Values, respect and discipline seem to be the key problem here. Irrespective of the "haves" and have nots", arent all these things free ? What responsibility do the parents of these children have ?

Heavy weights issues aside, I think there is a huge improvement. I went this morning and all of the old (and very tired) machines have been replaced. They have installed alot more of the latest equipment, with more variation. Generally, I think they have used the far bigger space really well, so it feels and looks alot more like a proper gym now. Not sure about some machines needing to face each other, but I guess it depends on who's opposite! I think its blatantly going to be packed for a while following the official opening, but Im hoping it wont be too hard to use the equipment having waited this long! I must say that overall I think the Membership fee at Fusion now feels much more like value for money- even more so for somewhere local and if you compare to the prices in major chains.

Rook replied to LadyTaTa's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If you can leave early its very rare you get an issues with Jubilee line. Never a nice prospect I know, but I go Peck Rye to London Bridge then straight there in about 40mins each morning -

Can you recommend a book for would-be fathers?

Not sure there are any good ones! Either way, nothing beats a trusted mate who has been through it- for a clear and honest view of the whole shebang (over a pint if possible!) Failing that heres some advice - "keep your head down and get on with it" Having been through it myself, I think that just about covers all the areaas you mention.. -
This morning it was definately a case of chancing your arm. For me, there were 63 and 12 buses running and trains heading from Peckham Rye to London Bridge, but not to timetable. Some guy was permanently talking over the tannoy at Peckham Rye- asking commuters to ignore the screens, but instead (helpfully) explaining when the next train was due and from which platform. Thats all we want on these ruddy snow days...clarity! To that end, I would really appreciate if anyone can advise what the 'homeward bound' service is looking like, should they experience it before 6pm. For me, thats trains from London Bridge to Peckham Rye/East Dulwich. The national rail website is utter tosh and is not real time, so instead if you experience this route first hand and can give an accurate take on the frequency/reliability of service (or not) as per your experiences, it would be very much appreciated cheers :-)

First day of the new Dulwich Swimming Pool
Rook replied to Weegee's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry I know this thread is supposed to be about the pool, but the temporary gym situation is dire. Someone has already given an accurate take but basically everything is gone- certainly in relation to the weights machines/facilities Smithie I was going to enquire about cancelling my membership - but did you ask them about maybe putting it on hold?Id be happy to do that until after the work is done. Unfortunately I cant get through but Ill let you know when I do. Id be amazed if they expect you to still pay for what is a pretty non existent gym James B - have you seen it? its not short term pain its a con!!! -
Buying a house in East Dulwich? expect sealed bids!
Rook replied to Pendragon's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I would say be careful with sealed bids. Agents will definately imply there are other bidders in order to get you to go higher, when this might not actually be the case at all. For this reason sealed bids are very open to manipulation with no way of knowing the exact situation I dont agree with some of the other posts that they are fair- they are not legally binding and youll probably find that the seller (in a state of intense greed by now) will still be open to further counter offers anyway! I think they simply tap into buyers paranoia- and force panic offers. One thing is for sure....youll end up probably paying alot more than the place is worth so youll have to be sure you truly want it and will make the money back. I am in agreement that house prices will drop very soon- for that additional reason I would definately avoid like the plague at the moment ...but theres nowt as queer as folk! Best of luck searching. In additional to the general economy its also just a question of supply...other places will come on soon, eradicating the need for sealed bids and will drive prices lower too. Waiting 6 months is better than sitting in negative equity! Other nice houses will appear!- good luck -
Getting into town this morning (Tues 22 Dec)
Rook replied to Ant's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I went to Peckham Rye. Few delays and cancellations to London Bridge but fairly normal service then! Got in fine....buses seem ok too, main roads are clear. Go for it. -

Just looking to draw on your experiences ladies.. Im wondering what would make a really good gift for the missus once the baby is out. The baby itself will be more than covered off for gifts (already is!), but after you gave birth was there anything that you wished you could have/can now say you would have loved and truly desired as a great gift? ...Im looking for something for HER, basically but Im struggling By the way, Iam already prepared for doing all the chores etc! Im talking about a personal treat here Cheers
