is it just me who, when I read that saw lozzyloz look like http://www.me.ntu.edu.tw/~matador/logo.jpg and Brendan as http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/marveldatabase/images/thumb/e/ed/Man_Bull_001.jpg/200px-Man_Bull_001.jpg
  4. On the off chance that MW isn't up to speed and at the risk of patronising - a quick summary Forum was down for best part of two days - PROPER down. Server upgrades and everything Several people saw an opportunity to be the first to post when it came back up - to hammer home the point, ruffers even called the thread "First" I tried to panic Keef into thinking the upgrade reset the number of posts (well, it worked once before) HlB swerved the thread with references to some of the more popular-if-slight threads and threw an ABC reference in for good measure So I took the bait and quoted a line from an ABC song Then you came crashing in as ever with your trademark surely-on-a-macro-key-by-now "what the @#$%& going on????????? "
  5. NEWS JUST IN! ALSO, NIGHT FOLLOWS DAY! Sorry to hear that NNewton - I have (dozily) done the same thing twice. First time the person caught me up, second time the machine just took the cash back in and I was able to get it back.
  6. God, i had been looking forward to this for days - I was just in that "time for a curry" frame of mind - and it didn't disappoint one little bit. I think about 9 people made it along last night (average number - but I know there are a lot more curry lovers out there - why don't you guys come along to these?). I will take on the red Chicken Handi again someday but last night was not the right time The staff were in good form as well - in particular "Dave" had an interesting chat with us about the forum. Now if only they would rent the old Woolwich Bank space up the road and open a proper swanky place
  7. The phrase "romantic" was ruined for me by my English teacher (stop it at the back!) when he pointed out it mean "unrealistic" rather than.. you know...
  8. bit of a hack piece that tho isn't it PGC? And the comments posted by people afterwards are scary too Pubs are in decline - but for many more reasons than the article cares to show. People are a lot better off than they used to be - a pub was an escape hatch. these days more people are happier with the home comforts - it's not Labour, the Tories or Europe.. it's (as ever) people themselves
  9. aaaaaaaaaand I say maybe
  10. I wondered if this would occur What upsets me most is that our postinsg count has been reset to zero - which at least puts me back on level pegging with keef (surely he won't fall for it this time - not again!)
  11. well, quite

    .

always easier to ask for forgiveness than it is permission
  13. be fair AfN - I have been banging on about how ace the Duke is for months now.. I don't think I can be accused of Nunheadism.. or whatever it's called ;-)
  14. They are coming thick and fast.. Ant - take a bow sir
  15. Have I posted ben Goldacres blog about the scary lady before? Tis gold I tell thee
  16. how in the name of all that's good and holy is this still in the ED section? And as for you, Strawbs, wait till I see you next...
  17. He is good isnt he rosie? Saw him in a policemans social club in edinburgh. . Great stuff
  18. Not sure who is behind it but they had a good manager with Nick but as ever with that site, getting people in proved tricky. hence we had the "promise" of Monday Madras Madness nights with the next manager... Not sure who the current lot are but having "had a word" with previous managers I doubt it would make much difference at Duke HQ
  19. That's why I said you hadto be kidding - it didn't even sound like your normal self BB
  20. Please tell me you are kidding boos Bad enough that it's not the half-empty buses you are talking about, but full on rush-hour waits - but if you seriously think cars can get that many people around the streets of London with any combination of traffic-light phasing you care to choose you are deluded
  21. As someone who has praised the Duke consistently from it's reopening, with Nick as the manager, I have kept quiet after a few wobbly visits, but yesterday's meal was a nail in the coffin for me I did write a long diatribe but it identifies me to easily - but too many things were plain wrong or inpet for me to want to visit again in a hurry. I'm gutted really as I wanted that place to do well and it started very impressively
  22. fair dues keef, and I'm not surprised you didn't need telling. But I hear people on the radio and TV all the combine the two just to make their own point when it suits them and it hacks me off.... So when I saw it again, even knowingly, I thought I would stick my oar in
  23. Sean Lock is a good shout as well Keef - top bloke
  24. who mentioned the environment Keef? I know congestion if often conflated with environmental issues (and sometimes correctly so) but congestion is sometimes just about getting more people around more quickly - bikes (manual and motor) and buses can clearly do that better than cars - smart cars are a start tho I agree. But you have to draw the line somewhere re: us lanes or the whole point of them becomes moot. As thinsg stand I'm unsure about wether I think motorbikes using them is a good thing or not
  25. I have no idea if its boris related but its definitely not just you james. As you say the last couple of weeks have seen a major drop in frequency.
