  6. I'm pretty sure it was a pound, but it was a long time ago now. here you go..."Sharon Bott ... ?will show everything for 50p and a pound of grapes?
  7. 50p and a pound of grapes
  8. I like to think he read my description of twitter and went 'hmmm, fair point' *cackles as jack of the strafer variety gets all hot under the collar about his beloved twitter* ]:->
  9. I'm inclined to agree that we're pushing the ol' racism sensitivities a bit far getting worked up about froggies or the Hun. It's usually meant as light hearted ribbing or tongue in cheek. I guess I get the zero tolerance give them an inch and they'll take a mile approach to racism, but in reality I think it undermines the real issues and gives rise to the dreaded cry of 'It's political correctness gone maaaaaaad'. I might take slight umbrage if you describe me as a lazy dago though (which one of my teachers did thinking about it....though I was pretty lazy at school) but I won't take it to heart ;-)
  10. Thanks for the precis BR, that was too hefty a block of text devoid of whitespace to plough through. UDT, freudian...you wrote that sat by the banks of a babbling brook perchance, or were you just looking out the window at our "summer"?
  11. "The biggest benefit parasites in this country are": Vodafone Google HSBC Barclays
  12. Gaaah, stick to your guns man!! Fluidly is brilliant if it's poetic licence. If you're claiming fluently is better, what you're really saying is fluently is correct and fluidly is incorrect, which may have to go on record as being the first time you've ever admitted to being wrong ;-)
  13. "but was of its time" I dunno, It's probably even more relevant today, though as you say, if anything it makes the campaign trail back then look almost charming, parochial and makeshift compared to today's overblown, slick, attackvert filled nonsense. Modern US political campaigning, now that really IS hateful!
  14. Hmm, american studies will do that to you *looks uncomfortable, makes little figures of 8 in dirt with outstretched toe* I did stick with history on the whole if it's any consolation....errrr to me. Wholeheartedly agree about Bukowski and Burroughs (lets throw in Kerouac whilst we're at it), though I have a soft spot for H.S.T. especially on the campaign trail.
  15. Ever charitable Ted, I now feel bad for being 'snippy'. Are you one of those people with photographic memories, that was almost scary!
  16. I think it was this lazy cliched article that caused a stir, courting comments such as "You are Bang on about the less than yummy mummies and their evil spawn!!!!", where she revelaed herself to be a firstclass twonk, unless I remember wrong. But that's the privilege of youth, to be able to arrogantly look down on everyone and think you have all the answers. I'm sure once she actually grows up and realise she has none of them, her writing will improve, rather than be the proverbial and aforementioned "shit smeared mutual backslappery turdfest".
  17. Today being a case in point. There is something about that twitchy, mobile based, plink before you think, 120 char format that especially lends itself to it though.
  18. Is this an anagram competition? Say hitch tart?
  19. Isn't half term over? Oh god, do grown ups actually talk like this these days?
  20. "The god of Dawkins" "yes we are all individuals. Yes we are all different" *enough with the python references today already*
  21. Twitter exposes people as arsehole shock! I used to think Twitter was just a place for solipsists and narcissists to wank in the public domain and hence served no useful purpose. Now I realise that giving solipsists and narcissists a place to wank publicly and alert us all to their onanistic bent is exactly why twitter is useful!
  22. Seriously woodrot, don't hold back, tell us how you really feel. (though I agree, tediously, again)
  23. But can he talk in a Dutch Acshent?
