  5. Similar to a Mummy's Boy.. only with more sex.
  6. There are also plenty of women and ladies who like to be girls. It's so confusing. Such strange creatures... Incidentally, rocket science isn't particularly difficult to understand. Not for a man, anyway.

  8. X Factor's loss is potential-CBBC-presenters gain. Is the better-than/worse-than-last-year debate really worth spending any time on? Like previous years, they are adequate for the task in hand. After that.. who cares.
  9. I agree. But on the other hand, they're young (most of 'em). They've got the remainder of their whole lives for the hard face of reality to repeatedly kick them up the arse. If they can't enjoy some fleeting, deluded dream - if but for a moment - before that boot connects with their bum, then when?

I wouldn't get too worked-up about it. It's no worse than going to a job interview and telling the interviewer that, say, you can work independently as well as part of a team. The required bullshoite is trotted out by most candidates as pertaining to the job they seek. This job requires you to explain, once a week, that your life is over should you not get through. Six weeks on the checkouts during the summer of 2013 will sort them out.
  11. Incidentally, Damart Fans, the thermal hood you see in that picture (as modelled by Otta) - I actually own. And I'm delighted to see that not only is it still on sale - but also that the design hasn't changed. A classic.
  12. Is that a knee? Took me a couple of looks. http://www.damart.com.au/Product_Detail.aspx?ParentCategoryID=44&CategoryID=106&ProductID=78877

  14. I know, I know. But I'm going out with Claire out of 4b. Sorry.
  15. Maybe they fancy each other. Salsaboy, can you tell Rosie that Hugenot fancies her? He'll meet her behind the bins at hometime.
  16. The Damart catalogue promised much, but there was ALWAYS at least one torso of a middle-aged man - wearing giant thermolactyl underpants - strategically placed on every page.
  17. As a young teen, looking for thrills, I would often leaf through the Woman's Weekly to the problem page at the back ("Mary Marryat Advises"). There's a quote from there which for reason, stuck in my mind. It went something like: "Boys play at love, when what they really want is sex - for which they are not ready; girls play at sex, when what they really want is love - for which they are not ready". Incidentally there was very little masturbatory material to be found within the pages of Woman's Weekly - and it would be a full year before I was allowed to access the school pornography collection (which was hidden inside the highest canoe hanging hanging on the walls in the changing rooms).
  18. It's hard to identify any definitive turning point with regards to boys; but the arrival of the Kays catalogue would be a good starting point.
  19. Similar recollections.. Most of the bog-standard groping (at a series of house parties) was usually attended by just one year, perhaps with a few interlopers. There was more of an age imbalance when it came to actual relationships, but there weren't a huge amount of those. My first 'proper' GF was younger than me and I got some stick for it at school. but then just having a GF at all would be enough to get some sort of stick! There was certainly no queue of working-age men with cars, cigarettes and vodka waiting at the school gates. I guess the 17 / 15 thing ???? suggests fits. I think it's because that's when girls start to be able to get into pubs and clubs - and when boys had a decent chance of getting served in them. Inter-relations between staff and pupils were the more headline-grabbing stories. Or would have been, had they not been hushed-up.

My current backup system comprises the stuff on the computer itself; then there's the backup of the stuff on the computer by another physically connected drive which is hidden under two foot of cabling at the back of a cupboard behind some other stuff (to deter the quick-rummaging thief). Then there are the 341 DVDs of old jobs which might need to be resurrected at some point. Unbacked-up, which is a worry. Then there's the 'suicide' drive, kept in a lead-lined box encased in Kryptonite at a different address, containing the really important stuff .. so that should our own house be obliterated in the first wave of nuclear strikes, there would still remain some data upon which to rebuild our shattered lives. Though it's probably well out of date now.

RE wireless music: don't think anyone can beat a good ol' Airport Express (or two) for cost (and it's not often you can say that about Apple products). And it fixed our patchy wireless reception at the same time. Spotify and iTunes plays on iPad faultlessly (tested over an extensive, er, session) and have no issues with quality personally.

The thorny storage / backup issue rears its head all too often for me. How are NAS drives - in comparison to a direct connection through, say, firewire800?
