    Dubstep

I'm with Otta, this doesn't sound to my untrained ears particularly different from lots of 'new' home-grown sounds I've been hearing over the last 15 years or so. But then dance music in general, after an initial orgy of creativity, seems to evolve at a glacial pace. It's the one genre where I could head down a club as an old geezer and find the kidz dancing to a musical fabric dominated by music glaringly reconisable from that I was dancing to in my formative years. What's really shocked me is that muso seems to be some sort of pejorative term. That's me told then :( And I can completely see Bob's point re prog. I'm actually quite partial to a bit of it, but you wouldn't catch me looking breoodingly profound whilst tapping my foot (not to anything as vanilla as rhythm goddamit though) to some of Zappa or Fripp's weirder moments that's for sure. Listening to some of the above examples that's exactly what springs to mind though.
  2. undisputed truth aaaah, couldn't resist
  3. "Last week I read:- We Really Must Talk About Kevin - Lionel Shriver" You mentioned this in relation to El Pibi?o's penchant for meat art, I had a quick google and it looked intriguing enough. Recommend? For the record Pibi?o makes stuff out of anything and everything, a stool was an aeroplane, a cone his seatbelt and a shop receipt the newspaper the lady gives you, it was unfortunate there just happened to be some kidney to hand at that moment ;)
  4. I thoroughtly researched the various latin declensions before abitrarily deciding on 'a', now regretting i didn't plump for sudok?

really, this is getting silly. I gather Cyril Smith has joined the club amidst an allegation that he "that the former MP smacked [someone] and stroked [their] buttocks." Blimey, our PE teacher did that to us every week as we went into the showers. It took me about twenty years to realise that he probably got a dubious frisson from it, but I can hardly describe myself or anyone I know as damaged by the experience, I certainly won't drag Mr name removed of 12 address removed's name through the mud on some bandwagon jumping whim. It's a funny old world
  6. In fairness justice is a very subjective concept. I'm sure there's a haqaninetworkforum.af somewhere where amidst the bleatings about is that snobby rifle salesman setting up a stall or not, they're joking about some western minister of justice, chuckling about how they can't even deport someone let alone take them down to the nearest football stadium.
  7. There's a qualitative difference between sudoka? Really?

BBC4 too! I will miss it very very much when I move to Ireland where RTE is a shadow of the quality. Granted I can get beebs 1 & 2 on sky but none of the others, no iPlayer, no Katy *sighs*, no radio on DAB (or whatever Ireland calls it) or even interent I don't think. Nothing is untouchable, but simple corrective action needn't mean hobbling it. Take it for granted at your own peril, you start to lose what it does it'll never come back, that's the pattern of government for 30 years now. Quid's ludicrous hyperbole should just be filed away at his other windmill tilts, Bob's summary is spot on. Oh and Sky has an amazing war chest with income in the billions, it's not some helpless minority broadcaster struggling in the face of an unstoppable public behemoth, that's an untruth that News International has been pushing and the Murdoch's have been bashing in the face of pliant politicians for an age.
  9. here's an article http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2007/feb/20/probablynointernationalagre I liked the quote "Instead of Venezuela asking for expensive advice from McKinsey or some other vendor of teenage consultants, it could come to London" plus some balance from a man with a bit of a bee in his bonnet about ken http://www.vcrisis.com/index.php?content=letters/200806041335

Given the dearth of really solid information about what's going on you can probably say just about anything you want and make it sound convincing. That said, it certainly has a ring of plausibility about it.

Isn't recyling effectively a weather modification program? That document is actually quite interesting but hardly damning. Pitifully small budgets given to research into the viablity of cloud seeding as weather modification. Controlling our environment against the cruel vagaries of nature has been a human goal since we built big stone things or sacrificed stuff to the gods. Their efectiveness is another matter. If you're worried about our exposure to chemicals you're far better off drawing attention to, say, the use of organophosphates and antibiotics in farming than fantasy stuff about jet liners dumping chemicals in the sky.
  23. for music files I'm using subsonic. You set up a server on your home pc, and then you can stream it via browsers or ios/android apps and can configure it to allow users to download files too.
  24. you got approving rather than disapproving glances did you D_C?
