I remember to take the cash from the LloydsTSB machine opposite or not ;-) Planning to get there about 9 - mines an Urquell
  8. quids - sorry fella - I didn't think that post crossed with THAT post wouldn't want to fall out before your hollybobs
  9. To my knowledge, we didn't have any MP's posting on here with a sneering, homophobic, misanthropic rant about how it was "all OUR fault if we are so DUMB as to pay taxes nhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhhnhnhnhhnhn!! Only being HONEST!!" And if they did they probably would have been treated a lot worse that our bro' here
  10. don't be soft quids - he hasn't had his post removed because he admits he would keep the cash
  11. your posts are going to be deleted probably consider yourself informed If you want to know why they were deleted have a look at the terms and conditions of forum use
  12. I would definitely agree with the criticisms of it being too long and him being less than endearing. But for all that I still found it valid. The mix of recreations and very personal film footage from the time was another plus for me
  13. Name names wingless bird. Everyone else seems to have made up including Helena. So your problem is....?
  14. * group hug *
  15. ooh look see - a cross post!
  16. Lewishmman Don't feel too upset - I know you are new and feel a bit put upon, and it sounds like there is a lot going on where you are but declan was just being cautious - it's not your fault but several new posters seem to make mischief and he maybe came down on the harsh side. But he's a good egg You will get plenty of support here so stick with it.
  17. I think it's this "WALWORTH ROAD SE17: From 0900 to 1600 on Sunday 2 August routes 12 35 40 45 68 148 171 176 and 468 will be diverted with severe delays while the Carnival del Pueblo passes along Walworth Road and Albany Road"
  18. Seems a weird accusation helena - given the number of replies to lewishham man I havn't seen many attacks. My initial response was to suggest not worrying too much - brothels in South London go back far longer than any of us But if the suspected brothel is dealing in enforced prostitution and trafficking of women then yes, complaints should be made to the police. Can't it be done anonymously? If it is happening regularly, keep a log of times and descriptions and pass it on accordingly
  19. Andy... methinks starmix isn't open to debate But then again, as amajor distributor of hot air.... perhaps we are being harsh
  20. Do you need to do anything Lewishamman? If litter of condoms is a problem stick a note through the door it otherwise, is it really a problem? I have good reason to believe that many years ago the woman living upstairs at the time was a working girl - and the coming and going was sometimes eyebrow-raising. But she was a good neighbour and a lovely person. It didn't impinge on my life really
  21. Ooh I misread your post as well Declan - I thought you said constructed instead of deconstructed. Sorry fella the documentary isn't about the construction of the towers, but does include some footage which I found interesting - the deconstruction of same has been overdone. A tad.
  22. Nowt to do with that series Declan (shame on your disparagement tho!) It's a true story of a tightrope walker who managed to get a cable between the two towers and walk across - but much more interesting than that sounds
  23. You asked me around dude.. I didn't know you were going to tell the whole world!
  24. terrific documentary, shot like a thriller in places and with some stunning footage of the twin towers in NY being constructed I'm recommending it btw
  25. Anyone use glass-cutters? I hear that's quite a good way to get hold of household-goods
