  1. I have a feeling that one of these roads is a one way/no entry - have not tried this route for sometime.
  2. I need to drive to Bellenden Road via Maxted Road - if I cannot use this area I have no other option to get to Highshore Road. Most remember to try and get vet appointments after 10 am and after 4 pm.
  3. I believe those particular shop frontages belong to the freeholders rather than to the council and that the council's bit of the pavement is the narrow uneven bit with the massive trees planted in it. Frontage areas are usually set out in the lease/rental agreement but they need to obtain a licence from Southwark to install tables and chairs outside. I cannot see Southwark agreeing for tables and chairs placed right up the edge of the road. Recall some time ago that council ordered an establishment to remove table and chairs as they had not been granted a licence.
  4. A couple of mums turned up - did not stay long as Police were running late due to transport issues. We had 3 ladies who had not attended before, the majority were retired folk but we had one lady in her 30s who did hybrid working so was able to get out during the day. - 12 of us.
  5. Dunstans Road comes under Dulwich Hill SNT- you can get their details on the Met Police website . I know that the Police are often patrolling Dawson Hights. Please contact them,
  6. Yes. Buses were stopping 3- 4 feet away from the pavement (also happens nowadays due to parking) on one occasion, people waiting at the bus stop had to assist me
  7. Agree - we use the vet in Highshore Road, which is one way and approached by another one way scheme. There is no way other than Bellenden Road that we could access this road. You cannot drive through Peckham High Street to access many of the roads in this area.
  8. Do not want pavements widening in all of LL. There are a few places that would benefit this but if you are driving there are sections of the road which could not cope with certain widths of vehicles i.e 2 buses going in opposite directions. Pavement widening in these areas would not beneficial. The difficulty outside Oro is the number of bikes on the bike stands there - some which have fallen down reducing pavement space. This plus prams etc and outside seating add to the narrowness. People who use mobility scooters which cannot legally be used on the road, find certain areas too narrow with competing prams, pedestrians, and outdoor seating at cafes. Outside Farmers the pavement is uneven. from Franklins to Whatley Road - chairs and tables have encroached the pavement so much leaving pedestrians/wheelchair/Mobility scooters reduced areas. I am against the return of the Covid Widening scheme- I found that where it was near bus stops, buses could not draw up close to pavements and those like myself reliant on walking aids found it difficult to board and alight due to the drop.
  9. Are you back to living in ED or still in Devon but coming back to London for medical treatment? You can google the Met Police and get the SNT details of whatever ward applies. What I gather from our Cuppa with a Copper session yesterday, they have done welfare checks at the resident's address. The email you sent - was it to a general address as I understand that this 'central information base' then gets filtered down to individual SNT teams,
  10. Can you give me more details relating to your firm.
  11. If you look at all the Cuppa with Copper in ED they are all during the day - the Dulwich Village SNT hold theirs at various venues. If a resident has concerns and cannot get to meet the team, they can arrange a home visit. I know a couple of the officers have called upon people at their home. Many of the residents are now linked to Met Engage and receive regular updates from the police. What council guy are you talking about? There were also Mums/childminders with young children there who also briefly spoke with a couple of the officers,
  12. We have always gone during the week at lunch time - great place and good value. Husband has been several times on his own and owner knows his first name. I could not go one time for some reason and she sent him home with some spring rolls (free)
  13. We did but they would not budge. Anyway this was last year - things may have changed and staff may be different. It was a man who served us.
  14. I am having difficulties in finding a builder to replace an internal wall between kitchen and shower room. Have contacted 3 'Which approved builders- one never replied, the other visited on 16th October and still awaiting his estimate. The other was due a couple of weeks ago but his car broke down, rebooked for today but had calls saying that he has spent last 20 minutes driving around Barry/Goodrich/Landells Roads trying to park. Did not want to chance parking on yellow lines! Parking around ED is now putting off contractors. He is going to give me an alternative date and I will move my car from my drive the night before so he can park there. Need to find other reputable building companies willing to work in ED
  15. Last time we had Cuppa with a Copper - we had 10 people attend. The attack mentioned in previous entry - I assume is the one around Goose Green ?
  16. Paper notice I received was closed from 17th November for 6 months e,g May
  17. Price was displayed on menu but turns out it was per person - not mentioned. Even the big department stores tell you pot of tea for one @£? .
  18. Just a reminder that Dulwich Hill SNT will be holding their Cuppa with a Copper session on 11th November 11- 12 in the cafe area at Christ Church Barry Road.
  19. Went there once and were not impressed when they charged £9 for one pot of Chinese tea for 2 people.
  20. What nobody has cotton onto is that Dulwich library will not be available possibly for the Council Elections in May 26. Looks as though Southwark are not confident that the work will be completed by May 26 and are scouting around to find alternative venues.
  21. Have used Turners in Barry Road for a number of years since the retirement of Andrew Brock.
  22. Is he local to South London? My father made his solicitor the executive. I, for many years had Lasting Power of Attorney to deal with all his finances including liaison with his bank and payment of his care home fees. I was also responsible for the sale of his home to release funds for care home fees. When he died, I notified the solicitor, obtained the death certificate and organized the funeral, cleared his care home of his possessions . Myself and my cousin were beneficiaries but my father had left a small sum of money to a man in the Midlands whose name was unknown to all of us including my step mother. It took around 9 months for solicitor to establish that this gentleman had been deceased for a number of years . This obviously put additional charges onto the fees.
  23. The Police and a couple of local residents took part in a Road Watch last week. In the hour we were there - 20 odd cars were doing over 23 mph, one doing 41 mph, plus a bus was caught. Registration details were noted and these will be recorded on a data base. Traffic was lighter than normal as half term.
  24. I suppose we are lucky that our daughters both drive so do not have alcohol when they are with us. I start my Christmas food shopping in October, when prices are generally lower. Turkey Crown from Iceland, gammon from Sainsbury's, get put into freezer as do any other bits and pieces i.e. prawns/seafood. Fruit and veg from Aldi nearer the time,. Having 3 vegetarians plus a gluten intolerant, I make much of the other food stuff including desserts. Aldi's version of Baileys is half the price, plus beers and ciders are good value. Neither of us are wine drinkers We generally have fish or vegetarian based food from Marks plus a dessert, I suppose I have always been a careful shopper - I was a single parent for many years where all my wages went to paying the mortgage leaving around £10 a week for food and other bills. My work colleagues used to mock me when I said that a chicken would last us all the week ending up boiling up bones to make a soup base. Old habits die hard even when you have a bit more in your pocket to spend.
