dancey remix suggests an upbeat-ness of that K&D remix that just isn't there ! A great great remix that one tho... Will it pass? probably - but you will return to the good stuff from time to time. Nowt wrong with it either so less of the worrying please Some of the lesser albums (eg Exciter) still have some of the best tunes - I'm a big fan of Freelove off that album. And pretty much all of their singles have oooooh 10 remixes by different people which can drag the arse out of the thing but equally can throw up a gem If you want playlist recommendations I'm happy to contribute my tuppance worth

for someone on the sauce, a mostly decent effort and not even any editing... I tend to not bother replying anymore when you so easily reach for the cliche handbook (metropolitan elite, Guardian yadda yadda - you can make the same points just as easily without. In fact metropolitan is used in one paragraph by you to differentiate teh elite from middle classes and then you talk about metropolitan middle-classes - ita all becomes a bit blancmangey) I didn't think the article itself was anywhere near good enough to warrant such a long reply mind you - as you say it was a "poor piece of journalism" I would take issue slightly with the "equality" argument tho. Unless I'm misunderstanding there is an assumption that whilst we obviously can't all have the same slice of pie, the smallest slice is still sufficient? I'm reluctant to engage on the point really for fear that it will be labelled dogma but if trickle-down does work in any meaningful way then I'll happily buy it - but I'm really not convinced (and I am looking) Not sure I totally buy your final point either - but suspect some genuine real-life examples to support you wouldn't be too hard to find. Personally, and just from observation rather than data so I'm happy to be corrected, I think some societies (and I would say Ireland and England are in this category) are more grasping and less cooperative than others. So things like class, left/right politics all become noisy battlegrounds with everyone pointing the finger at everyone else - be it people who think they are entitled to benefits, to pushy middle-class parents, to the likes of execs like Crozier. This doesn't mean there is an Eden somewhere else - everywhere has pros and cons of course But vince!! before we automatically rage at politicians who say how brilliant they are - have a think about how democracy works. Someone (could be you! It won't be but it could be) thinks they can no longer just complain about the world but wants to put themselves to the local electorate on a platform to change things. By necessity you have to emphasise your strong points - it doesn't mean you are "brilliant" but it means you have some ideas which you hope to implement. Should you be elected you are then faced with the many many competing demands for your time, the money available to you and any other levers of power you have. Some of ideas will not make it. That shouldn't mean that everyone who votes for you automatically gets to call you a charlatan But that's the system - if you have a better idea then the world would benefit from hearing it

Oh quids, join me... What excatly are you listening to? I'm finding the latest album to be something of a surprise after 2 particularly patchy efforts. Hard to beat the Violator/Songs of Faith and Devotion combo tho

Funnily enough I'm with his philosphy of not going out and buying, just because. To allow young players to come through they must have room and time to play What has happened with that however, is those players have not stepped up. To get spanked once at home is no great shame. But Chelsea and Man U keep coming to the Emirates and crucifying us. I applaud Wenger's faith in the players and I wouldn't retrospectively change much - apart from maybe getting a keeper in. Saying get James in is all very well but you don't have to have a vivid imagination to imagine him making mistakes in crucial games as well On top of that, in the longer run Arsenal will be in rude health and Man Utd will be in big trouble financially. When the time comes for Wenger to go (or get pushed) we will look back on seasons where we finish in the top 4 regularly with fondness

has he not given Utd some credit? I'm pretty sure he has said a couple of times how well they played and singled out Rooney but yeah his focus is (rightly and unusually) on berating his own players for once

3.1 flattered us I thought

French discussion on female headgear
SeanMacGabhann replied to Eversfield's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Ah yes Britons - with their fine record of adhering to "when in Rome"?.. whether it's sex on Saudi beaches stag parties across Europe not bothering to learn the languge living in Spain - but quite good at taking over whole towns with Red Lion pubs and food -
I think MM was exhibiting knowing self-awareness Anna

KK - that sounds like one of Britain's historical traits and is in fact part of it's identity to (the same identity you profess is lacking) to me. It's certainly preferable to going around the world, invaiding countries and telling them how to live what? -
coffee beans and their production - that's where the cost is

elliekp and kpc (and anyone else thinking of coming for the first time) fear not, you'll have a great time and everyone is welcoming. The Black Cherry is quite a good venue for first timers as well as it's obvious who the EDF party is (at the back of the bar down in the hollow) I'm at a friends birthday in Herne Hill that night but hope to show my face for a little while

Southwark Council leaflet dropper - unbelieveable!
SeanMacGabhann replied to ryedalema's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
well, yes, this fella is a rude fecker (maybe not as rude as NickW) and no being in a crap and badly paid job doesn't excuse rude behaviour BUT yeah, I am inclined to be more tolerant to badly paid people in genuinely soul-sapping jobs. And nothing much happened here other than a slightly rude encounter which lasted seconds.. but people have escalated it with emotional phrases such as "your home" and "children" being present - it's all mountain and mole-hill stuff really isn't it? (something I think the OP has even alluded to?) -
after last nights Mock The Week, Quids = John Bishop

Well, if you have to go THAT extreme...

Giggirl a post to remind me why I love this place. And you. Marvellous stuff

I'm in agreement with the lovely Ms Trotter above heading for 30 was (melo)dramatic and angsty - 31 and onwards has been a revelation and 40 was no bother at all (in fact it was blast - in no small part thanks to many people of this parish) 41 is so far so good too. I may start looking for a pause button in a few years tho'

I'm not sure being a knight of the realm makes anyone a great man And I'm not sure banning sky from your conferences (as of this week) because they replayed the rio incident is teh sign of a great man either (Wenger complained about sky repeating teh Gallas tackle but he didn't BAN anyone) But a great manager Fergie most definitely is

Curry Club - Thursday 7 March 2019 - venue TBC
SeanMacGabhann replied to Michael Palaeologus's topic in The Lounge
Judging by facebook updates, Jaws is "coming to terms" with her first Naga encounter, but I had a grand evening EDF poster and Swadesh head honcho - happyman - and his team looked after everyone in grand style. The menu at Swadesh is interesting in that it's short and selective rather than the usual a million-dishes-with-small-variations approach and my chef's special delivered on it's promise of hot, sweet and sour tastes The rstaurant itself is also looking sharp compared to it's previous incarnation and was nicely busy on a freezing January evening. It is competing in the same game as the other curry houses on the Lane rather than doing anything truly different - it's no Tayyabs for example - but it's definitely one of the better ones locally. and I'll be back -

I'd be inclined to go "can there be any job more thankless than a leaflet dropper" and put it down to them having a bad day and let it be myself... -
I'm going to risk Smiths fans displeasure and say Meat is Murder is not great. And to be honest that first album is patchy too
