  1. I would love to do this - but My brother is a landlord in Wimbledon and a HUGE Pool fan so have commited to going there - anyone else ore than welcome
  2. drink drink drink again, raise your glass higherrrrr!!! Congrats to Polly D on the job - which part of town you cycling to now? Congrats to Keef and Mark - I have never know so many neutrals be on the Reds side Welcomes back Mike to these parts Wonders if Nero REALLY hasn't been here before - not sure I can be faffed to check 20+ pages
  3. Cheers Keef - I did not even know that! - took me a while to find the relevant link too I am a rational guy usually.!
  4. I've been to Bovey a few times - I lived in Exeter for 3 years and a village near Ottery St MAry called Whimple for 3 years as well...
  5. Elfy/Yams I know - I'm sorry - I did go off on a bit of a one about an earlier post when lot's of people are just making the point, as you say, of how much easier it would make things That earlier post had been deleted but some of the points had been rumbling about in my head since then.. I've reread it again and wish I had held off posting it truth be told - - but it's out there now. I THINK I nearly made the point that if shopkeepers want to meet the needs of people wanting to shop a bit later that they should be able to and not prevented by any controls.. but it got lost amongst the general din
  6. Devon beckons... not only did I live there for 6 years and not only do the in-laws live there but some good friends have just moved down from London so ... all the things people are doing in ED but far away!
  7. phew - found the edit button (long post deleted)
  8. Mogs You don't put the friern god into any scrabble player with that score ;-) Neighbour
  9. Keef! Keeeeef!!! Talk to us.. Well done mate
  10. Ha Ben - bless you.. I didn't mean to imply that I LOVED that blasted thing - it was just something I got back in the day and thought people would find funny Musically there is very little on there of worth - although Marc Almond's take on Like a Prayer is pretty darn good
  11. I have the Mission doing Atomic - strange 3CD NME compilation from 1993 of bands doing covrs of #1 songs - oddities such as Ride doing The Model and Vic Reevs doing Vienna....
  12. if this enters "funny street name" territory I can see it being lounged Have to echo Paul's comments - having lived in all 4 corners of London over 17 years (as well as other places) I have never seen the mix I have in ED...
  13. I had you down for an 80s boy as soon as I met you Nero!
  14. Bagpuss - lol ! I did a treble-take on that thinking Admin had gotten very harsh
  15. Mark On the exclusions front I would say that every business should be included - best Indian restaurant for example might have won for it's food and price and not for service? Just my thought on it I agree the spread of shop TYPEs is quite wide which makes it hard to equate tho...
  16. Dior Homme (made me very popular in San Francisco.. this time last year as well)
  17. Keef WOuld love to join you for moral support tomorrow night but looks like we have visitors - best of luck is all I can offer!
  18. This is all hypothetical anyway - my impression of everyone on this forum is that after the weekend we have had a period of sobriety might be in order ;-) Summer + Budvar + way home from work = 1 fine reason to live in ED Herne Hill will be more of a destination night out when it opens Any news on a name yet Scott?
  19. Lady G Bit of an odd one this for me as since I got the HD box I tend to watch games at home (and enjoy scaring people as I do so - I am not a quiet watcher!) But I sometimes prefer the IDEA of watching in the pub but the selection at the moment isn't all that great EDT - the screen needs sorting - hurts my eyes Mag - better screen but somtimes I feel as if I'm the only one watching Castle - I used to go there for teh Champion#s League games ONDigital - ah memories... but again no atmosphere for Arsenal games (Celtic or Ireland games are another story!) Plough - ok just kidding with that one CPT - actually I used to like going there for football sometimes In any case I'm in Devon for the Chelsea game this weekend - soz
  20. Keef I'd say you were unlucky - I'm in there at least once a week and have usually had a solid pint. What I notice with Budvar is that if it's not 100% it's flavour and make up make the "flatness" more apparent - I just wrote that and it doesn't make sense to me but I know what I mean by it..
  21. Not sure I agree with the sentence "if you don't have kids why would you go there anyway" but apart from that I can only agree with Rob. Went down there on Sat afternoon with friends - not a child between us - and sat in the garden for 3 very blissful hours listening to the generall hubub of people (and kids). A choice of 3 very different ciders as well as ales made the drinks side spot on and although we weren't going to try the food, the smell from other tables weakened our collective will and that too was spot on. And a shout out to the staff too who served us - it was a busy old time and they were under strain but always pleasant. Not sure if the kitchen should close at 3pm tho - that did seem a bit old school
  22. I read this today - source: a well known scurrilous gossip email Name of the London restaurant in which person cut off own genitals this week - Zizzi. Children's slang name for genitals in French - Zizi.
  23. What's the name of that pub in Hitchin with a side bar called The John Peel bar or something... Haylehaye - you mean Big Fish? I normally allow Tim Burton plenty of leeway but was disappointed with that one: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0319061/ Have to agree with the violence in PL - I was expecting something more than average fantasy fare but holy moly. he had it coming tho in fairness... Should we consider changing this thread name in light of the fact we are all suffering and depressed on account of the fact it's not Friday? Are people quizzing tonight? (see Magdala quiz thread)
  24. * prepares confession * * sometimes I open a bottle of wine..... irreligiously * * does it taste better? darn tootin! *
  25. Nero You beat me to it.. was going to print out the thread and show her.. Glad she is happy as well.. I have a feeling she has a very hard time
