  1. Computer games? Music? Oh ffs. Let's blame books. And then cinema. That's what previous generations did. Dreadful thing to happen but rushing to find an easy answer is worse
  2. Dammit woman - quoting my messages after I thought better of leaving it up!! Fair play. But I still think you and most other posters on here are way off beam. I'm minded to think 8 and 5 are a leeeetle bit young but then again there are 8 year olds who are savvy and smart. If I knew the parents I might bring it up in conversation but the bile and condemnation on here and everywhere else is grim stuff If more people did what these parents did then SE London might be a little. teeeny bit more like the utopian villages mentioned earlier on the thread. These parents aren't branding children with pokers, or not feeding them for weeks on end if I was a gambling man I would bet a fair whack that these two kids don't end up as stay at home 30 somethings wondering where their tea is. The world needs more of this not less
  3. most of the posts on this thread are the very reason I don't want to become a parent. It appears that I will have to agree with most people posting on here or face prosecution. Lovely options Anyone who wants to spend every minute of every day with their kids is free to do so - but it's not mandatory. Who the F*** are ye to judge other parents so (to the point of prosecution?? They aren't branding their children with pokers FFS) DulwichMum - if the parents weren't middle class and were jumped on? You have heard of 2 wrongs not making a right? And prosecuting the McCanns? That says everything about the judger and nothing about the McCanns. The rest of their lives isn't punishment enough? You thing prosecution is some kind of deterrent or punishment? "Well I WAS going to risk having my child abducted but f*** it when I heard there was a jail sentence involved I thought better of it" Never have I felt more like walking away from this place
  4. Cherry Ghost (new album out today) are the support for that gig as well Annasfield - very very good indeed. I can't go myself but I'm definitely recommending it to anyone wavering
  5. Aye MP - we normally hear about now don't we. hang on tho some news I agree things do get too busy at Horniman and the traffic last year basically closed the road later In the afternoon. But then again there was a special atmosphere at the Gardens
  6. I'm very careful with that disguise quids, I could do without you blowing my cover
  7. I follwed Quids' recommedation re Tarifa and Da Luz just last month. I didn't wait until I got back... I thanked him whilst I was there.
  8. Dorothy - not sure Admin is able to answer questions for a while but that was a good spot by you - those subheadings were there from the early days of the forum when it wasn't quite the unwieldy beast it is now (size wise)
  9. Jaysus... Just how many tinnies did you get in today Mick?
  10. multiple threads on the same subject - feel free to continue discussion here
  11. KK and Steve - have a look at Ted Max's post a few centimetres above. That's the nub of the matter really isn't it? No-one is insulting steve because he is against vandalism and burglary per se... just that perhaps there is a measure of overreaction here we don't know for SURE they were vandalising do we - they possibly were and if so that's a shame. But "dregs of society"? And many a non-liberal can recall the days when they went trespassing without telling their folks and ultimatel causing SOME damage.. somewhere alongthe path to adulthood. Perhaps you never did but then it will be me asking for that travelcard to Utopia
  12. ?m being a bit devil?s advocate to be fair penguin. As I?ve said on the thread already I?m not advocating killing foxes on site, they don?t bother me at the moment (and I have had cubs and parents lounging in my garden before) but equally the argument ?they have every right to exist, they were here before us etc? which is forwarded by some on here, doesn?t stand up on it?s own No, foxes won?t be the same problem as mice but if numbers continue to grow unchecked then there will be a whole bunch of other problems to deal with somewhere down the line
  13. An awful lot of threads on this forum about getting rid of mice ? there doesn?t seem to quite as much ?live and let live? philosophy on those threads

  15. Possibly the only time I may disagree with both simonm and citizened at the same time. Thinking that the lampard goal standing would make a material difference is wrong. And England were easily 4.1 bad. As they have been the whole tournament. You may as well say France were hard done by in going out so early Goal aside, is anyone saying the wrong team went through today? I won't be upset if capello goes by the way but I wouldn't ascribe too much blame. English managers come and go... Foreign managers come and go.. All with various methods but the same nucleus of a team survives each one and underachieves. So the blame is with them.

  17. Now now. I'm not suggesting no planning laws. Just application of common sense and not objecting just because something MIGHT fall down
  18. I'm with Marmora Man on this
  19. Quids... I'm a teensy bit emotional after reading that
  20. Ruffers? Where do you live? I have bags of rubbish with which I can illustrate the point with
  21. Reviews suggest they lost big parts of the crowd, but then they were always going to. No question parts of the set looked flat on tv but they just aren't the kind of act to appeal to the crowd who gather in front of pyramid stage on a friday night. I think albarn knew that as people who spoke to him say he was unusually nervous all day But they were late replacements and they put on a great show i thought
  22. Exactly this.
  23. I've avoided the 12 and indeed the whole Barry/Friern Rd area since Bryan warned us of giant rabbits
  24. Mick... You just. Will. Not. See. Anything. Like. This. Again It's not just big serves on grass
  25. But the rules have worked until today. And they will work again. This is unprecedented. The rules might change on the back of it but what we are witnessing will never happen again either way
