  1. Ditto contact your insurers and push for them to do so. Many moons ago a similar thing happened although we had no basement to flood. The council (one of the English local ones, can't remember which) came back and re-did the pavement.

I'm just quoting the online journey planners - which also show a 1740 train running this week, but not next.

Yup, let's hope the 4 carriage ensemble was just a one-off! I got onboard around 1733 and got a seat, standing room shortly after. That 1740 looks to be in the timetable all this week then from next week the 1730 and 1750 are reinstated and the 1740 disappears. Morning trains also go back to normal.

Good website overall for transport issues in general. Could be that this emergency timetable lasts for quite a while.
  5. Well the 1808 from London Bridge train still has seats. Only 5 minutes late in leaving.
  6. I got a number 40 from Townley Road around 0755, got to London Bridge around 0845 so not too bad. I normally get the 0810 train which arrives London Bridge 0826. Anyone get the 0730 or 0830 train? How was it?

  8. Don't forget also that walking distances are quite short around there, you could easily get to Piccadilly Circus from that location in 10 minutes, then Bakerloo to Elephant and Castle, then either a bus or Thameslink (if feeling like a challenge) to Peckham Rye
  9. 1 Northern Line to Elephant and Castle/Stockwell then bus 2 The 176 bus from Aldwych 3 Northern Line to Waterloo, Jubilee to London Bridge, train to Peckham Rye 4 Northern Line to Waterloo, Jubilee to Canada Water, Overground to Peckham Rye 5 Treat the TfL planner with a pinch of salt From August, he could walk down to Charing Cross and get a train to London Bridge, then onto Peckham Rye, which would be much cheaper. None of these options apart from the bus should take more than 40 minutes
  10. It's also going to affect a load of school kids and those who travel to stations south (Wimbledon especially). Not just those who use London Bridge

  13. > Given the reduction in services does anyone know > if the cost in a monthly ticket will be reduced > accordingly? Mine has just run out. No, but you can claim compensation on a daily basis per journey (so around ?2 a day).
  14. Some Southern users took out a full-page advert in The Times http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-news/commuters-group-takes-out-newspaper-11575925 I can see that we have more options (short walk/bus journey to Denmark Hill/Herne Hill/Peckham Rye depending on where in ED you live), along with the 40 bus; but those options are already at capacity and are unlikely to cope well with next week's cancellations.
  15. And according to this thread http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=129571&page=23 There is a 1730 ECS (empty coaching stock, i.e. an empty train) from London Bridge to South Bermondsey...which then sits for 5/10 minutes or so minutes before forming the 1746 South Bermondsey - West Croydon service. A farce.
  16. "During the amended timetable, you will be able to claim compensation against trains cancelled in advance or against delays experienced on the day." And you can exchange the vouchers for cash at any Southern ticket office. As a rail only season ticket holder that is...80p per journey! Hardly worth the hassle. Time to dust off the bike this weekend, the 40 bus and Overground will not be able to cope. When is this dispute going to be sorted?
  17. On a recent trip we took cabs to and from East Croydon to get down to Gatwick, both times early Saturday morning, and it took exactly 28 minutes from Dulwich Library (roughly following Jeremy's route above). I presume during rush hour it would be a lot longer - personally I would follow BicBasher's suggestion on taking the Overground from Forest Hill (around 17 minutes)

    Fox cubs

Male urine - without being delicate, pee in a bottle/jar in the comfort of your toilet, then spread it round the garden. Fresh is fine. Foxes will shortly disappear. Very effective.

  23. It's unrestricted I think, it's just the bottom bit with stall markings that is no parking on Saturdays

Agreed, Southern management sent out a memo banning shift swaps and overtime: http://www.brightonandhovenews.org/2016/06/15/is-this-the-document-that-proves-southern-banned-overtime/

Journey Planner show the tube instead, click on "details".
