  1. We have this one which we bought for our 2 year old son to use. I was a bit worried he would keeo touching it and turning it off but I turn it off and put it away if he messes around with it. A few times of that happening and he now just sits watching it rather than wanting to play with it http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-DVPFX730L-7-inch-Portable-Player/dp/B001V7NC24/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1313647568&sr=8-3 Was recommended to us because it has a 5 hour battery life - as opposed to others which have 3 hour (useless on a long flight!) Not sure it has a lock on it.
  2. I love the Charlotte Street hotel. What about Shoreditch house too? There's a cowshed spa there too which is lovely (their pregnancy massage is exquisite)
  3. We use the Grobag Stay on bedding (but just bought a regular duvet and pillow -which we would need anyway. ie not the grobag duvet and pillow). It's working really well and useful if you want to go away and know there will be a single bed there for your little one. We did also get a guard rail as got one set of grobag bedding and when that's in the wash, we use a regular single duvet cover but placed across the bed rather than lengthways. That way there is more to tuck in at the sides. Our son hasn't fallen out of bed yet.
  4. Have a look at this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Streamline-Pet-Gate-Extra-Tall/dp/B002QERORK
  5. This is a really good website -might help. I use it a lot http://www.wickeduncle.co.uk/
  6. Who are you flying with? If BA they do a really good car seat type of seat that attaches to the wall (where a bassinet would have gone). We recently flew to SA with our 16 month old and I gave him his milk when we got on the flight and then gave him a dose of calpol before putting him in the seat. Sometimes when I just pat his tummy gently it helps him nod off (if he's in his buggy etc) so I did that and he went to sleep in his seat. If not BA then I would still recommend a dose of calpol and try to get a spare seat beside you. If you don't seem to ahve one it's worth saying to the air stewardess (once you're seated) that if there are any seats at the back you'd like to move. Sometimes there are some empty seats right at the back so it's always worth trying that
  7. We use the Times delivery service. Really good -you only pay the cover price (if you sign up for delivery for a year). They deliver the Sunday Times to us before 7am.
  8. Soup Dragon sells nice mittens on a string that go through the coat
  9. Exactly KidKruger. Same as in any religion. One thing I know well about Sikhs is that we like to party! Turbans and funky tunes are indeed the order of most special occasions
  10. A silver bookmark, letter opener, an atlas, premium bonds or start laying down wine for her somewhere
  11. I like the Ikea Kritter table and chairs - simple, white -really nice-and very reasonably priced
  12. Would also recommend the BT one. Like that there is no interference and you can change the sensitivity too so that it doesn't click in and let you hear a child just making small sounds. You can change the sensitivity to 5 if you only want to hear when they are full on wailing. Very clever
  13. When I was towards the end of my pregnancy I would just ask the person sitting in the priority seats if I could please sit down (as long as they didn't look as though they needed the seat too). The signs are very clear - those seats are for those who are old, disabled, pregnant or carrying children.
  14. We got a MacPac Possum which is brilliant. We love it. Can carry our boy for ages in it (he's now 16 months) but some friends borrowed it recently for their 3.5 year old and found it really comfortable. Would highly recommend
