  1. 60w is 60w. If the maximum rating is 60w - then a 60w CFL would be tops, not a 15w (if you could buy one.. 30w is the most you'll find, I think) One of the few advantages of the CFL, a dismal innovation in most respects - is that you can fit a brighter CFL bulb than an incandescent without exceeding the rated wattage.
  2. Don't worry everyone.. the original features, all eight regulars and the ?8 float have been carefully numbered ready to be re-assembled - exactly as they were.
  3. Do people really use the word 'staycation' with a straight face?
  4. Property anecdote #59 (in a series of 50000000) A house we offered on (in 2006.. you know.. at that peak, before it all came crashing down) just sold again for an extra ?250k.. nothing added to it spacewise either. ooh, aah, house prices, thwack, thwack
  5. Will you be keeping chickens?
  6. The above-generation of *Bobs* all have solar panels. It's terribly exciting, watching them scurry into action to 'put everything on' as the clouds part. Installation was timed with military precision to make use of generous subsidy grants and sell-your-leccy-back-at-guaranteed-prices though - the same deals are no longer available, I don't think. I get a regular electricity production report from my Mother over the phone - which I obviously look forward to enormously. A geo-heat-thing is also being investigated but I suspect they've worked-out they'll have pegged-it before it recoups the outlay.
  7. I'd just go with 'to whom it may concern', Brendan.

  11. e-petitions.. you gotta love 'em This page (on the direct.gov website) is my favourite
  12. Tottenham fans could be excused and allowed to wear blue. Either way, I think it's a brilliant idea and is sure to bring the government to its knees.
  13. That's the one! Mind you - his waiting staff are a little odd.
  14. There can be only one. The Japanese version of Iron Chef.

    Sushi

Not to mention winning various awards (shiniest joystick in show, fastest login - to name but two) I doubt it though. The first rule of Sushi Club is that etc etc (message brought to you live from The Bedsit)
  16. That's a shame. Just checked with a friend though - apparently directions now go by way of where hole int road used to be.
  17. My apologies - I meant Hole Int Road
  18. Do all directions (received or given) on the street in Sheffield still require mentioning The Hole In The Road in some way or other?
  19. Stay away from the old Ladybirds. Grisly endings guaranteed. Take Chicken Licken, for example. Hardcore.
  20. These are what you need. To be honest you could just light some candles, put on BBC/21 and give them the LP cover to look at. Job done. http://www.endlessgroove.com/issue2/horrorsfx.htm Available in all good charity shops.

That's a good point, Henry. Perhaps in half a century of so the grand-fronted villas and mansion blocks of SE22 can realise their true value.
  24. Yes, we moved here from Notting Hill... when the opportunity to upgrade our pretty 2.4m pastel-fronted mews cottage overlooking Westbourne Grove to a leaky semi with subsidence close to Peckham, we jumped at the chance. With hard work and - god willing - we hope to be in Catford before the end of the decade.
