  1. I'm no fan of property investors, but if the place was really in such a state, I doubt many families would want to take it on!
  2. TJ Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They don't get paid commission. Its an urban myth > and illegal to incentivise parking wardens. I always thought they were, but maybe you're right. A quick bit of googling indicates that they have targets/quotas to meet, and their jobs are in danger if they don't. Surely that's just as bad, if not worse!
  3. Were you - as the ticket implies - next to a dropped kerb? If you were, then it's a fair cop!
  4. I always thought Danny Dyer was a complete tool, but I could never work out how true to life his media persona really is.
  5. I don't see why they need cars in the first place. A bicycle or scooter - or even travelling on foot - would be perfectly adequate.
  6. I think we need a common consensus on the definition of "famous" here...
  7. There arean't enough furums around if you ask me.
  8. I once heard of a pet baby tortoise getting carried away by a crow.

    Scum vs Scum

No, if you listen to the so-called-conversation which immediately follows, "how many is there of us" makes much more sense.
  10. I like the Sea Cow, I've always had fresh fish cooked to order. It doesn't seem much more expensive than Emily's (probably cheaper if you go for the coley), and the batter is much more crispy. Personal taste, I guess.

    Scum vs Scum

At first I thought he was saying "how many of your are robbers", but then I decided it was actually "how many are there of us".
  12. I am in a similar position - but I bought the freehold after moving in. Repairs to the roof or common areas would definitely be the responsibility of both flats. The freeholder is in no way obliged to pay for any maintainence. Your solicitor will be able to advise more clearly, but it really isn't a problem. If you don't want the freehold, you will probably be able to sell it on at auction for a few grand (although I'm not necessarily recommending it).

    Scum vs Scum

I wouldn't be surprised if he was sacked, seeing that the BNP are seeking a more mainstream image these days. I had a look at Bob Bailey's profile on the BNP site this morning, but it seems to have been taken down now. Apparently he is an ex marine, his favourite food is a sunday roast, and his favourite holiday location is England.

    Scum vs Scum

I listened back to the clip about 10 times last night trying to work out what Bob Bailey was saying at the start. I think it's something like "how many are there of us"... i.e. warning the kids that they're outnumbered. The kid obviously should not have spat at him, but there's no way he should have reacted like that. I would expect our politicians/councillors to be able to rise above it and show some constraint - especially as he knew there was a camera on him. But no, he couldn't wait to get stuck in and administer a good kicking. He is a nasty piece of work.
  15. Was he Greek as well?
  16. SteveT Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Then why are you forever bringing it up Jeremy? There was me thinking that you brought it up, Steve... and I was merely challenging your post. Thanks for clearing that one up.
  17. I don't understand what immigration has to do with the subject of this thread. Are those nasty immigrants responsible for the financial crisis? I am also confused about the "illegal immigrants who are allowed permanent tenure". Surely if they are allowed to be here then they are not illegal... right?
  18. first mate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > would you mind if she was doing a spot of crack in the bushes? Firstly - the chance of this being crack (instead of something rather more harmless) is pretty remote. Although some people clearly think all "drugs" are the same. Secondly - of all the things I would worry about teenagers getting up to, smoking weed is fairly low down.
  19. You didn't "inhale the acid"? Now I know this thread is a wind-up! Snorky?
  20. The only bar in the area?
  21. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So leaveriging up yourself massively to make risky trades, as an investment bank Lehmans did, isn't risky? Clearly it is... but taking on risk (i.e. prop trading) isn't the core business of investment banks. Actually in America, they are currently trying to pass legislation to prevent banks from prop trading at all.
  22. Replacing cash bonuses wish shares is not without merit - in fact a lot of the large firms have been doing this for years, after you reach a certain grade. The problem is that in a big company, your individual performance (or the performance of your desk, department, or even your whole office) may be a mere blip in the context of the whole company. So it's not necessarily such a strong incentive. Trading regulations would provide a better solution, but they would have to be implemented by someone who understands the industry and the metrics (i.e. not politicians).
  23. I am surprised people say there is a big difference just a few streets away. At what height do plans typically fly above London?

  25. Thanks for the clarification James. If the issue of bus information displays is down to TfL, perhaps it's out of the scope of this conversation.
