I work in an open plan office. Right behind me there is a team that deals with our account enquiries, they are essentially a help desk, so they are on the phone alot and cannot be as quiet as other teams. However, there is one VERY VERY LOUD lady, with a voice like Pauline Fowler turned up to 11. She appears to be very resistant to leave her seat and seems to think it is OK to have long work and non-work related conversations across the office. I spoke to her manager about this soon after they moved in at the end of last year, but she is just getting louder and louder. I have a banging headache as all I can hear is her all day every day. What is the best way to tackle this? I don't trust myself to be tactful when I just want to stuff a rag in her gob.

Herne Tavern play area to be demolished
reeko replied to cazzyr's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have no issue with parents having a few bevvies whilst the kids have a bit of a muck about. The issue with the Herne is that as soon as the sun comes out, guaranteed there will be more than one grouping of adults with multiple kids, getting pissed up and not paying enough attention to what their kids are doing. Inevitably the kids misbehave, knock over drinks, lamp eachother, push each-other off swings, shriek endlessly, minesweep left-over drinks unseen (I have witnessed all these things first hand, most of them more than once) This creates a situation that may be family friendly but is down-right hostile to others. The Herne is a pub, not a playground and by getting rid of the climbing frame and sand-pit it sounds like the new owners are seeking to restore the balance whilst not putting off responsible families. Hopefully everyone will win, and those wanting to get pissed whilst looking after kids will head to the park where there is ample room and they won't be disturbing people paying the guts of a fiver a pint. -
Herne Tavern play area to be demolished

Well *bob* I went pretty easy. I witnessed a young Tiberius in there once, I shit you not. -
Epping forest is great. You can get there by trian form Liverpool street to Chingford. Lots of trails to explore and not too far away.

Herne Tavern play area to be demolished
reeko replied to cazzyr's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I never thought the Herne got it right. A) It smells of farts B) The floor / bar top / table are always sticky like they are never cleaned properly c) Thier lager is crap and the white wine even worse D) It is expensive E) The food is average at best F) Instead of catering well for families and children it simply gave the place over to them. The Herne is the go to place for parents wanting a day on the booze without having to pay too much attention to their children. On many an occassion I have seen little Johnny / Millie / Jack / Ruby been pretty much left to run riot whilst ma, pa and friends get sozzled. and once or twice i have even seen Johnny / Millie / Jack / Ruby left behind by pissed parents. There is a balance and the Herne has it wrong. I hope the new owners can make it more hospitable for all - it is a pub afterall, not a creche or playground. -
Completely scandalous. The title should be Gategate.

My gutters need a good clean out, Mr reeko not really up to the job.

Ooooohhhh you super sleuth.

Give it a rest uncleben. You are getting seriously tiresome. James, thanks for your efforts, happier to know that something is being done to tackle one and two star establishments.
-
Ted - do you have a big pipe that needs attending to?
-
FFS UncleBen - I get it, James gets it, even people in the family room get it and their brains have been turned to mush by sleeplessness and baby talk. The rules state James cannot request re-inspection. That doesn't make it sensible or right. If a restaurant has gotten a rotten score and has not been reinspected for six months or longer, can you give any reason, other than "thems the rules", that James or any other citizen should not want to see these establishments re-inspected? How is this in the customers interest?

Travel advice - 2 weeks, ?1000, 3 girls, where to go?
reeko replied to bloonoo's topic in The Lounge
Lucky you - how about Morocco. A week in the cities and then a week trekking in the Atlas mountains. Yummy food, pretty exotic, not too far away, something for everyone. -
UncleBen, Thanks for pointing that out that all restaurants might not have the same standards of hygiene. What with me being so naive and all, I may never have it figured out. Does anyone else get fed up with the eternal Barber bashing on this site? I am no lib dem fan, but castigating a councillor for trying to improve hygience in local establishments seems perverse in the extreme. But I suppose thems the rules - eh UncleBen?
-
I understand the rules uncleben, have to say as a customer, I welcome all and any efforts to drive up overall food hygeine standards. I Wpuld much rather bnot have to consider this as a factor when eating out. I would much rather be able to assume that all establishments were at least three stars. If re-inspection on helps achieve this then I am all for it regardless of who requests it.

A-ha thats were you are wrong. If all three of us swapped sofas then we could die alone on someone else's sofa, not nearly as bad as the alternative - at least we tried to change things
-
Quick, lets swap sofas
-
Thankyou csaddleton, I also thought your suggestion was excellent, however I was left with a nagging feeling that I too will die in my one bed flat, sitting on my ever uncomfortable sofa that I have never gotten around to changing.

Tell your landlord it is haunted - you had it exorcised and everything but it had to go.
-
Are you suggesting someone is Tortuous Convolvulus? (Been a while but Wikipedia refreshed my memory - twas one of my favourites when I was a nipper). Is it me? I don't think I can claim that much credit really - a vague change of wind direction seems to be enough to stir some people into a frenzy. Edited to say- just checked on the hair-dressing thread. Am I clairvoyant or what? And can I state I neither know nor have met anyone on that thread - just to nip any conspiracy theories in the bud - for that is my next prediction

You could even enter her into the Lovely Girls competition

Actually pee-dealer, I have a medical condition - way to go - mocking the afflicted. Next you will be taunting Hugenot about his big and weirdly shaped head. BTW WTF is a tongue tie practicioner, do they say red lorry yellow lorry really quickly?
-
well thank Christ for that - at least you didn't take her on holiday to Vegas.
-
At least I don't sell piss for a living - peeeeeeeee-dealer
