    Greece...

From Wiki: In 1942, the Greek Central Bank was forced by the occupying Nazi regime to loan 476 million Reichsmarks at 0% interest to Nazi Germany. In 1960, Greece accepted 115 million Marks as compensation for Nazi crimes. Nevertheless, past Greek governments have insisted that this was only a down-payment, not complete reparations.[1] In 1990, immediately prior to German reunification, West Germany and East Germany signed the Two Plus Four Agreement with the former Allied countries of the United States, Great Britain, France, and the Soviet Union. Since that time, Germany has insisted that all matters concerning World War II, including further reparations to Greece, are closed because Germany officially surrendered to the Allies and to no other parties, including Greece. On Sunday, February 8, 2015, the Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras appeared in front of the Greek parliament and officially demanded that Germany pay further reparations to Greece.[2] On April 6, 2015, Greece demanded Germany pay it the equivalent of $303 billion in reparations for the war. Germany replied that the reparations issue was resolved in 1990.[3]
  5. The worst ones imo are the foreign people who take their pre-school/nursery children into sainsbury's and then speak to them in Polish,Spanish, French or whatever their native language is. The shop is an excellent place to use English so that your child, when he/she goes to school, will be able to converse with the English speaking children and not need remedial classes which, imo, is a waste of vital resources.
  6. Chanson de Matin by Elgar sends shivers up my spine and is 3:35 and for violin and the piano accompaniment is easy
  7. I know it's not ED but the 'Perfect Chicken 'place in forest Hill is now the 'Ferfect Chicken' place...and the 'F' is properly stuck on?
  8. Just come from there with a white van up me tail pipe!
  9. The Bye-Laws are on the gates of the park.....I don't think you are allowed to inflict your music on others using the park for one thing
  10. Devon is lovely but a bit of a drive for a weekend. New Forest is preferable I think

  13. I was under the impression from research years ago that rats are intelligent....they make me cringe though. My son cheerfuly informs me that cockroaches will survive nuclear devastation
  14. I periodically travel through the Rotherhithe tunnel and most of the journey to the tunnel at 0945 is clear. Luckily I was behind a funeral cortege so there was no difficulty in keeping to the 20mph!
  15. From the Shropshire star paulwoo51177866 May 26, 2015 11:09 Well as a landowner here are a few a few local facts from the two hunts that cross over our property area and by the way I am not a hunt supporter never have been and never will be..... but. The two hunts in our area are nothing to do with so called Toffs. Most participants I know are actually what I call ordinary people. Not even the landowners who are my neighbours are involved. Since the ban our lamb deaths per season had gone up 400% to the point that at great expense we have had to build a new lambing shed as a security to ensure we get a return. We no longer keep chickens due to constant intrusion and death and no real secure way off fending off the foxes. I have no gun licence but very obvious now is the number of dead foxes on the side of the road that have been shot by people. They are a regular feature. We do not allow the Hunts on our land but what has become evident is how brazen the Fox has become with little or no conflict in the countryside to the point that they are a regular sight in the smaller towns and villages in the area cheesing a awful lot of people off in the process. Opinion has changed greatly in my local area and I do wonder how long before we see a wider change in the public view. I am not a supporter as I say but I certainly will not bat an eyelid when I pass a dead one on the side of the road.
  16. What a shame that the idiot bloke didn't break his neck.
  17. To the 2 cyclists that almost mowed me down.....we are in a 20mph area
  18. I expect this tube strike is linked to the changes in the tube workers working conditions as they are dragged kicking and screaming into the 24 hour working day in 21st century London
  19. Drivers already get 7-8 weeks a year holidays and work a 4 day week. If they want more they should take up teaching but they would have to take a substantial pay cut and be prepared to put in a ~57 hour week to do all the prep and marking- not to mention dealing with errant kids at break, lunch and after school.....
  20. 6 pm during the week and 1pm on Saturday- no work on Sunday. They are not supposed to start before 8 am. We had this sort of trouble and the foreman left his foreign gang there and they could not speak English. Had to get the council in because they also caused a lot of pollution against the building regs.
