>>Don't you agree that a couple of peacocks strutting past would be good too<< Heavens no! Not only might they get run down by one of the Lordship Lane buses, but it really is not a good idea to have two peacocks strutting, even in forward-looking, ultra modern East Dulwich.... Stripey lawns and croquet though.....mmmmm...now where did I pack my old boater?

I could quite happily live on two meals a day if said two meals were a full english breakfast and a full afternoon tea. The latter is always expensive if even half-decent as it is so labour--intensive. Finger-size sandwiches are de rigeur provided that thye are followed by freshly-baked scones with clotted cream and home-made strawberry jam, plus a good selection of small but exquisitely and artistically created cakes to follow. Everything should be served on one of those triple-decker cake plates, each layer of which should be covered with a linen doily (never paper!). The tea, naturellement, should be on the leaf and there ahould be a pot of hot water and a strainer provided. One should enjoy the whole experience on a river bank, shaded by a weeping willow, with swans gliding by.... >:D<

Visiting side at Old Trafford denied blatant penalty shock-horror...:-S

Saw my first Foxtons' dark green mini on Underhill Road today. I have to say, as garish estate agents' liveries go, this was by no means the worst local one!

>>What time do they open on Sunday?<< 12 noon IIRC And as for the philistine who has never heard of Trenet or Reinhardt...well words just fail me! (6)

The unfortunate Robinson is 1 of my Fantasy XI goalkeepers and I have picked him for Sunday on the grounds that he is bound to play a blinder against Merde Utd after Wednesday's fiasco. But Sod's Law being what it is, I suppose the result will now be 5-0....:-S

Have only had the 2 letters - one about selling. onr about renting/letting. Inrtiguingly they were addressed to me personally only - I wonder if they will now follow up with phonecalls and, when my wife answers the phone, ask her if her husband is in? >:D

>>Does anyone know if it serves breakfast? Croissants / danish etc rather than full on English.<< Bought croissants and almond croisssants to take away today and had a plain one at home with coffee. It was the best croissant I have ever had outside France! If they keep up this standard they will have no problems. Gorgeous cakes on display and 29 (count 'em!) types of tea! Also tried the eccles cakes which were....unusual: less sweet than the norm but the pastry was delicious.

>> just know that if every time you get the ball within 20-30 yards of the goal and take a shot (rather than pass) you are going to get a goal every now and then << Ah yes...the so-called Neville-Robinson Theory.....:)) Oh and noone seems to have commented how good Micah Richards was...

I took the box set of Season 1 on holiday with me as I had never seen this on TV but seen it widely-praised in various places. Would now love to borrow series 2 sometime and can offer any "Sopranos" or "Buffy" series and/or loads of art-house DVDs as a quid pro quo!

>>The girls are fully clothed in orange hot pants and stretchy white vest tops.<< And rather thick tights - quite disconcerting when there's a hole in the leg and the exposed flesh is in no way colour-co-ordinated...

>>Which model do you have, Simon?<< The Panasonic is generally agreed to be the best brand by far. ?90 from Amazon. But you cover the cost in a year or so if you make your own lunch sandwiches too! -

>>I had a friend with a breadmaker, but it always seemed to produce half-ton 'bricks'. Fine for Mrs *Bob*, but I must >>have light and fluffy white with a bacon sarnie:D< Never goes stale either because it gets eaten so fast! -
Time to start a "Hooters for LL" campaign - you know it makes sense! B)
-
I tend to agree - even if with injuries and - ahem - "injuries" it looks more like an England 3rd XI than a proper team. At least MacLaren does not go in for the wholesale substitutes in friendliee like Ericssen did. I might resolve not to watch it but know I will not be able to resist a Germany game as the kick-off approaches...

>Yeah what is it with that Co-Op? It makes the Somerfield on LL look like Waitrose, and that's saying something. They've >developed a unique system whereby their bread is stale days before it's reached it's sell-by date, or (yum) it's gone >all 'gluey' in the middle.< Buy a bread-making machine! The bread is always super-fresh and the machine simple to use - had ours 18 months and saved ???. But, back on topic, I too use the Post Office - for some reason some parcels get sent there instead of Sylvester Road but I am not sure what determines this: also like the nice roomy pharmacists and the queue-free, if too-often non-functional cashpoint. Anyone else remember the greengrocer's hut that used to be plonked right in the middle of the pavement before it was msyteriously burnt down? -
>>There is one in Nottingham but it's not quite the same standard as the one in Santa Monica<< No need to brag you know - we cannot all visit Nottingham! :)-D
-
>>What is 'Hooters'? A strip club?<< A US burger (etc) chain whose gimmick is the waitresses all wear tiny orange shorts. No branches in the UK as far as I know but Interlaken has had one a few years and I believe there is wo one in Thun along the lake too

>>Foxtons are evil because they are crooks as shown on the Whistle Blower programme. Whether other estate agents are crooks or not does not take away from the fact that Foxtons are<< Libel alert!! :))

They were clenaing the windows when I went past - and I agree it looks highy promising!

I confess I almost choked laughing when I read someone at West Ham asserting with a straight face that Bellamy would replace Tevez! >:D

>>Torres' goal was great, so that's a positive. Plus the mancs lost which is always a good thing.>> Torres looks a fantastic buy - he oozes class and that goal was superb. And, yes, not at all displeasing to see Man City put one over United. There was a smug-git Sky pundit (cannot recall who - to me they're all interchangeable blandies) who asserted that, if the Championship ends up in Manchester this season then it certainly will not be with City. Hmmm.....Ericsson has done an amazing reconstruction job and has some class players whereas Ferguson's stars get themselves injured and/or stupidly suspended all the time. As for Colin still ranting on against Benitez, he's out of work and has to earn his ??? somehow now you know!:))
-
Yes but I had a negative score after week one, having bought 5 players :'(
-
>>Simon M - are you a blue by any chance?<< No! I support Sheffield United, against whom Liverpool won three penalties last season, one farcical, one very dubious and one undisputed. It is immensely satisfying to see the boot on the other foot, so to speak. :))
-
...so Liverpool drop 2 points against Chelsea after "conceding" a totally spurious penalty. My how I laughed and laughed!>:D
