  1. Hi I find them to be brilliant with my son they always squeeze him in on same day if he is ill. However to get a routine appointment takes ages. Also my appointments are usually an average of 20 mins late. The Drs (both male) are nice enough and sympathetic. The receptionists are sometimes lovely sometimes not so great! I'd give them 67/100, hope that helps! I always hear better about 360 across the road, but because they have always been good with my son I have stayed put.
  2. I have always used batransfer. They have never let me down re car seats where other taxi companies have. You need to book a slightly bigger car (few quid more expensive). The pick up from ed has always been on time/early (used about 20 times) but they have been late a couple of times on collection from airport...
  3. Hello, I can give info based on the usual 3 scans for low risk pregnancy from experience. You get sent a letter for 11-13 week scan which states an appointment time... I was under the impression you can only change it if you have a really good reason, I changed it once because I was out of the country but had to accept an appointment in the middle of the day. I am not self employed so all fine as your place of work have to give you time off for antenatal appointments. You book the 22 week and later scan at the hospital after you have had the 12 week one. The earliest I have ever managed was 930am. I was kept waiting for results for my last 12 week scan and most of the sonographers and doctors were leaving at around 6... But maybe a few stay later. Maybe someone else can give you more info. X
  4. The duster seller (who said his name was Alfie and that he had ID) knocked on my door at 930pm the other day. I didn't open the door to him as 930pm is far too late for cold calls.
  5. Hi, Try Gloria on 020 8693 1533 - she is based in East Dulwich Grove. She was great with my cat when we had to board her for a month when builders were in. They really do get hotel experience with breakfast lunch and dinner and snacks and pretty much constant cuddles. It is so inexpensive that I am sure she just does it because she loves cats. My cat is used to going outside, but she didn't seem to mind being inside for a whole month.
  6. I don't think the price they charge is too expensive considering they have to cut hair whilst child is wriggling about. Do feel a bit sorry for girls with short hair as pricing seems to be done on sex rather than hair length? I have a toddler, maybe when he is a bit older and less wriggly I will take him to a regular barbers, but I have always had good service when I have been.
  7. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1556977,1557092#msg-1557092 Simonethebeaver wrote a really helpful post about the new midwife arrangements try clicking above. It's all changed and I keep having appointments changed from one place to another!
  8. I would just book taxis in advance... Some years Addison Lee keep their prices the same as usual over the holiday period to beat off the competition. I used them 2 years ago on boxing day and new years eve to ferry myself and family members around. Have a lovely wedding!
  9. Does anyone live in lee? I looked at a house there and liked it
  10. If you have a normal weighing scale weigh yourself with and without luggage, the difference is the luggage. Those hook things are easier though!
  11. Thanks for the advice everyone!
  12. Hello, Looking to buy a little 2nd hand car, not to do great distances, but something reliable and safe. I have no clue about cars so just wondering if anyone could share opinions on cars which can comfortably fit 2 child car seats and a buggy in the boot, but at the same time not too massive (I am rubbish at parking). Thanks!
  13. Our 2 bed flat also becoming too small for growing family. We went to South Norwood last weekend for a scout around to see what it was like, but it seems quite a big area. We went to have a look at country park which felt like I had gone outside London, but haven't visited the Lakes yet. Are there parts that people deem as better than other bits. The streets we looked at were near the station. The houses looked nice and most were well cared for, but the streets seemed a bit scruffy. It was nice that in Croydon council they have far fewer wheelie bins blocking the pavements.
  14. So sorry to hear of your experience. We did Waterbabies for a year and the wee man loved it. Would continue, but they no longer offer the Saturday classes (or any classes) in Lewisham Hospital which were convenient for us.
  15. Another vote for sitters.co.uk They usually find someone within a few hours Good luck x
  16. My son has been in the baby room since last September. He is 18 months now and goes 4 days a week. He seems to really like it there and the staff are lovely. Pm me if you want more details. X
  17. Please don't take it personally... It could be something simple like a friend/relative has asked them to look after their baby and therefore she would put them above quota for no of babies they are allowed to have. I had a similar ish situation with a childminder 3 weeks before I was to start back at work. I reckon it was maybe something to do with her personal life but will never know. At the time it was very stressful, so I know how you are feeling. In the end we opted for a nursery and everything worked out fine and he is very happy. I know they are not all the same but most babies adapt easier than we think to new situations. best of luck and yes all babies fuss about something xx
  18. I put scrap mdf on the forum for free and people came for it...
  19. I know it's not ed but we get on the 37 to jelly tots in herne hill. Always best to check their Facebook page before you go though in case there is a change to opening hours x
  20. Hello I agree with above posts that all children are different and have different needs but also young children adapt very well to most situations you put them in.... Well this is what I have found. I will give you the nursery perspective. I went down the childminder route but unfortunately she went awol 3weeks before I was meant to start back at work. I managed to get my son a place at a nursery last minute. He is thriving, he loves it. With the babies there is always at least one member of staff to 3. The staff are a mix of ages and I would say I know them all very well... And of course each child is assigned a key worker. Yes a couple of the staff are young, but I see this as a good thing. I always stay some time at the end of the day and discuss what he has done etc. I will be honest and say the first two weeks were hell as he settled in (he was 11 months) but we have never looked back. He does all sorts of activities every day and lots of messy play. He mainly stays with his baby chums in the baby section but at times interacts with the older children which he loves. The older children adore the babes too. I love the fact that I don't have to worry about one person's personal life(sickness/holidays/unexpected catastrophe!) I also love that he isn't in the buggy/car on school runs to pick up other people's children. Many people worry that their baby won't sleep/eat well at nursery but they have managed to put him in a far better routine than I was able to. Maybe it is more chaotic than with a childminder but hey our life is fairly chaotic anyway so he needs to get used to it. With a nanny I am sure the major plus is not having to do the childcare commute and returning to a nice calm (not chaotic) household! Whatever choice you make will be the right one for you and if your first choice falls through (like mine did) then it happened for a reason. Good luck!!! Xx
  21. I did a beef stew in mine last week without browning and it was soon tough. What did i do wrong? Meat too lean? It was on for 8 hours. I do use mine but haven't mastered the consistency thing yet. Sometimes too watery.
  22. Hello can recommend the following: Jelly tots in herne hill soft play Friends say bubbly bees also good for soft play One o clock club/stay and play in Peckham eye Hydro pool in Peckham pulse Bea's baby bop in rye books As others have said edtots website pretty accurate for times etc Have fun xx
  23. I have never read the books but saw one of the films and thought it was one of the slowest, most boring things I had ever watched. I personally wouldn't discourage reading it. At that age I was reading lots of gory Point Horror and suggestive but sloppy Point Romances. I later went on to better stuff as realised after a couple of years the female characters were so dull!
  24. Thanks so much for replying Norwegiangirl. My son will go there, but he is only 10 months x
  25. Bump (again!) Any other views?
