  1. echoing what the above poser said-I left my things on a shelf provided by the pool- I would book online and go on the waitlist-I did that and the day before slots became available. FYI if you dont have the App for the Covid tracking point your camera on your phone at the QR code (the square box with the pixels in)and that should lead to opening Safari so you can still log your details. Hope this makes sense-I'm sure someone could explain it better! Some of us only have basic Nokia phones, some of which do not have cameras.
  2. We opened our door at 8 30 am today and were surprised to see post!
  3. Having tried almost daily to book a slow lane swim for hubby- all daytime and evening slots are full up 7 days in advance. New system is that you have to use an app for Track and Trace - for those with a basic phone without apps- we have asked whether the pen and paper system is still in place. Also - no lockers available - you have to take pot luck that your cards/phones are not stolen.
  4. Anyone selling door to door needs to have a licence = police advice is to ask to see person's licence and if none produced notify neighbourhood police. They collect information as may relate to other crimes in the area.
  5. I have been asked to publish this. IF INTERESTED IN SUPPORTING/BEING INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY CENTRE WHICH HAS BEEN IN OPERATION FOR 40 YEARS NEXT MONTH, PLEASE READ BELOW. East Dulwich Community Centre Association Annual General Meeting and election of the Management Committee Covid arrangements We will be holding our AGM on Monday 19th October 2020 at 7.45pm. We do not know at the moment if we will be permitted, under Government rules, to meet at the Community Centre. If not, we will hold the meeting on line. Either way, we will do our best to involve anyone who can?t attend. At the AGM we elect committee members and officers. This year we will include postal voting, either by email or land mail. To allow enough time for voting, nominations must be received by 5pm on Monday 12th October. Anyone who is willing to stand must have the support of 2 named eligible voters. Who is eligible to vote? ? All aged18 or over, living within the area of bounded by Lordship Lane, East Dulwich Road, Peckham Rye, Dunstans road and Upland Road. ? Also representatives of organisations using the Community Centre or associated with it. Who can stand for election? ? Anyone who is eligible to vote can also stand for election including existing Committee members. Organisations using the Centre may appoint up to 2 representatives without election. The Management Committee includes four Officers ? Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. These are usually elected by a second round on the night. In these special circumstances, the election will be carried out in one round. Nominees for election to the Committee are required, at the outset, to state if they are also willing to stand for as an officer and in which role. Each candidate will make a brief electoral statement, which will be posted on the website as they are received. Resolutions As for our normal AGM, any resolutions must be received by one week before the meeting. Deadline 12th October Please contact us by email [email protected] for further information or assistance.
  6. Many years ago I joined Gingerbread following a breakup of a relationship. I had a 6 year old daughter at the time. As time went on I became the Welfare Officer for the local group and found companionship with other single parents. I met my husband at the group and we have now been married 38 years, we each have a daughter by previous relationships and 'our' daughter
  7. Kevin and I did one watch early evening together, the other was done earlier during the afternoon was with 2 other members of the residents association. Kevin is very flexible about dates, times and locations and loves his job.
  8. Needs minimum of 2 people - one with gun and other to write down registration plate.
  9. tedfudge Yesterday, 09:16PM Would like this done in Barry road The speed some drivers and motor bikes Do are outrageous and overtaking on Wrong side of the road Please see my post of 30th August. I personally took part in 2 road watches with Kevin and I am aware several other residents took part in others and were concentrating on the area of Barry Road between the Rye and Underhill Road. Suggest that tedfudge contact Kevin and suggest another road watch in Barry Road.
  10. I did my Child Observation (many years ago) and used a local nursery. I got a letter from my course tutor who confirmed that I had the necessary security clearance. Good luck
  11. Thursday 17th - nobody could get up Dog Kennel Hill due to an accident, so all traffic was diverted via ED Grove/ Redpost Hill/Sunray Avenue
  12. Having been in an emergency ambulance a couple of times this year, they tend to use Sat Navs to get to destinations. On one of my journeys the Sat Nav sent them down the back streets of ED and then back onto Lordship Lane. If they had known the route, could have got to the same area in less time by just turning right at a junction instead of turning left.
  13. Closure of DKH from Sainsbury's upwards at 3.50 this afternoon - police cars and a lorry stationed by traffic lights opp DKH school
  14. I did my Child Observation Study at a local council nursery. Child was a 2 year old and I had to observe her for 6- 8 weeks.
  15. Did you inform your neighbourhood police team?. You come under Dulwich Hill. The 2 officers which cover this area are very approachable .
  16. Some years ago, one of my clients had to move from his private rented tied house (the house went with the job)and was eligible for council housing. He and his wife were asked along to view a property on the Kingswood Estate - when the Housing Officer saw the couple his/her face fell as nobody had checked the application form properly and had allocated a flat on the 3rd floor, without a lift to an amputee who was permanently in a wheelchair! They were rehoused some time later in sheltered housing - they reluctantly accepted this as no other suitable housing.
  17. Had fantastic fish, chips and peas at the Bread of Life caf? at Christ Church Barry Road, last week. ?7.90 to eat in, but they also do takeaway. Caf? currently open 10 - 3 pm Monday - Fridays.
  18. Hubby cycled most of his life until about 4 years ago when his health deteriorated through arthritis. He sometimes rode from Tulse Hill to Cheshunt in Hertfordshire as he could not afford public transport (was unemployed at the time)- he frequently complained about other cyclists being a danger to themselves and other road users. He has always argued that cyclists should pay some form of road tax. Bike frames could have registration numbers etched on their frames. Also have a form of insurance. As a younger and fitter person, I used to cycle from East Dulwich to Westminster, but having poor balance, I had the bike fitted with wing mirrors on both handles so I could see traffic behind me. Many years ago, my aunt (in her late 60s) was knocked down by a youth (around 12- 15 years of age) cycling on the pavement outside the now Sainsbury's Local. She fractured her hip and throughout the rest of her life was in pain. The young man rode off when he realised that many pedestrians had witnessed the accident. Police were involved but never found the culprit.
  19. Recently when visiting daughter in Durrington On Sea Sussex, we took a bus into Rustington. Good shopping areas, various types of houses/flats/bungalows. Mixture of generations. Next time we go to Sussex- will spend more time exploring Rustington. ( it is on the Littlehampton Rail line I believe)
  20. Having ordered 2 books in late August I still have not heard whether they are now in Dulwich Library to collect as not had any emails. So long ago - I cannot remember what I ordered. More logical (to me) is to have a couple of mobile shelves/trolleys of various books (fiction/ non fiction) for people to browse. Shelves/trolleys can be moved each night into 'isolation zone' for 72 hours and a fresh lot of books put out the following day etc.
  21. All depends where you live in ED as many practices have catchment areas
  22. With more adults and children cycling due to road closures etc - has anyone got any idea if they have been involved in accidents and 'near misses'? I ask as I have noticed the following:- more adults with young children (under 11) cycling on main roads i.e Barry Road and Lordship Lane - adults leading with children following - frequently with large gaps between them. I would have thought it better for adults to be behind children. More pavement cycling of both adults and children. More running through red lights - adults and children. Cutting up of pedestrians on crossings and pavements.
  23. Clarification on Government website dated yesterday. Pubs/cafes/restaurants can remain open with usual SD rules and also Track and Trace forms to be completed. Maximum seating is for 6 people in any one group.
  24. I do not often go to Melbourne Grove and would not go in a car as always very hard to find parking spaces. Just as easy to get a bus and get off at Elsie Road or station depending which side of Melbourne Grove you wished to shop in.
  25. have used Quick Print for years - very reasonable and helpful.
