  1. Advice changed hugely between pregnancy of Pibi?o mkI and MkII (who incidentally arived yesterday, huzzah!!). Shellfish is fine as long as it's cooked. Cured meats are by and large fine now too, I think they realised it that Queen Victoria was on the throne last time someone got listeria from a slice of saucisson. Cheeses, just blue and unpasteurised are off the menu. She can probably eat more than she realises if she's not taking the strictest outdated NHS advice or the shrillest threads on mumsnet as guidance.
  2. Center Parcs, that's the one ;-/
  3. Sooo, no boozing, no gourmet, no pampering. Some sort of ascetics weekend in a monastery?

Of course the easy availability of drugs is not down to the failure of law enforcement to curb supply, but actual CIA/Mossad policy!!! I would know, I had a moment of clarity after make a nice wild mushroom salad after foraging in the woods the other day.

caveat mailtor http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1241775/Every-British-bank-note-contaminated-cocaine-weeks-entering-circulation.html It's all of them apparently

By the sounds of things the population are doing a pretty good job of dosing themselves. Is there any truth to the thing about 90% of bank notes in circulation tested have traces of cocaine on them?
  7. Yeah I'm reading it now, matchsticks in eyes.
  8. The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino. Basically an episode of Morse set in Tokyo. The Inheritance of Rome - A History of Europe 400 to 1000 by Chris Wickham. As good as history books get really. Good mix of social and political, enough unusual primary sources to add colour and plenty of myth busting about the 'dark ages'
  9. He's making the point that they wouldn't have got there without him. It's all about him yoiu see, not the team. Narcissistic personality disorder I think it's called.
  10. I think you'll find most of us played rounders at school ;) To be fair we all use hundreds of phrases where the origins are lost, obscure or misunderstood. I don't think you need to be an active participant in something to be able to analogise or use its terminology. Although I rather liked the exchange in Episodes this week where Matt le blanc says: - come on take it, it's a chick magnet and MAngan's character looks slighlty nonplussed and says -really, does anyone still use 'chick magnet' (MLB pauses a moment) -huh? Yeah ... I think they do. We still use it here anyway. Made me chuckle anyway.
  11. She had a fine leg if I recall.
  12. Just for woodrot, stewart lee's take on scottish hero william wallace http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybQCNb4AuW4
  13. According to the contamporary diaries of Niwe Cnotta Shakespeare doesn't qualify either because he's a) a woman b) a patsy for Christopher Marlowe and c) a committee of rosicrucian illuminati
  14. "zero sum game" it's like nails down a blackboard for me.
  15. "Fab front door" This has to be lacquered in irony surely. Lollipop sticks in your spokes are fab, space dust is fab, not a grey slate front door.
  16. That answers the question about which poster's house it is ;) *Bob* Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Excellent publicity. > > I like those new(ish) sorts of townhouses. Syria

Excellent article on the repurcussions of the Syrian rebellion in Lebanon http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2012/05/15/lebanon_s_little_syria?page=full
  18. I'd love to go but with El Pibi?o MkII currently 5 days overdue it's looking highly unlikely.
  19. Plus it's, you know, tickets for Lords!!!!!
  20. very good nashoi!
  21. Six of one really. There's a lag in the other direction too, especially as android phiones are by far the majority of smartphones and java is much more widely known than objective-c. PLus I don't think there are any killer apps that either have exclusively. Photosynth is exclusive to iOS, but occiptal 360 is on both. iCloud isn't a killer as fropbox is available on both. For hipstamatic see instagram and pixlr-o-matic etc etc. I'd say you're asking the wrong question, if you're going smartphone route then then main things to consider, which should point you towards a phone rather than an OS. The order will vary according to everyone's priorities 1) Interface (for me this is everything. get any of it wrong it the little irks will end up grinding you down. I had an old samsung (pre samrt phones) that made me want to garotte passers by every time I used it it was so awful 2) Battery life. Let's face it, all smart phones are pretty bad. iPhone has improved but used to be woeful. My Galaxy S2 is ok, but for the most part they're all plug in every night, the question is will it even last the day. Check out user reviews, manufacturers technical specs aren't worth the paper in my experience. I have read that the new nokia (windows mobile is it happens) is very good in this respect. 3)Camera. Ok so granted most of the instagram type things try to lo-fi the quality and then crucify the quality when compressing for upload. But I do take alot of pics with my phone when I don't have proper cameras and it's nice to have the option to use it as a camera. again the S2 is excellent quality, the video too. Sony Ericssons excel here, iPhones are pretty rubbish to be fair though rumours are that the 5 will finally have something that competes on that front. 4)Entertainment - I can't really comment on this much as i prefer dedicated gadgets for music, reading, video etc as I'm loathe to use that precious battery life, but again check out the individual phones, go to shops and get hands on is my advice. But again I don't think the OS is that important unless you're so very very keen on iTunes.
