  1. Maybe they're not marginalised, coked-up, working class, living in a divided society or middle class. Maybe they're just c**ts.
  2. Just out of interest.. How do you rate your own pub, Scor46?

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

  5. On the upside, the main drag is relatively confined and doesn't have (and I'm sure, won't have) any nightclubs. Were there not regular punch-ups in the ED boozeries of old anyway? Or were they good old-fashioned rose-tinted punch-ups as opposed to the new breed of Moet-quaffing, Bugaboo-style punch-ups?
  6. Surely there must be a mineshaft in the middle of nowhere we can bring back into service? The methadone can be lowered down to addicts via a bucket on a rope, once a week (once the surrounding fields have been checked for at-risk children and given the all-clear)
  7. No deadlock = devoid of a brain.. surely?
  8. Considering the constant 'child-free' whining that goes on here week to week, an incursion of under-agers would probably be the final straw. In which case - I'm all for it.
  9. Well obviously, you can't, Ted. At the moment, nobody knows who or what anyone is. There may be six year olds posting away for all we know (it certainly seems so from some of the postings).
  10. My first flat in London was a nightmare. Terrible conversion.. the couple upstairs played the same track over.. and over .. and OVER again for days on end. They vacuumed at 3am. We could hear they fighting (physically fighting.. things being thrown etc). They left taps running and went out for the weekend so we could hear the "ssssssssss..." of the cold water tank for the duration. Madness.
  11. Asset Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > apparently they have twice as many collisions as > other buses and that is a statistic from TFL > itself! They're twice a big as other buses though.. so if you compare on a 'number of seats / crashes ratio', it's probably the same. Zzzz.. sorry, just sent myself to sleep.
  12. Perhaps the forum should have 'junior members' - with their names highlighted in a different colour? Otherwise someone might unknowingly have an pop at them, only to discover they're only 11. Registration under a certain age to require consent of an also-registered adult. Private messaging to be disabled for members under a certain age. Everyone else who uses the forum can keep and eye out for anything untoward.
  13. I used to be a bike picker-upper (the ones I could 'manage' anyway) but tend to leave them now. If you pick one up that seems ok but has actually suffered some hard-to-see damage, the owner may be unalerted, jump on and ride off when s(he) returns. Even if the damage is minor, it's annoying to suddenly spot a scratch you never noticed before and spend the day wondering how and when it got there.
  14. madmanhoagy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If you can spend hours on the computer then why > can't we? Because we said so. Now go to your room. Personally I think it's a fine idea. It will prepare children well for their adult working lives (ie surfing the web and cyber-chatting whilst the boss is looking the other way)
  15. How about a 'same forum threads pointlessly rehearsed ad nauseum' free space?
  16. EDOldie.. how can pollarding be 'cruel'?!
  17. Apparently not! That's the beauty of Osbourne Stewart - you could never wish for a friendlier, more honest local estate agent. I love them.
  18. One problem is that the first port of call for an insurance company who is eager to avoid a subsidence claim - is to demand the removal of any trees near to the property, however minor the threat. And why not eh? The cost of doing so will be below the subsidence excess so it's no skin of their nose. Equally, they warn about trees that are outside of the boundaries of your property - more often than not this means on the street. They suggest that you contact the council to ask them to 'trim down the tree'. And the first port of call for a local council (equally eager to avoid having to pay a subsidence claim) is to cut it down rather than trim it. And why not? Once it's down, it won't cost them any more. If they leave it, it will only keep growing. That's the trouble with living things.. they just need too much care and attention.
  19. Perhaps refer to this thread: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,44665,page=1 (The last time a child free blah blah thread came up. I'm sure there were a few others before it as well.
  20. If it's free internet access you're after, just head right over to Osbourne Stewart estate agents, where, as "Mrs Hamilton" says, they "have a public computer at the front of the office where customers can use and search the internet!" Hoorah!
  21. Aha..! Southwark News... your paper has made it into my photo album as well, with the spectacular:
  22. Off the beaten SLP track.. but I think this must be my silliest snap to date..
  23. Tell you what, Alan. We'll witness your wedding on the quiet if you return the favour. Mockney can be the official photographer - although obviously all the faces will need to be digitally concealed.
  24. Alan Dale Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Anyone else going to reconsider there marital > status on the back of this announcement? Yes. We are / will have to. It's boll*cks. It will be down the Snorky route (aisle?) I expect. Why can't civil partnerships be available to hereto couples like they are in some other countries?
