  1. Hello - a friend of mine has been trained to deliver the Covid vaccine (she is an ex nurse) and is due to start tomorrow. She has to remove all jewellery and can?t . One of her rings is stuck - does anyone have a machine that can cut it ? It?s fairly thin?? Thanks
  2. I think the caf? on the corner of the gardens was serving some sort of beer/booze last weekend - caf? G I know that the Great Exhibition is doing a 'pint thru' though that is not very near the park! The Herne isn't open which is at the top of the park...
  3. Feel your pain - there is a house on Cannonbie road that seems to have constant garden parties. Loud music and loud drunk people talking till all hours. They even brought out a didgeridoo last summer for an hour or so. I asked them to be quiet and they told me where to go. Pleasant people that they are.
  4. I am glad to hear your brother is doing ok . For the rest of us, perhaps the best way to help people is not tell them what they could have done. But to think about what we can do in the future to help others. Being the person who asks someone if they are ok, when it looks like they might not be. Even if that means asking some other people around you to come with you to see if the person is alright.
  5. We went to a friends wedding at the Horniman and it was great - lovely venue with excellent food. I think from what I recall they only use on caterer who does all of their weddings, so you may want to look into that. We got married at the Asylum and it was ace!
  6. Covid-19 deaths across Europe yesterday. United Kingdom - 359 all of the rest of Europe - 324 The figure not going down quickly is widely reported in the press. It isn't a surprise. I feel very thankful that all the people I love are still safe and well and very sad for the 50,000 UK families who can't say the same. I understand the economic reasons to make changes but I wonder how many more elderly people (who seem to have suddenly become not as important as young people for some) will die unnecessarily because of this decision.
  7. I have just been to Bell Green Sainsburys - no queue at all when I came out at 9:00am and they had very stocked shelves. I know it isn't convenient for all, but thought I would mention it on here just in case. Tuesdays at 8:30am seem good!
  8. Sorry to hear you're ill - hope you get better soon. This post really made me smile though! People near me are big fans of some very early morning DIY... 7am is not the time to be putting up shelves/ripping out wardrobes.

What a jerk We live on Wood vale and this happens a lot. I have noticed it more during lockdown, but that could be because I am at home more in the day, it may happen a lot at other times. I have seen people overtake and drive on the wrong side of the road at speed at least 6 times in the last 4 weeks. Does anyone know what we can do to try to stop this happening? As others have said it wouldn't take much for someone to be crossing the road perfectly legitimately and be hit.

Agreed - we go to one supermarket every 8 days with one visit to a very local corner shop for Milk top up a week. I have parcels I need to post, but I am going to wait until after the lockdown (they are ebay sales and the people who have bought them have been lovely about waiting). I realise that some people are still running businesses and need to use the post office, so staying away when it isn't urgent seem the best decision for me. I suppose we each do what we think is the right thing. For me, that means being outside as little as possible and making as little contact with people outside our home.
  11. Rupert James - do you need some help? I am at work today but happy to help if you need me to with getting provisions from a supermarket by car later on if that would be useful to you?
  12. I would love some help with this as well - thanks
  13. Dave has just been round and was brilliant. Helpful knowledgeable and upfront about what we needed to do and approximate costs. Advised me about some grants that may be available from the council and what we could do without spending too much to sort the job out. A lovely man who I would heartily recommend
  14. Hi Dave We have got some problems with damp and I am looking for someone to tell me what is causing them - then hopefully fix them for us! Is this something that you might be able to help with? We think it may be a problem with the window, but we are not sure. I am not sure if this falls within what you do? Thanks
  15. Hi- anyone recommend a company who can come and look at the cause of damp in our flat. As Leaseholders the council don't care unless we can evidence where the problem is coming from..... looking for a company to help us figure it out and to fix it at some point! - thanks for any advice.
  16. We got married at the Asylum Chapel in June last year - not Dulwich, Peckham, but a spectacular place - but it depends on what sort of space you want/what you like. It isn't everyone's idea of nice. maverickprojects.co.uk We had our reception at Old Colfeans Rugby/Cricket club which really suited us as we had a lot of guests a needed a big space for a BBQ etc . Happy to recommend BBQ people if you need them. they were amazing.
  17. I don't have much done regularly but when I do, I go there. It is a great place. I would highly recommend it too
  18. We always get ours from the Secret Garden behind Sainsburys in Crystal Palace -great selection, good quality and lovely people.
  19. also - on booze. Sainsburys sometimes do an offer where you buy 6 bottles of wine and get 25% off - not sure if that is on yet, but might be worth checking out - they also deliver, so you could have the booze delivered directly to the place you are hiring - we always do this when we go away as a big group!
  20. It isn't a bulk supermarket, but Aldi is considerably cheaper than every other supermarket . The one on old kent road it pretty accessible by bus and there is also one near catford that is good. Just as an e.g a massive pack of chicken thighs (great roasted - for a cheap meal have a look at nigella's indian chicken thigh potato recipe) are ?1.80. Their supersix fruit and veg offers are good. They also have a red wine called Duoro that is ?5 a bottle, won an award and is tasty!
  21. I would be interested in attending a meeting about traffic calming/speed tracking. The number of people who drive dangerously/on the wrong side of the road at speed to overtake needs to be looked at/monitored.
  22. on our road we have problems with people overtaking by going onto the wrong side of the road, often at great speed. Happened again last night. We have bollards/crossing points all the way down the road, speed bumps etc but it doesn't stop people. Is there anything I can do? It is really dangerous and frightening as a driver when people are so unpredictable/drive so selfishly.
  23. The crown and greyhound in Dulwich has rooms that are lovely - not sure of cost
  24. I find the Palmerston pricey and a bit underwhelming. I have had a really lovely roast a few times at the White Horse - at the end of Nigel road, they have a bit of live music too, sometimes jazz, sometimes a relaxed DJ. Food was lovely.
  25. We had major works in out block over 4 years ago. I disputed the standard of the work for 2 years. It took me that long to get a resolution, which was them knocking ?1,000 off the ?20,000 bill. We are now being told that we have to buy new front doors as ours are no longer fire compliant - they were in 2015 - but the council now say that they aren't. So I feel another long winded dispute coming on. It has taken them three months to reply to one email about it. I do feel for the staff, they are massively under resourced and funds are tight. But if the standard of work isn't good enough, they shouldn't be paying out for it or taking your money for it.
