  1. Hello everyone, I've supported both school bids as just wanted a new school in East Dulwich which is co-ed, non-faith and probably not just distance-only admissions policy. I know the admissions policy still seems to be under consideration under the Hatchams bid but have found out that Charter is definitely crow-flies only. That means, as we are on the south border of Peckham Rye Park, we may not get in. I've asked them to give a geographical estimate of catchment based on the postode of supporters for the first 2 years (ie Year 4 and 5 kids now) but they couldn't do so. There could be a lot of parents supporting this new school with actually no chance of getting in - at least banding or other policies are a genuine lottery for all. It doesn't seem quite right for Charter to choose distance-only when their other school is so close and also distance-only. And they really need to give some guidance on catchment probabilities - it can't be that hard to work out, can it? Any response anyone???
  2. Every night before bed, put the banana skin with the inside against the verruca with a plaster/tape over it. This got rid of my son's verruca in 2 weeks.
  3. Hi everyone, I'm in similar position as Shaila - parasol toppled and broke one of our bay windows yesterday - looking for a glazier/handyperson to replace window and also a cracked window in our porch, - rather than a specialist window company. If anyone has a recommendation, would be very grateful!
  4. meant to say the drop-in sensory play sessions are for under 5s with disabilities and/or special/additional needs and siblings are welcome, too.

  6. Sorry to hear about your terrifying ordeal at Oak Tree - I read the other thread and thanks for letting everyone know about it, and so glad to hear he was safe.
  7. Thanks for your suggestions. I'm also visiting Little Fingers on Barry Road, which has places so fingers crossed.
  8. Does anyone know of any nurseries that might have places at the moment for a 3-year-old? My son turned 3 in February and is entitled to his free 15 hours a week this term, but he won't get a place in school nursery until September. We're looking just for one term, which isn't great but necessary. He goes to a childminder once a week but she doesn't do the government vouchers. Thanks for anyone's help. I will ring round but it was just on the offchance anyone knew. We live by Peckham Rye Park.
  9. When you comb, make sure you put conditioner on first. Comb every 2-3 days for 2 weeks. Use Tea Tree Oil conditioner if possible (Faith in Nature good). Get a small bowl of water and every time you comb through rinse the comb off in the water. You'll see what comes out after - first time usually a few mature bugs and mini ones. Then just mini ones (these can't hatch eggs), then after 2 weeks it should be clear. Use Tea Tree oil shampoo and do the conditioner combing. It's great for getting cradle cap off too!
  10. I couldn't attend meeting, too. I don't like the idea of 'nodal points' in black spots for a school over on ED hospital site. For me, the whole point of primary school is for children to be at one of their nearest schools so that: 1) They can walk there 2) Their friends live in the same close neighbourhood as them, so that they feel part of their local school community
  11. Hi What happens if you don't find anything, but all your clothes are gone so you can't take them home?
  12. Wondered how far you were from Ivydale to get in? We are definitely in a horrible black hole between the two Harris secondary academies by the park. All the kids from the roads around here are at different schools so there is no school community. Goodrich, Ivydale and Fairlawn are all very near in 10 min walks but they are out of catchment. Others have had to go to Horniman from here, my oldest are at Dog Kennel Hill as we started there, so have had to drive every day as could only get 2nd in there as a sibling rather than in a local school. Don't want to have to drive there again for another 7 years with my 3rd child but can't see how we can get him in anywhere in walking distance. There was talk of a new school based at Harris Girls, which would be great.
  13. Well we did stop by the nurse for a check-up at the surgery last week as my little one had been in A&E last Sunday with a huge, swollen eye at same time as stomach bug and had to go on antibiotics, too. Fortunately, she gave us a prescription for Dioralyte as by then everyone was down with the bug - we've got through boxes of the stuff and still have loads more thankfully. It does seem like a particularly long one, doesn't it - 6 days? I only had it for half a day but felt rubbish in the lead-up. Fingers crossed it'll be over for him soon as everyone else is better now. I've been nursing kids (and dad at home now for 9 days in a row!!! Aaagh. Glad you and baby have bounced back.
  14. Has anyone else had this sickness bug which is mainly explosive yellow watery diarrhoea for days? Whole family had it - apart from one - and I escaped lightly, but my 6-year-old is now on 6th day, and he's vomited now, too. Maybe a doctor trip tomorrow. Hoping it ends soon. All the bugs seem to start from 2yr old son - maybe from his nursery.
  15. I went to this clinic when my 12-year-old was a baby until he got his referral: It is in Clapham Common http://www.kikisclinic.com/ Good luck
