Forest Hill Road/Colyton Road Roadworks
Girl82 replied to Renata Hamvas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Argh - so we have to suffer this for over another week? PLEASE tell me there are no more works planned after March 15th. I and many other residents are at the end of our tether. -

I haven't any experience of > the buses not stopping this week You obviously weren't one of the large group of people waiting at the bus stop at 8.40am this morning then, when an empty 63 sailed straight past and stopped at Friern Road.

P.s. My commute has been disrupted for the last nine weeks now. When is it going to end??
-
Spark67, there is a sign up on the bus stop, but it's not very visible at all! I agree with neilson99 - it is a complete joke. If the council has so much money that they can afford to resurface roads and replace traffic lights for no reason at all, perhaps they should be giving Southwark residents some money of our council tax bill instead.

Forest Hill Road/Colyton Road Roadworks
Girl82 replied to Renata Hamvas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
^^^ The traffic lights are set to be completed this week? They don't look anywhere close to being finished to me, and it's Thursday now! Please could you tell us how long the resurfacing is going to take, and is that the last lot of works on Forest Hill Road? The council has made commuters' lives a misery for two months now, not that anyone gives a damn I'm sure. -

I also live on St Aidan's Road and have recieved no notification about this. Does the council actually bother notifying residents at all? It really doesn't seem like it. Please tell me this latest development doesn't mean the bus stop by the Herne Tavern will be closed? -
the-e-dealer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dont worry the Colyton Road Works will slow it > again! :-( How long are they expected to last? I would like to know what difference the Peckham Rye/East Dulwich Road works have made. The road looks identical to how it did before doesn't it? It really has been murder getting to work this year, I can't believe that all the disruption was worth it.

I thought these works were due to be completed at the end of February, but this morning it actually looked as if they were finished!!! My journey on the 63 took about ten minutes, as opposed to the 25/30 minutes I've become accustomed to. Of course, unless it's my ignorance, the junction looked exactly the same as it did before the works, which begs the question, why did they bother in the first place?

New shop - corner Forest Hill Road & Dunstans Road

P.s. Just checked council website - sounds like it's going to be a dental surgery: Location: 4 FOREST HILL ROAD, LONDON, SE22 0RR Proposal: Details of the proposed new shopfront as required by Condition 7 of planning permission 12-AP-1161 for: (Change of use of ground floor and basement commercial premises from a driving school (Use Class A2) into a dental surgery (Use Class D1) involving the installation of a new shopfront and the erection of a two-storey rear extension with enlarged lightwell). -

That work seems to have been going on for ages - and is being conducted at a snail's pace! The state of the pavement is always really muddy around there now as well. -
I tried to catch a train from Peckham Rye station this morning and according to Trainline.com, every single train from about 8am into London was cancelled or severely delayed. I therefore decided to stay on the 363 bus to Elephant and caught the tube from there. A lot of other people also got on the bus at Peckham Rye station, saying they'd tried to catch a train but it was proving impossible. The bus was so full that it didn't stop for most of the journey to Elephant! I just hope the trains are working again tonight, as I'm not to keen on getting the 12 all the way back to East Dulwich!

These works are an absolute nightmare - and I can't believe they're going to be carrying on for 8 weeks! I've had to start walking from Dunstan's Road every morning to catch my train, as with all the chaos, you can't rely on the bus to get you there in time. It takes me about 20 minutes to walk it, which isn't too bad - but I'm dreading the morning that it's pouring with rain or snowing!

noisy neighbours from hell (Dunstans Road)
Girl82 replied to achilles1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry to hear that. Do you live near the house - and have you tried talking to them at all? -
camberlou Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > I also love Review Bookshop on Bellenden Road - > they are so helpful with suggestions and > recommendations. > Hi Camberlou, have you visited Rye Books at 45 Upland Road as well? A great little independent bookshop that opened about six months ago. They do great homemade cakes and coffee!

London Overground line extension timetable

LondonMix Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Anyway, the bus of a rush hour is a > poor substitute for the train in my opinion but is > fine for off-peak journeys of an evening. Er...well that's what I (and others on this thread) are saying too!! And I get the bus for a 6 or 7 minute journey at the moment. Slightly different from taking it all the way to Victoria. The fact is, it's much better for us Victoria commuters to get a direct train from Peckham rather than either taking the bus (frankly not an option if you have any kind of job where you're expected to get in on time) or having to make a change at Clapham Junction. -

A few nights ago actually, when I regrettably took the 12 from Oxford Circus to Barry Road. It took about an hour and someone pulled a knife on the bus. A lovely experience! If I was getting the bus to Victoria for work, I'd be catching it from Forest Hill Road, and boarding the 63/363 route. Last time I checked, neither of those buses stops at Victoria, hence having to make a change. I'm sorry but I don't understand - are you actually trying to say the scrapping of the SLL is a good thing? -

As an East Dulwich resident who works in Victoria, I am really upset at the loss of the South London Line. It feels wrong that in this day and age, places like Peckham are becoming worse connected to central London. Suggestions that we use the bus to get to work are ridiculous - it would take several changes and at least an hour and a half to get to work, and that's on a good day. -
If I were you I'd call back whoever cut your wisteria, as they've obviously interfered with a wire! It seems like it's their fault that your signal has been affected, so they should fix it free of charge! In the meantime a portable aerial may work - although when we were waiting for our cable to be connected, our TV barely worked at all just using a portable. I guess it depends where you live and what the reception's like?
-
Just did a quick google and it came up with W Coe on Forest Hill Road - I'm guessing that's the one you mean! Thanks :)

Bit random, but does anyone know if there's someone in East Dulwich who could take a look at an amp (circa 1970s era), turntable and speakers and repair it? I can't even begin to think where I'd go!
-
Whereabouts in Dunstan's Road is this? If you mean the dog that seems to make a constant high-pitched yapping noise at the Forest Hill Road End, then I've heard it too. I hope it's not in distress...

I've walked through this wood a few times in the last year, and each time I have noticed some belongings and a sleeping bag under that bridge. Luckily I've never actually seen their owner! It seems like someone is bedding down there on a permanent basis though. I'd have been really scared in your situation - well done for calling the police! Hopefully they will move him on.

I agree - that bit around the entrance of Peckham station is disgusting! It smells horrible and is almost always strewn with litter. However, did you know it is set to be redeveloped? I think work begins in December, although can't remember where I got that from!
