FACT D Fortunately (for the other grubby chippies which are knocking around), there are still plenty of people who still can't tell the difference between a nice piece of fish, fried to perfection and a greasy bit of batter with a soggy bit of something in the middle. Or if they can they're too tightarsed to extra for it. So everyone's happy.

The facts, as I see them, are quite straightforward, your honour. FACT A Some years back, the brains (what would become) The Sea Cow noticed that: a) Most chip shops in London dish-out food of a poor standard. b) Some people would be prepared to pay a little more for nicer fish and chips, given the opportunity. FACT B The food at The Sea Cow has gone downhill of late. People complained, because people aren't stoopid - not even the wishy-washy octagonal-rimmed-specs media-types in SE22. FACT C The owners of The Sea Cow have acknowledged the complaints and will be getting back on track. I think that's about it, isn't it? I rest my case.

Asset, you should remember to be kinder to Louisa.. you keep forgetting that she was the victim of that terrible surgical blunder down at Kings. It can't be easy having an frozen Iceland vol-au-vent where your taste buds ought to be.

Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Fish and chips isnt that bloody difficult to get > right is it? You'd think it wouldn't be. And I don't deny that Emily's and Sema's turn-out a perfectly mediocre bag of fish and chips. But the fact that I'm happy to travel to a neighbouring postcode instead implys (to me, anyway) that there's more to food than RIGHT or WRONG, even if it is just the humble fish and chip supper. But then I suppose 'right' for you probably just means it's no more than a fiver and there's steam rising from the plate.

Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- As for the > standard of the food served *bob* well i'd rather > eat at somewhere like Semas or Emilys Well, I suppose if you don't have high expectations in the first place then you won't be disappointed. If it works for you - go for it. I'll be getting mine from Ollie's in the meantime and hoping the Sea Cow gets back on track soon.

Not at all, ????. (Although as you may know from another thread of late, I'm a terrible racist myself - so might not be the best one to decide). I'm still waiting for you to bring-up the issue though. What is the issue? Unless you're just saying that the issue is just that no-one's bringing up the issue, whatever that issue might be?

I think this is just about as good as television advertising gets. The fact that the product itself ought to have been unsellable is the cherry on the cake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SAbJjktk7E

Louisa.. good to have you back on form. I drove past a chippie yesterday which ought to suit you right down to the ground. They do Pukka pies, ribs (I think that's what they are anyway), beefburgers hot from the freezer and those big bendy bright orange savaloys that look like something you might buy in a sex shop. You can eat-in, if you like - there's a nice spot by the window, next to a faded promotional poster for a fizzy they stopped making in 1994. I don't know what kind of fish it is, but the price is right (ie cheap) and that's the important thing. I'll try and remember the name and get back to you.

It's not particularly funny at all, to be honest In this instance I was merely asking someone else (????) who had inferred 'it' to put the ?? where their mouth was and say what they they actually thought instead of beating around the bush in a half-hearted finger-pointy manner. Incidentally, if you haven't identified a 'colour issue' (as you put it) in relation to knife, gun and gang-related crime in London, then you could always ask someone from Operation Trident to fill you in. Or speak to the parents of Kodjo Yenga (16), James Smartt-Ford (16), Javarie Crighton, (21), Michael Dosunmu (15) or Billy Cox, (15) - five black (shriek..! that words again!) boys who all met their ends in as many weeks last year. Or put your fingers in your ears, pop a blindfold on and put it all down to coincidence.

The majority of recipe uses you see for Coley tend to be for pies etc, yes.. though I'm sure this is a much to do with the abundance and cheapness of Cod in the past.. something that isn't the case any more. From what I can remember (my Mum used to buy it sometimes) you don't get the same smooth flakes of fish like you do with Cod, and the flavour is a little more bland, but well-cooked Coley and chips is nicer than poorly-cooked Cod and chips. It's a lesser fish than Cod, no doubt, but I expect this will be reflected in the price.. especially as the price of Cod keeps going up. And up.

Like Cod, only not as nice.

I finished on Tuesday. To be fair, I hardly got started. However, one of the pitfalls of not really getting started tend is that you don't appreciate it when you finally finish. So enjoy the pub, you lucky, lucky people!

'Working in the sex industry' could mean stripper, pornographer, prostitute, retailer of butt-plugs.. anything.. But somehow 'sex worker' can only mean 'prostitute'. -

'Working in the sex industry' is better. Just. -

Yeah.. I'm not saying the majority of the alternatives are wonderful. But 'sex worker' is just plain rubbish. And whilst (in theory) what you say above may be true, I've never heard a stripper refer to themselves as a 'sex worker' because everyone knows 'sex worker' is just a rubbish term for prostitute (etc etc) I think it's high time someone came-up with a decent alternative. -
(Eminem - Who Knew?) Damn! How much damage can you do with a pen? Man I'm just as f**ked up as you woulda been if you woulda been, in my shoes, who woulda thought Slim Shady would be somethin that you woulda bought that woulda made you get a gun and shoot at a cop I just said it - I ain't know if you'd do it or not How the f**k was I supposed to know?

'Sex Worker' is such a crap expression.
