  1. Locking them up is like sending them to a finishing school for crims- I know that a lot of them think that some sort of record, or mug shot on 'Most Wanted' is a badge of honour...must be second generation..
  2. The medics have known about all this over-sugaring and all the other dangers of sweeteners etc...like they knew about smoking related disease in the 1950s. So (cynicism coming up) it will be 20 years before anything is done. All we get thrown at us is how much diabetes is costing the NHS (it's horrendous, my dad has it and the side effects are awful, and he cheats and says 'one won't hurt' and stuff like that..)etc and no one is tackling the root cause..there are still ridiculous vending machines in schools for example. Good on Jamie.
  3. They all think that everyone else is carrying that's the problem. A lot of them carry other implements and thinking about it and having experience of the alternatives, I doubt if metal detecting arches would make much of an impact....makes me wonder how they were 'brought' up- although the American sociologist Charles Murray did predict 40 years ago that by making it lucrative to breed we were breeding an underclass as the underclass breed 3.6 kids per family as opposed to 1.2 kids for the 'educated' classes.....doesn't take long for that to make an impact + almost unrestricted immigration in the Blair years....recipe for disaster
  4. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.....
  5. Mark has seen the most recent South Parks then? Is this an unofficial revival of 'The Drawing Room'?
  6. What you've got to remember is the absolute archaic, medieval mindset of some people. I suppose we have to wait around for 500 years yet for them to evolve
  7. There was a fatal stabbing of a schoolboy in Ilford at lunchtime yesterday...outside of the Kid's Company region I think....
  8. What a surprise- it's about time those arches were installed to detect weapons
  9. Yes, in school I've heard black Africans calling West Indians 'slave' and was also involved in a case of an African teacher being clearly racist towards West Indians. By far the worst thing that I came across was a Turkish boy relentlessly bullying a Turkish girl in class. I took him outside and he said he was allowed because she was his cousin!!!! It is also interesting to note that the kids in the playground all group together- in their ethnic groups.....and the black kids frequently call each other n***** It's utter chaos
  10. first mate's post about the Labour politician getting on here just to criticise James Barber etc reminded me of the incident in the council chamber. And yes I loathe voting for any of them because anyone who actually seeks political power can't be trusted on anything.
  11. Cheapskates- musicians union says ?31.50 per hour!
  12. Mine started in the juniors (7 or 8?) with 3/4 size nylon string guitar. It was fine except for the 6.30 practising every morning including Sundays and insisting on an audience...still it is all to be encouraged
  13. I was at a council meeting some years ago and the Tory councillor was making a point about a particular street in Dulwich which was the subject of the agenda item. One of the Labourites( a well known one) got up and said that although he did not know anything about the road and the situation in question, he was opposed to what the Tory councillor had said....and it was obvious to those present that the Tory councillor was right and that the Labourite just opposed him because he was a Tory...I've never voted Labour and I never would- especially after that piece of abject lunacy.
  14. If it's any consolation, the weather reporter said yesterday that it is cool for the time of year....
  15. Anthony Crosland (Labour fyi educated at Highgate School and Trinity Cambridge)) started the rot of closing the grammars and the only way to appease the left was to continue with the destruction. You can't tell me that this country has not suffered from years of mediocre, wishy- washy education when schools in 1988 were boasting that they offered GCSE in Turkish....and NO Latin ffs. (and I am not joking about the Latin either).I expect the idea was to keep the masses under-educated and then the privately school educated Marxists could then guarantee their votes generation upon generation.
  16. 'Helen' 'smashing pair of tits'- sounds more like Richie in Bottom......posh git, fallen on hard times...
  17. I put mine on for once in the morning because my daughter gets up early and has a bath. It is set for 17 degrees anyway. Our bill for the same house size is ?190 a month and we have an electric cooker. We very rarely have the heating on during the night, as the last few winters have been mild ( I was around to remember 1963 so that's my reference standard!)
  18. Yes, and there's always Gumtree and EBay.....
  19. Bloody traffic wombles...where's Jeremy Clarkson when you need him?
  20. What a coincidence- a new grammar school is going to be created...Labour actually passed a law in 1998 banning the creation of grammars. Oh dear the politics of envy....
  21. More insight into the death of grammar schools. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/secondaryeducation/9167347/A-new-era-dawns-for-the-grammar-school.html I went to one in West Ham My school pals were sons and daughters of doctors, dentists, jailbirds, drunken tugboat sailors, university lecturers, publican, etc etc.....level playing field...

    VW

Yes *Bob* difficult- especially as my friend will not use or be near anything manufactured in China.....as for clothes- charity shop- I let others make the first purchase. It did occur to me when this story first broke that compared to all the construction- generated shyte in the air, especially around here and in the city, the VW extra pollution is nothing.
  23. Well, main post office in LL was closed today due to computers not working.....
  24. On the tube fairly recently we got held up before Camden as you do, and when we were about to set off the driver said "woo,woo"....
  25. We should have a Thanksgiving holiday here for the harvest...or don't we produce our own food anymore?
