  1. I used to be a stand-up kind of a guy, but now I like to get the first wipe in whilst I'm seated.. and then play it by ear. And my suspicions (from a few years back) about Andrex Bog Roll still remain.
  2. Ah yes. "The Josey Wales". I forgot about that one. V good also. Familiar territory too. Clint's a cinematic icon for sure; but whilst he may have a great face and (at his best) simply sweat screen presence, his acting capabilities are seriously limited. Clint's best roles are always just playing Clint - and that's that. Once you remove the cool-factor, I'm not even sure he's any better an Actor than, say, Arnie Schwarzenegger.
  3. Honk if you're Penk.
  4. I think we all know the specific mode, make and model of transport that figures in this particular index.
  5. I watched the Clint double-bill too last week and found myself thinking about Easty in his directorial capacity. He's a kind-of workaday pluggaway director more often than not. His films are usually competent and worthy but they seem to miss a spark of something or other. Even with LFIJ, a decent effort (an easily the better of the paired two) - he has highly-charged subject matter, a good cast, decent budget but.. there just seemed to be a whiff of the miniseries/tv movie/melodrama about it, which I couldn't quite put my finger on. Only occasionally (and usually in familiar territory - apart from 'Play Misty For Me') does he seem to break free of this (High Plains Drifter, Unforgiven). As for his non-directing/acting fillums: Leone obviously the ultimate fit, but 'The Beguiled' (a early Siegel collaboration) is a great film as well.. if you can spot it when it pops up at 3am on a weeknight every few years.

  7. All I know is that she hates all shops selling overpriced goods aimed at the middle classes except for Ann Summers, which is a shop which sells overpriced goods aimed at the middle classes. And we're going skiing together next year.

It's not that bad. You're ok unless you're a communist, homosexual, a woman, black, poor, not a Christian etc.
  9. 'Fraid I know nothing about the 'Upland Road House of Hell' All I can tell you is that I lived next door to a charitable halfway house - experienced zero problems, had no difficulty in selling and am glad I didn't miss out on a fantastic flat because my Dad might have maybe heard something about somewhere and because someone on the internet assured me I'd be strangled in my bed no sooner than I'd obtained the keys. If you really like the flat, then do a bit of research, assess the place carefully and make your own mind up.
  10. I used to own a flat in a building next-door to a very large halfway house. It was the best-kept period house in the area. Restored and repaired all over by the residents. Front and back garden immaculate. Rules about noise outside in the garden etc strictly enforced. On occasions where there was a rumpus in the street of some kind, they were always the first out there to assist. Shame the fine upstanding citizens who owned the flats below me were such a massive pain in the arse.

Coincidentally, music 'from Peckham and Camberwell' is currently being discussed in The Lounge.
  12. Someone needs a quick lesson in PR.
  13. 1. Which of the following are you most worried about: a) Litter b) Parking fines c) Nuclear war d) X-Factor Result 2. "Global warming is bad": agree or disagree? 14. We received our survey a few days back. Are we supposed to fill it in, or should we let our son do it at nursery? Hard to tell, from the questions.
  15. Do you Twitter, Steve?

  17. Whatever it's called, let's hope it can be as roaring a success as the East Dulwich Info Exchange was on Facebook.
  18. I'm looking forward to the Twitter page. Increased opportunities for stalking are always welcome.
  19. The Forum of East Dulwich? The East Dulwich Popular Forum? Splitters.

  21. Mention of locals pubs and BITE gives me the perfect opportunity to revisit some old magic: Snorky's BITE reviews of our local drinking holes.
  22. Good for you, Meddles. The non-superb charms of The Gowlett await.
  23. I don't like 'superb pubs'. They are inevitably full of people whose purpose in life is to seek-out 'superb pubs' and drone on about original etched glass, cask conditioned ales and other superb pubs which are also superb, actually. I'd rather go to the Gowlett. With my mates.
  24. Either that, or an upbeat jazzed-up Tijuana-style version of God Rest You Merry Gentlemen.
  25. As it goes, the 'Cov' is my favourite. It is a Lib Dem thing?
