  1. Well you have swapped places with me at the foot of the table! :))
  2. Sean Bean ....who supports Sheffield United and got to play sex scenes with Joely Richardson. He could play me in his sleep without altering his accent:)-D
  3. >>Any recycling bins around for batteries and printer cartridges?<< The Freedom Cafe (church at top of Barry Road) has a bin for printer cartridges - every brand except Epson alas (wehave an Epson!)
  4. >>Would I be right in assuming that the ED forum is right behind John Redwood's proposals to ditch inheritance tax?<< No!!!!!!!!!!! :X
  5. >>If it were up to me I would drop the age to 16 and hey presto most of the problem goes away.<< Nah - drop it to 12 and make it compulsory until 16: that'd sort it. And why anyway is it such a problem here and not across the Channel? Nothing to do with starting the kids on wine when they're about 7 I suppose?
  6. >>With top off, Donald's getting "wood" - rarely done? (4, 5):D
  7. >>Hurrah, a Leeds victory. THe mighty Macclesfield were humbled 1-0!:D
  8. Well with so many teams not playing this weekend and others of my selections injured I have just blown 6/7ths of my points on buying in 3 guys who should at least do *something* on Saturday! >:D
  9. >>I disagree, Al. I think 'wally' also has endearing connotations. As in "ee's a bit of a wally, but ee's awright really":D
  10. >>>Ratty I'm guessing that's your team that have stormed in to an early lead! I'm sitting in 3rd, but a fair bit behind 1st and 2nd.:D< (But it's shame so many of my squad is benched, injured, in jail etc etc)
  11. >>Wrote a series of historical novels in the 50's. Mostly famous for naval series featuring Hornblower. <<< He also wrote "The African Queen"!
  12. >>>Real Sociopath is me....<<< Another "Real" eh? I did consider "Dynamo Underhill" but thought this might seem silly...:)
  13. >>Hurrah - another Curry House - just what we need.<< Actually we really could do with a quality Indian place - something like the Babur in Brockley - as distinct from yet another boil/steam rubbishy meat-and-pour-on-the-sauce sort of outfit...
  14. I have joined with - ahem - "Real EastDulwich" >:D< Man U to win the premiership, Wigan, Bolton & Derby to be relegated. SimonM
  15. Being neither affluent nor aged between 25 and 40 I'd not dare to cross the portals of the new estbalishment for fear of instant electrocution or worse... (I am not a battered OAP either, as it goes)
  16. >>Yes, that potential 15 point deficit is extremely harsh.<< As a Sheffield United supporter I have always hated Leeds United with a deep passion, exceeded only that held for Sheffield W*dn*sd*y, but on the subject of this 15 point deduction I heartily agree - it is much too harsh. But the scale of the punishment was inevitable given that Leeds is a northern club - a London one would just have been given a derisioy fine of course... :X

    Summer reads

    >>I may return to The Magus - last read as a student in the 70's, thanks for the reminder Jah.:D< But....I don't think time has been too kind to it myself.
  18. >>"Where do other people go to buy clothing?", errr the same place as they always have done, there isn't anywhere in East Dulwich to get clothes at the moment is there?<< Well there's Dog Kennel Hill Sainsbury's now of course, and that small shop on Grove Vale: and the various charity shops: and that sawn-off Agent Provocateur-type place near Green & Blue. Myself I get all my clothes either online or on holiday nowadays... SimonM
  19. >>blimey, hope she's ok but who on earth would hold up a video shop on a Monday afternoon<< The same sort of moron who'd rob the likes of Willow perhaps? "Move to East Dulwich! Meet London's stupidest criminals..." SimonM
  20. >>She was the Polish nanny in Brookside inearly 90s<< Um yes but she has also had two different roles in "Coronation Street", a long run in "Heartbeat" and fairly recently played a bent femme fatale senior cop in "The Bill"...
  21. >roughly at the junction of LL and Lordship Lane Oh blimey...I meant at the junction off LL and Underhill Road SimonM (in idiot mode) (6)
  22. I was in Barclays a couple of days ago and it looked like the Woolwich was already sharing the premises inside.
  23. >>I have heard of Edo in Crystal Palace ..... is it worth a trip as they dont deliver to ED?<< Edo do deliver to ED - but it's free delivery only within a 3 mile range, although unfortunately the 3 miles radius rnds roughly at the junction of LL and Lordship Lane. Recommended for the Beef Teriyaki!
  24. >>Dont know if any of you have noticed, but I have been trying to keep a low profile these days:D
  25. Aren't we getting just a little bit carried away hurling brickbats at Caffe Nero here? They are not unauthorised to be where they are, or to sell coffee etc. All they did was jump the gun on a change of use application - a chnage of use, as I recall, which was originally approved at one Council level but later overrusled higher up? And who would actually suffer from any massive fine? The parent organisation, the franchisee (I am assuming - perhaps erroneously - that Caffe Nero run as franchises - in which case it'd just be the local businesss person running it who would suffer) or the customers who would just ahve the fine passed on to them? Caffe Nero is the most accessible coffee shop in ED (I refuse to include Starbucks in this assessment as no establishment which serves espressos in paper cups is a true coffee shop! :)))
