  2. kpc - good choice with Topper. He performed admirably on some of the funk-influenced stuff like Train in Vain and Lost in the Supermarket... nice hi-hat rolls and stuff. I like the drumming on Armagideon Time, too.
  3. Mockney, I really have to pull you up on the Phil Collins thing. His drumming has never been more than workmanlike as far as I can tell. I challenge you to name a Genesis track which will change my mind. Not a big Lars Ulrich fan, he certainly hits the drums hard, but there's no flair, subtlety, or inventiveness. I guess their music doesn't really call for it though. Everett Morton from The Beat... now there's a drummer. Stewart Copeland. Mitch Mitchell. Brooks Wackerman.
  4. This is going to sound cruel, but... anyone innocent enough to fall for this scam probably shouldn't use a PC or the internet at all. They're leaving themselves wide open.

  6. China does not have "economic efficiency". It has an undervalued currency and a vast population to man their factories. It also has massive social inequality. It is not a model we can - or should - aspire to.
  7. bloody Flea... bloody Chilli Peppers... bunch of arse. Dream lineup... Bob Mould on rhythm, Josh Caterer on lead (if he can put the bible away for a few minutes), the songs would practically write themselves. Josh Freese would be the obvious choice on drums. Probably wouldn't sell as many tickets as the stones though.

  9. Oops... shows how closely I've been following the fallout of the expenses scandal...
  10. Without wanting to sound too much like SteveT... an overhaul of the MPs second home expenses would be a strong symbolic gesture, even if it is a drop in the ocean. A cap of something like ?1200 pcm would seem sensible.
  11. Thanks, but I am referring to the section furthest from the main station building, on plaforms 14/15/16. These are not undercover at all, so there is a clear need for drainage.
  12. Better drainage on the London Bridge platforms would be great. When it rains, deep muddy puddles accumulate on the uncovered sections... it's quite minging. I wouldn't have thought it would be hard to fix.
  13. The ITV reporting of this whole incident has been sub-tabloid standard. The other day, their lead story was that they'd got exclusive footage of the murderer on holiday, months before the shootings, looking "happy".
  14. I don't get it. If I wanted to buy a flat in East Dulwich, I'd look on findaproperty, find 5-10 that looked nice, and choose one. The whole concept is daft.
  15. eater81 - why don't you live in the countryside if you love it so much?
  16. There are also times when buyers are naive and expect everything to be perfect... e.g. if there's a flat TV hung on the wall, they don't realise there's going to be a hole when it's taken away.
  17. HB - that is the start of the joke. The punchline is that they don't apply for the job, because there are only two of them.
  18. What are their sausages like?

    pissed off

chichi - if you've got something to sell, stick it on ebay instead of moaning on here! Huguenot - brrrap!
  20. I emailed them about it today. They are awaiting planning permission, and are hoping for an answer by the end of the month. If it gets granted, they'll start the building work then.
  21. I tried some of Chilli Pepper Pete's "Satan's Shit" sauce at a food show once. Just the tiniest of blobs on the tip of a cracker. I needed water. Quickly.
  22. Interesting stuff Hal, is that law still in effect? What do people do who - you know - want to rent a flat?
  23. That would seem like a good start.
