  1. Huguenot, it's not St Reatham. It's even worse than that. She lives in... Surrey Quays.
  2. My girlfriend's brother bought a Wii back from Hong Kong a few months back. We all gathered round in her flat, enthusiastically playing the bowling game - which was fun for 10 minutes. But then my arm started hurting. And I pointed out that there was a real bowling alley a 5 minute walk away, which is a lot more fun.
  3. I may consider trying it. But the last place I tried based on recommendations from this Forum was Surma. So you will understand if I treat the above reviews with a touch of cynicism...
  4. Megadrive? SNES? Not sure about these new-fangled consoles!
  5. Daley Thompson's Decathlon! http://www.doyouremember.co.uk/spectrum/daley.asp
  6. I actually think that the cheap little place (is it called Cafe Noodle or something?) does better food then chopsticks or Mr Liu! That's not saying much though. As for Wagamama - it's not the best, plenty of places do nicer Japanese style noodles - such as Edo in Crystal Palace/Upper Norwood (or whatever that place is called).
  7. There are still a couple of shops on LL which are empty / borderline derelict. The one next to the butchers springs to mind...
  8. I went into this place a few months ago. As I walked out with my chicken-fillet-in-a-bun-with-fake-mayo, the guy behind the counter exclaimed "I hate my life!". Poor fella.
  9. I actually went to Surma last night. The famous Taba dish was quite tasty but swimming in fat, as was my girlfriend's curry. The Quail starter sounded interesting, but was actually very dry and had little flavour - and there was only one on the plate, despite being described as "quails" (ie plural). The naan bread was very nice though. Basically this is just a run-of-the mill high street indian, and I cannot see why anyone would think this is a better restaurant than Tandoori Nights! And if you go for the house specials such as the Taba, it is just as expensive. I would also add that the service was very slow (about 45 mins for our starters to arrive), although the waiter was very apologetic. And the decor towards the back of the restaurant is in a very bad state - crumbling plaster and flaking paint. If others like this restaurant I guess that's fair enough - each to their own - but I will not be returning! J.
  10. Bob - you can book in Tandoori nights! It is 50% more expensive than a lot of curry restuarants, but a lot of people don't mind paying extra for a nicer meal...
