I would like to learn how to brew my own beer.

A horse-drawn tram service once operated down Crystal Palace Rd, learned that on EDF today I did.

Perhaps because local people ALREADY know what it's like up to 11.30 + the trollied drinkers passing by on their way home. Experiencing another 3 hours of it may not teach anyone more than they already know.

Good to see the post box was there, almost the only recognisable feature, besides the bridge/station buildings.

In terms of 'style', if you're a bloke, I'd say that spending ?100 - 280 on jeans is just trying to impress. The act of paying so much is not 'stylish', jeans are finite in how 'stylish' they can be for men. Style does not translate to big expenditure automatically. There are many 'styles', 1000s in fact, there is no right or wrong way to dress unless its what you believe is your 'way'. If one is looking elsewhere to see what's 'in' today, that's when you've lost the plot. To seriously try and relate what you wear today to some film star months later seems to me some kind of enslavement - who cares what Brad Pitt wears now or next year, seriously ? And where does Brad or any other celebrity qualify in being the benchmark for how you think you should look ? Utter fluff and bollox surely ?! I pity anyone who steps out the door worrying whether their 'outfit' fits anything other than their own construct of what they should look like. Anything else would be a sell-out to your real freedom of choice. Your 'style' guru. KK

My understanding is GE still want to proceed with (request for) using outside courtyard smoking space for drinking/serving drinks ? This will create noise for those living close by whereas that space I believe was never previously used.

Of all the places available to travel to in the world I completely fail to see the point of a trip to Dubai. Shopping malls ? Tall buildings ? Fake ski slopes ? Try Isaan, Sigariya, Angkor, Perhentian Islands, Kuching, all within the OP's listed destinations.

I have tried making various music for years with no aspirations for making money, I'd starve immediately anyway, but to stop making music because it cannot generate money would be insane ! The whole point is the kick from doing it, those (for me) infrequent moments of satisfaction, just like painting or poetry or other art forms that I'm equally shit at. People need to get away from this obsession (not specifically at you EP) with making everything a 'success', especially financially, bollox to that. And bollox to the thought that people can't produce their stuff feeling safe to 'fail' and make mistakes and try again to improve, to their own tastes, if they want. Interests outside work are a pleasure field to wander through, not job prospects - otherwise we're just turning ourselves into something we invest in.

A kilo of free-range chicken wings is ?2.65 at the Willima Rose butchers. Marinate with Walkers Wood jerk seasoning, onions, garlic, soy sauce, salt n pepper, ginger powder, if you put in a coupleof freezer bags you can squash it in to the spaces available in the fridge (unlike a big bowl) it will also help you in 'turning-over' the contents. A couple of days in fridge. BBQ roast it when the charcoal's settled. Can of Red Stripe. Sorted.

I'm just concerned that pigeon-holing with music (or the arts in general) simply does not work. Saying pretentious v commercial is a bit like saying it's Ska not Reggae, there will always be a subjective dimension to it and therefore as a catch-all construct it is useless, except as a vague way of asserting one over the other, which is what I think is being done above, to assert some kind of superiority or grandeur of knowledge.

I've been to a few of the 'jazz in the Round' evenings at th Cockpit this summer, far from commercial but some of if for me is quite prenentious. Therefore Pretentious music = NON-commercial music too.

I've recently started using the weekday train service between Denmark Hill and St. Pancras and very fine it is too. Yesterday someone told me its being axed (will only run South as far as Blackfriars), but I told them I thought it was the service between London Bridge and Victoria (via Denmark Hill) which may be stopped. Of course, these trains actually run from like Sevenoaks/Kent House to Luton/Bedford - my journey is a tiny bit of the entirety, so I'd expect many people to be affected (my trains always seem busy esp. rush hour). Anyone know if the DH -> St. Pancras service IS being stopped ? Cheers, KK

The spot on the wall in the bedroom where I lean my head when sitting-up in bed has become slightly discoloured since decorating the room three years ago. I may post a picture of this phenomenon.
