For full disclosure, this was the topic where ken78's comments were deleted: /viewtopic.php?t=2288796 The seller is trying to sell a professional knife sharpening machine. The seller even posted links to other places where the same device sells for full retail price. Its a totally legitimate listing. ken78's deleted posts were along the lines of 'this tool isn't needed / too expensive'. There is absolutely no need to make comments like this. The seller has every right to sell items like this on the forum without someone else completely uninvolved in the sale making negative comments about it. If someone is selling an item in bad faith, then you are welcome to report the post, but in this case there is absolutely nothing wrong with the listing. There is no specific forum rule saying 'you can't discuss or post negative comments about other people's listings when you have no involvement with it', but it common courtesy that you shouldn't do this. The rule list would be far too long if we had to clarify every single scenario of what is respectful and what isn't.

Someone was selling a professional knife sharpener in the For Sale board and you were trying to jeopardise their sale by posting that it wasn't needed / too expensive / etc. Hence these being removed. Not the first time you've tried to do this either. The for sale board isn't a place to have a chat and criticise people's items for sale. That's incredibly poor etiquette.

There used to be a "ED businesses, restaurants & trades" section, although over time >80% of the topics in there ended up being trades related requests/recommendations, so to give it a clearer purpose, a few months ago it was renamed to Tradespeople & Service Requests. Most of the ED restaurant/pub/shop related topics ended up going in the General ED Issues / Gossip board anyway, which I think is the best place for them. The description of that board on the old forum suggested they should be discussed there (see screenshot below), which was a little contradictory If there is enough demand, a new dedicated ED restaurant/pub/shops board could be added.

Hi, The green tick means there are unread posts in that topic. Grey means everything has been read. Similar to an email inbox. You can delete your own topics and replies for 30 minutes after you've made them. After this time, you can still edit the post using the pencil icon just above the post text. If you have listed something for sale which is now sold or unavailable, you can edit the title of your post message and add 'SOLD' or simply remove the text.

It's a hard topic to moderate and we don't always get it right but it does stray off topic a lot. It doesn't help with that ohthehugemanateeLTN being a pain, they keep re-registering with email addresses like: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] We understand that trolling is easy fun, especially when you get a reaction to your posts, but maybe look elsewhere for fun because it makes moderating even harder.

No problem, and nice one for realising!

Apologies, I should have been clearer. Yes, some messages have been removed e.g. "Cllr xyz is a d**k" so my message would have looked out of place. I don't have time to read and clarify all messages and their content, but when it continually strays off into political fires sparked by how "the council are corrupt" and "the council are not corrupt" then it gets boring. Thank you for self-policing, it really does help.

I think there's been a change to the server certificate, someone's looking into it. You should be able to access it from here /

No updates yet, it might be some time before I can investigate and fix I'm afraid.

Enough already. There were more posts after yours. Yours on its own was fine. Thread locked. -
How odd, I've started seeing them too. I'll have a dig around to see if I can get rid of them!
-
How odd, there are no Criterio or pop up ads on here!

Please stick to the LTN topic
