  1. "dropbox syncs between all devices that your account is running on " really? shows how much I use it. I thopught the point of it was that you have a cloud repository and you acn choose what you want to acess on any of your devices rather than synching all files to all devices, would seem a bit pointless if this is the case. I thought the former dave, but I could be wrong.
  2. dropbox? Not 'any sort of file' but mainly because uncracked tablets tend to be a bit antsy about alowing unfettered access to their filesystem.
  3. That's quite cool, I'd say it's way behind 'I was in the back of Geoffrey from Rainbow's cab' though.
  4. In sainsburys I saw that bloke who plays the grumpy chap in the Nights Watch in about 4 scenes of the Game of Thrones, hows that for nonentity (but more famous than me) spotting?
  5. 10 years in the hood and I've seen about two pub fights and a few parking violations. It really isn't that bad is it.
  6. Was it biscuit man finally axed the hammerettes? They were a bit razzamatazz and thatsort of US dazzlemongerence just doesn't work with a bunch of birds from darkest dagenham. #piece of advice, when trying to find the spoof picture of Victorian era Hammerettes don't type 'victorian hammerettes' into your browser and hit 'images' whilst at work in a sober swiss bank.
  7. Andrew Bird's new album Hands of Glory. A delight!

    US Election

Well, compromise deals are a start, and truly the meat and potatoes of politics, I hope the representatives have the decency to cooperate rather than do financial brinksmanship again.

We were led by TB, which I always thought oddly appropriate.

    HD TV advice

Is it definitely full HD, rather than HD ready, ie 1080p? If not then the benefit is limited. Also some HD channels really aren't much to write home about and some programmes look better than others. BBC HD should look at least pretty crisp and their nature shows should make your eyes bleed a bit with the clarity, if not something is wrong in your setup somewhere along the chain.
  11. I don't think it's necessarily getting worse bob, I think it's just getting tired, the more those same plinths and flames things and the same pants gets played out, the more you just see the strings rather than the dazzle, even for those of us who were willingly suspending disbelief to begin with.

    US Election

To be fair RD,I think this "I know Europeans think he is swell because he has bought into carbon as a source of "global warming" and cozied up to the riffraff in the Middle East and Europeans are entitled to their opinions." says more about your mate than it does Europeans. I do find the hero worship a bit odd, but 90% of it can probably be explained by his STILL not being George Bush and his nefarious cronies. A political animal is exactly what he is, and given the polarisation of the country and the massive inertia of the Washington machine I think he's probably steered a pragmatic course in domestic politics, bringing down spending in real terms and changing the direction of federal emphasis about as quickly as you could a superduperwoopertanker. I'm ambivalent about his foreign policies. "Buying into carbon..." hilarious. Actually what he's attempting to do is Limit the USs exposure to energy risk by reducing dependence on carbon sources from the riffraff in the Middle East, and as quids has often been at pains to point out, much of that strategy is increasing the output of more carbon sources in the US. He has returned to a multilateral approach and has genuinely reclaimed moral leadership for the US in the world, sensibly leading from behind in Libya and cajoling and encouraging the Arab spring (not that such riff riff know what to do with democracy obviously, look at the wonderful gift of democracy they were given in Iraq and how they didn't do what they were told with it), and walked softly whilst being seen to carry a big stick regards China, plays well with the voters and with the powers that be in China, though is stoking the fires of nationalism there, and more dangerous fires there are not in this world. He's pulled/ing out of deeply unpopular not to mention pointless and expensive wars, more kudos, but on his targeted assassinations I think he's in danger of killing the soul of America the way it has done of Israel. As Otta said, he now has a mandate to take more risks, but ultimately I don't think he has an idea of how he want s to reshape America except to aim to try heal some of the deep wounds of partisanship in politics. How you go about that I don't know, religion as a political force is very much that proverbial genie bottle situation, and it'll take more than the good will of a president of any persuasion t solve that.

    Politicians

So many new labour folk, but aside from the really obvious ones Blunkett deserves a stab at most awful politician of the last decade. Gove of the current crop.
  15. Plus trousers long since ceded to La Piba!!
  16. A duumvirate of numbers one and two sons.
  17. Panto, not pants, damn you auto correct. Not to mention that's twatted not twitted, DYAC!

    US Election

Basically each state has a bunch of votes to choose the president. These used to be posh people put there through almost completely opaque systems, weird ballots and suchlike, but are now essentially block votes according to the popular vote. The discrepancy between state populations and the number of electoral college votes they have mean its possible to win the popular vote but lose the election. Not that dissimilar to here where the third party usually get between a fifth and a quarter of the vote but less than a tenth of the seats. I'm sure Americans without direct experience of our system find our presidential election (sorry force of habit after Blair) equally odd.
  19. And yes, Christopher is just awful, truly awful.
  20. I think this will be Gary's last series. Hs insistence that Rylan is some sort of travesty getting rid of real singers. Well if dull cruise ship karaoke of Magic FM's greatest hits is your thing then perhaps, but he's missing the point that Rylan is the sort of thing people want. He's awful, he can't even do pants well, but he's the best this series has to offer, hence why the entertainment factor this series is dangerously close to zero. Yeah Lucy was passable, but no better than, say, Kate Nash who's career has seemingly already burned itself out. Ella, yeah she has a good voice, will she be another Adele? I doubt it, not if she's banging out SyCo tosh. Aaaaand that's it. And X Factor being twitted by Strictly. I think Mr Cowell is going to have to shake up the format all over again if he want s to keep his pop idol gravy train on the tracks.
  21. Should I be disturbed that the number one ring tone on my ringtones app thingy at the moment is the jim'll fix it theme?
  22. Having watched the season finale on beeb 3 this week you could do worse than watch Lilyhammer. A one dimensional send-up of The Sopranos it may have been, but it had a good script and a whole host of fine comic turns. Steven Van Zandt provided much of the comedy in the sopranos, and hones Silvios character to comedy perfection here, but the supporting cast are absolutely impeccable most notably Trond Aurv?g (yeah, I had to look it up) as his hapless but earnest sidekick who would steal every scene he was in. Daft as it was it was an absolute joy.
  23. Oh that The Unit. I watched a couple of episodes and something just seemed very very wrong. The moment I saw it was a David Mamet thing it all made sense. Awful stuff.
  24. *breathes on fingernails and polishes them against chest* Loooking gooood!!
  25. Yep, the ALttP recipe has been cloned a million times and it was actually one for the more annoying facets to that game's many brilliant innovations.
