Good Lord, he looks as though he's come straight from auditions for a Wham! tribute band.

  4. And in a complete change of mood Citigroup to shed 75,000 jobs.
  5. If you can be bothered Exciting news from the indifferent, the bored and the shruggers of the shoulder!
  6. J, I think she's saying that it will be reduced BY 2 trains an hour from an (alleged) 6trains an hour to 4. Plus the cutting of the link means you won't be able to get from Denmark Hill to London Bridge at all any more.
  7. You see, this is why I duck the camera at Forum drinks.

    Strictly Purism

Argh, and I thought we had a lot of Wire threads! How many threads on the front page referring to Strictly, X-Factor and I'm a Cheese, Stick Me In the Grater? Nero - sorry, not pointing at you. Don't watch Strictly, but I have a Very Good Friend (honest :-$) who is very upset about last night, and says it's a Travesty. Does that help?

Don't think it's unreasonable to allow her a day to reply to your letter - after all, she will have to look into what happened and then post the letter. And she may have other responsibilities too.
  11. Right, that's it. I'm not reading this thread any more. I didn't want to know that. My own fault for reading, but no more for me.

    Iams Cats

Pickle, I just wonder whether it makes me like the loony American girl (although the actress is a complete genius, I love that character). You may have Bret (she said graciously), he's all stringy and beardy and no use to me. My other cat I feel would speak with the voice of Rodney from Only Fools - he thinks he's clued up, but really he's a bit of a twit and the other cats run rings around him. PGC, what do you think?
  13. ...hence all the Lost Cat ads on the Forum! PGC Holmes, you are a genius. Do you think it operates like the ChittyChittyBangBang Child Catcher?
  14. Big-up d_c for posting that video, enjoyed it immensely. Did anyone else think 'Oh, it's a clarinet, I did wonder!'? Or is that hugely geeky? Also found the synchronised hopping over the dunes rather endearing. So, what is the word at the end of the 2nd line of the chorus? "Where women glow and men - "? Plunder? Chunder? Put asunder? edit - apparently 'adunder' isn't a word.
  15. I don't get it. When I pop my clogs (aged a hale 94 from my Caribbean retreat summoning a handsome young waiter with another rum punch) I want acres of black, hordes of distraught people, horses with plumes, and possibly a national day of mourning announced. Or perhaps I'm just a total ego-maniac.
  16. I'll be putting up a notice in 'What's On' in a few days but here's a cheeky push for my choir's Christmas Concert at Southwark Cathedral* on 15th December, followed by wine and mince pies. PM me for more details, or watch out for the notice. *OK, not in ED but not so far away...
  17. I do a corking 'I Will Survive', accompanied by enthusiastic angry-at-men gestures spraying Bacardi Breezer over the assembled throng.

    Petty Annoyances

Argh!!! I've been travelling in a bit later than usual (due to laziness) and every morning this week have been one of a million heads bobbing about the platforms at London Bridge, trying to get through the inadequate number of gates. So the platform guys open the gates and we all flood through. This annoys me pettily for two reasons:- 1) There are still people who are so monumentally stupid and inconsiderate as to stop in front of the barriers looking for the ticket THEY DO NOT NEED to get out, and sometimes trying three or four times to push it into the gate - ARGH ARGH!! and even less rationally 2) What's the point of barriers when at rush hour, the time the majority of travellers are coming through, the gates are just left open to cope with the volume? Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Grumpy Old Moos

Is it wrong that I quite fancy him? (for clarity - not your cat, Pickle)
  20. Well, I didn't want to say anything but I was a bit disappointed. I'd have suggested something like The Shark or Screaming Pineapples From Jupiter or Hillbilly Reginald No?

My cat has an absurd squeaky voice and I fear that had he a celeb voice he would sound a lot like Chris Rock.
  22. Advsing Microbite not to make decisions in an 'emotional state' is just another way that we/society/they would like us to conform. Is it? Seems to me the media are quite keen for us all to get as upset as we possibly can. Edited to add: SMG, this might be the time to bring out the 'squalid' post. I jest of course. :-$
  23. No, that's if it puts on a floaty scarf and bangles
  24. Is it just me, or has this thread become utterly silly and disappeared up its own bottom?
