I don't agree with it

Surely, by now, the phrase 'weapons of mass destruction' can only really have a very limited usage - as a feed line for jokes on panel shows.. that sort-of thing? It was completely ridiculous in the first place. Say it a few times. It even sounds ridiculous. Possibly a bit harsh.. and a fair point that a lot can happen in twenty years (or rather, not a lot) Is having an army made-up of a genuine cross-section of society really a good thing? Like any other profession you ought to have people that 'fit' and are good at it, not people who are made to do it. All our dentists are drawn from a genuine cross-section of society. That's conscription for you.

I have the words of one of my old history teachers ringing in my ears from nearly twenty years ago: "Israeli army.. enemies on all sides.. efficient and tough as old boots.. hard as nails.." Of course he'd never been to Israel. The people I know who lived there described the (mostly) conscripted army as a unpredictable rabble of undertrained, frightened and often drunken young men who also happened to have guns. This latest incident - coming not long after the Dubai thing.. Is it just incompetence - or simply not giving a sh1t? Probably a combination of the two.

If you are planning on cultivating an obsession, at least try plump for one of the tried and tested routes (a beautiful yet unattainable woman, computer games, designer shoes, Star Trek etc) A obsession about the Liberal Democrats? That's serious weirdo territory.

By it's nature and separation from 'the rest', the DR attracts a small percentage of people who know a large percentage of facts. Many of the threads progress by fact, by figure, by stat and by fisk. Unfortunately, a large percentage of people, including myself, hardly know any facts at all. And given the choice, most people just don't want to expose themselves as the ill-read and uninformed retards that they know themselves to be.

It's not the television. If it's boring you, you're at liberty to pull your finger out of your ass and make it more entertaining. Or fuggedabahdit and do something else. Complaining about it being boring is not going to make it more interesting. Complaining about it being boring on another forum which is 'proper boring' is surely a sign of mental imbalance - and possibly a sign of having an underdeveloped penis.
