  1. Hi Sue, You could always volunteer for helping out. The friends of Peckham rye are just a volunteers i think so you can't complain to them. But they have really helped to improve the park. http://www.peckhamryepark.org/opportunities/
  2. It was a good vibe when we walked past in the evening and we could not hear too much noise BUT people up the hill got totally bombarded as there was no buffer between them and the stage. One friend said she was in tears by Monday night with the constant base. They got away with it this year. It was kept small, weather was good and they had a lot of bouncers. It made the council some money (love to know how much), but did little for local people, esp as not family friendly. It?s a very small park for this kind of thing. Given the impact on those up the hill on a bank holiday weekend I would say it was not worth it.
  3. Do your own research, also ask a broker, then go for whichever is the best deal.
  4. School nursery?s have highly trained and qualified staff when compared to private nurseries. They are more transparent and accountable which does drive up standards. State nursery?s have a much lower turnover of staff. I was in a private nursery recently and over half the staff were temps who had never been there before. Finally in a school nursery they are in it for the kids and profit does not have to come into it. No comparison!
  5. Hi, I?m in and out of a lot of schools and Charter ED is quite exciting. Teaching is excepionally strong, the curriculum is innovative and dynamic. They have put thinking skills at the heart of the curriculum which is great. Their enrichment curriculum is one of the best I have seen. The kids are in small classes, never bigger than 25 and it?s a small site so it currently has the cosy primary school feel. Because there are no bigger kids to make them more timid they still play a lot of primary games at break time. It is quite cute that these big kids playing hide and seek. It will be a challenge when the new y7 arrive as there are so many of them but it?s only for one term and then they will move to the massive new building (which is going to feel very light and luxurious). Sorry we to go on but it is an interesting place.
  6. You could use a brown bin? Or garden waste sacks from the building in Dulwich park car park. You then leave them out for collection as you would a brown bin. Or the council dump on old Kent road. It?s free for southwark residents.
  7. Sad to see you go James. Thank you for your massive contribution to East Dulwich and hope to see you back in next time.
  8. Just saw it. Was surprised at the level and number of torture scenes. My kids were fine as a bit older but had I known I would not have taken the younger one. I know I?ll sound like an old fogey but I?m sure it would have been an 18 when I was a kid.
  9. Thanks everyone, we are getting the councils people in as they are clearly multiplying. Thanks again
  10. Hi, We are suddenly overrun with mice. Anyone else? Also is there a good local mouse exterminator service?
  11. I also like the idea of a lido but you do need to protect London?s green space. It?s an ambitious project on a very small space of green land.
  12. Why don?t you pay 6/10 of the hours worked and the other family pay 4/10 of the hours worked and avoid the problem.
  13. I reserved a spot today for 20 min as we had a bricklayer coming and he was going to have to unload a lot of heavy stuff. Thank you everyone for not moving the bins.
  14. It is possible to have a mobile phone that does not have the internet on it. If they need a phone, just get them a cheep phone that is not heavily internet enabled.
  15. Imagine they need to earn a minimum of 150 a day to make a living. Its possibly a days work once buying, cutting and painting are taken into account. They might be faster if very skilled, but then they could ask for more money as they are a more skilled trades person.
  16. Also St David?s! Sorry it?s in se23 It?s top quality white bread with LOADS of almost deep fried, thick, chrispy, streaky bacon. Possible slightly mapled. I can never finish one and take the second half home for the old man. Their hot chocolate is also good but not as good as gales. 17. Hi wildcherry, We were on the normal list, not a scholarship list. 19. Thanks, sounds like Thames water are on it, fingers crossed!
  20. Hi Anyone else having problems with weter pressure near the Rye?
  21. We have used him loads. He is pricey but reliable and totally skilled. Anyone can have a bad day? Right now it must be nuts for heating engineers.
  22. Hi, Just recommending Jack Heart the plasterer‭ 07877 805665‬. Did a great job, fast, fair price and kept things tidy. We are planning to use him again already!
  23. Hi Michael Palaeologus James Barber has earned his good local reputation. Its good that we have people that are actually trying to nurture the community. Respectfully disagree of-course but calling people hysterical has never moved a discussion on in a constructive way. Its a bit 'troll'ie TBH.
