  1. It doesn't exist yet, but I've had the same thought that patent will cost you tho...
  2. yes yes yes, I know about other examples in other industries (although I would argue that the staff at London Underground, and Ken, were better judges of what was needed than management) But in the specific example of the NHS...
  3. I wouldn't say it's getting worse - but it is an imprecise tool because of the nature of moving so many people around London. What were the details of the journey?
  4. * raises eyebrow * Isn't the great militant force here the governments many misguided attempts to marketise the NHS? But I'm open to hearing examples of the "militant workforce" preventing positive change...
  5. way re: John Hughes - heard it on the radio this morning yeah, rewatched the Breakfast Club again recently with a first timer - I wouldn't go so far as to say I "sided" with the teacher but.. erm... well.. yes.. time hasn't been kind I forgot about dance sequences in those films as well.
  6. No you didn't need to explain that curly, I got the implication - But I'm saying speak for yourself in claiming to speak for or about mankind as a whole
  7. In light of Honaloochie's comments re: Jono Coleman I did a quick search before starting a thread and was thrilled to be reminded that the lovely Bellenden Belle shares the hate "I am only relieved that Jono Coleman has left the London breakfast show. He was like an overgrown schoolboy - I found myself SCREAMING at the radio... "
  8. It runs and I use it fairly regularly these days Journey planners are Oooo kaayyy ish, but left to default settings they will suggest multiple routes I've just asked it for a direct route to Clapham on Sunday, With buses only and it has come back with the 37 for every journey, no changes It used to be a shocking service, frequency wise, but it is much better of late
  9. methinks we are off topic, but I am so worked up on this I may resurrect/restart a radio thread Dulwich Tandoori (note to Mike Paeleologous, NOT East Dulwich Tandoori ;-) ) are always evry nice to me, even when I pass them on the street. And the food is fine
  10. Went again last night yep, last night.. the night with the open skys. Biblical rain, and the top floor of a car park in Peckham. I know how to live I tell ya I still like it and will miss it when it's gone next month
  11. thank you My Lord
  12. HlB I'm not joking when I say I whooped when I read that last post I don't know why I stuck with the station after that but never ever have I felt so faithless in the human race. making Joanne Good look like a towering intellectual is an achievement in itself I suppose but Jono Coleman is the living embodiment of ... nothingness And he persuaded management to let him play music on a talk show, only to play the most asinine, cliched rubbish ever. And at 6:55am as well - gone but not forgotten
  13. "they chase the minions below " aka: fecal gravity.
  14. Shawshank definitely - but end the film before the VERY last scene. ick Ferris Bueller (RIP John Hughes today btw) Trees Lounge
  15. I was too subtle... next time I'm using smileys all over the shop
  16. Do you guys really believe I didn't notice both dates? It was a joke, people
  17. Speak for yoursef curly
  18. * ban request for Dave R * He's showing us all up
  19. Back to the topic Why do you think there is a gagging order on society - most of the topics you mention are routinely discussed on here, on the news, radio phone ins etc. Where is the gagging order? If you mean you aren't allowed say certain things - say for example, "I don't like immigrants" then that is not only blind prejudice but historically scary If you say you think they are having a negative effect on the country, you have to do better than just say that - you have to engage in a debate. You have to ask are the English themselves immigrants anywhere. Do they have to be repatriated to England. How would that work? etc... But a gagging order - don't be so hysterical
  20. not really offtopic Moos - the question isn't how much the contractor gets, it's how much the NHS pays And if it's paying ?1000 a day to someone to figure out ways to not waste money.... (times however many people they have doing this) there is an argument to be had that it isn't short of cash, but it is directing it wastefully
  21. No doubt it's a going rate, but an organisation that can pay that rate is not entirely out of cash As for how much "data analysis, market comparison and offer strategic solutions" is needed for an organisation where people get sick/broken at arbitrary rates (as opposed to growing a business) I'm also unsure
  22. R&A The message was a big help to me yesterday as well - thanks R&A - the road was still closed at 6:30 so I popped across to Waterloo and my journey time wasn't affected at all really The bus driver was at pains to point out to everyone on the south side of Blackfriars bridge about the problems and that the bus would be diverting so anyone who wanted to get off now should get off now - and only when the bus turned down towards Waterloo did everyone look up and start shouting at the poor fella. You can lead a horse to water etc...
  23. It's a fairly simple question ask isn't it Huguenot "How skint is an organisation if they can shell out up to a grand a day on a single consultant?" If savings can be made by closing down areas, or efficiencies made - does it need someone on that kind of wedge to come up with the ideas? And are they not as likely to make headline-grabbing savings to justify that kind of money, regardless of the long-term effects
