Why don't they install detectors at the gates- this is crazy....I have confiscated weapons over the years...massive scissors, sharpened metal combs...They all think that all the other kids are tooled up so they need to be tooled up....

In the late 1980s the Docklands area were putting on basic English Speaking courses for the many immigrants that were living in North Southwark. They even employed an outreach worker to go to homes and inform people. There were free creches as well. The outreach worker reported back and said that many of the husbands of Asian women would not allow her to even speak to the outreach worker or take literature in their own language. We assumed that the husbands did not want their wives to be westernised....

As well as the operating hours they are also supposed to minimise the pollution by containing dust. I reckon the fact that we have the third worst death rate from asthma in the EU is partly due to uncontrolled building work, and rules not being enforced, and the builders are not aware of the rules or choose to ignore them until a concerned citizen phones the Council.

Conversation between science teacher and an able female year 9 student (who happened to be wearing a purple and green International Women's Day ribbon),engaged in a classroom experiment (in the South London Borough of Lewisham) "You've set out your equipment very well Emma" everything was in the right place and labelled, and neatly recorded in the exercise book, and the girl proceeded to carry out the experiment efficiently and precisely. "Have you thought about doing all three sciences in year 10? You certainly have the ability." "No Miss, not really". "Do you like Science Emma?" "Yes Miss, but I just want to leave school and have babies as soon as possible"..... -
Leaves on the line? There must be a solution one day- they would not deliberately upset the general public because they know how hostile it can be.

It seems that the PM's plans to increase involvement in thwarting IS are being scuppered by Corbyn and the Lib Dems and some conservatives), although I wonder if the Paris horror may change some minds- although Corbyn will not allow a free vote..

The public sector employers, and the BBC most probably, commit racial discrimination all the time since they restrict the employment of white males - it was a standing joke in school that the preferential order of employing someone was, Favourite- black woman, 2nd, black man, white woman on equal footing, and if you were a white man and saw any of the aforementioned waiting to be interviewed you may as well go home.

It took him long enough to come up with the racist card especially since the whole incident was witnessed by a family in the hotel. He is probably looking for an early retirement with the compo...

Last Christmas when the thing was going on in North Cross road I was walking past the mosque and there were 2 youngish (about 7 and 4 )children there with a man. The entertainment was in full swing and the boys were looking in the direction of the stage. Then the man took them up North Cross in the opposite direction...

Poor White Boys are the worst performing pupils

Before the East European builders came the whole construction sector apprenticeships and training had been neglected for some years because the powers that be thought that kids should get loads of GCSEs and go to uni. Obviously when there was a skills gap it was much cheaper and easier to let in foreigners (we could have had 2 years' grace like France and Germany had but the Labour government didn't take it)than to train the British kids. Also when the East Europeans came they were renting housing en masse (my sister is an estate agent in East London and regularly let homes to 6 or more of them) whereas our tradesmen had mortgages, children etc to provide for and could not live in that way. A friend who is an electrician had regular work and then found he was competing against men charging ?20 a day - then he was called in to issue a certificate (renewing the qualification is expensive for a self-employed electrician or gas-fitter btw) and after inspections found several that were sub-standard. Wiring too close to the edge of floor boards for example. A whole sector of society has been massively let down by a system that puts great store on academic achievement, and at the same time has ripped away the system that enabled the working classes to actually realise their potential. Just goes to show that Labour is no friend of the working class and exploits it relentlessly and always has done. -

Having worked in a school in the 90s and 2000s where there was little encouragement from parents for the white working class to accumulate GCSEs, let alone A levels, because their dads were 'white van man' and doing OK. Then we all know what happened to those kinds of jobs...thanks mainly to the middle classes wanting their building work etc done on the cheap -

This attack on the front line services was so predictable after the Tories got in...happens every time... -
All the kids think they are British, only the white kids think they are 'English' fyi- how do I know? Because I f-ing asked them!

Best laptop for secondary school - advice please
uncleglen replied to Cora's topic in The Family Room Discussion
schools have ICT teams and they would be the best to advise so that your child can access the school remote apps for HW etc -
I'm afraid that Southwark are really neglecting their street properties as well. Under the Warm, Dry, Safe initiative for which they got EU money they were supposed to upgrade but the street properties- i.e. family houses, are not being kept in decent repair or being upgraded. So points 1-4 of the OP apply

Adonirum said that when children are young they happily play together. This reminded me of when a colleague and I were looking out onto a secondary school playground and she said, 'Look at that', and I looked and did not realise until she pointed it out that all the Chinese kids were in one area, all the Africans were in another area and the English kids were in another area....there were a couple of mixed race kids in with the English, and a couple in the African area. There was football going on and that had a mixture of kids- so yes they will all PLAY together but maybe not socialise when they grow up and gravitate towards people with the same ethnic background

Let's face it we can all 'walk the walk, and talk the talk' because we know if we don't we will be ostracised by the vocal 'right on' majority ...but who knows what we REALLY think...

I remember seeing her near Denmark Hill- she reminded me of Miss Haversham from Great Expectations.

I can't get my head around the fact that we still have state funded 'faith' schools in the UK given the brainwashing nature of these morons that mainly use it to discriminate against other people...

And there was an illegal rave or something in London where petrol bombs were being thrown- it seems that these yobs and anarchists know the police are stretched and are taking the opportunity to make complete nuisances of themselves. Examples will need to be made of the perps that are caught, or the general public will mete out its own justice
