  1. I don't Im afraid - but the the northbound buses took a west bound diversion at Marble Arch weirdly. Not sure if they directed cars a different way?
  2. Has anyone bought sedum matting to put on top of their bin covers? Any recommendations for suppliers?
  3. So my conundrum is... I used to cycle a lot before I moved to London, always ok on busy roads etc but stopped cycling when I moved here circa 20 years ago. Getting back on my bike now, but seem to have lost ability to look over my shoulder and keep an eye on road in front whilst maintaining a straight line! Any exercise recommendations for increasing flexibility?! At present if it's a busy road I'm just stopping until traffic goes and I can turn, or getting off and walking across busy junctions.
  4. Thanks for this. At least the site has been updated now! Unfortunately the test forms issued by GPs still have the usual longer opening hours printed on them so you don't know til you get there.
  5. So after schlepping to Kings for a blood test only to find they're operating reduced hours and I'd missed them (not complaining, shortage of staff, I get it), I thought I'd try the new TJ Centre next week. Does anyone know if they are operating at the full advertised hours for blood tests and any sense of how busy first thing in morning?
  6. So, I went for Persepolis in the end and was not disappointed. ?28 for dinner for two and it was an absolute feast with plenty leftover for tomorrow. Babur will be saved for another day. Two other fancy options I found. Artusi do a delivery, as does Cafe Murano in Bermondsey. Both are a bit more 'cook it yourself' but look good.
  7. From the wonderful world of Ian Visits... https://www.ianvisits.co.uk/blog/2020/05/14/the-unsolved-murder-of-the-dulwich-hermit/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weeklyemailblog
  8. Wow! Thanks TheCat - looks great!
  9. Yep! Small selection but they do a dinner date for two with mezze, main course and dessert. Good value.
  10. Birthday coming up and fancy having a nice dinner delivered. Looking for something a little fancier than pizza or Indian but it does need to be veggie. Pondering Persepolis. Any one got any other interesting ideas?
  11. The Chinese/Vietnamese fish shop in Peckham down the side of Morrisons? Opposite Primark? Usually pretty good stock.
  12. Quite a few on the path from Peckham Libray to Burgess Park, although people were put picking on Saturday.
  13. Van and 6 police slowly and in a very leisurely fashion doing a sweep of the Holly Grove undergrowth yesterday circa 630pm. Guess it was a routine knife sweep whilst also providing officers with some fresh air!
  14. We had one removed some years ago. I complained to Council, it was replaced. Disappeared again, complained, was replaced. It then disappeared again and when I complained again I was told that the person who had moved into the house by the bin had been complaining and getting it removed.... Never got to the bottom of it but it transpired that the person in the house near the bin had more clout than I did. The bin was never replaced, nor relocated and yes, we do have more rubbish as a consequence.

    Queues

Ok, how to deal with this one. Was roughly fourth in a queue outside a shop due to open. At the head of the queue was an empty shopping bag. Roughly 3 mins before shop due to open, car pulls up, chap gets out, picks up bag and takes place at head of queue.....

    M&S?

Spider69 - I can only speak for opening time on Rye Lane. Relatively few people and, in the main, being ok about distance. Like anywhere, there are inevitably people who don't respect the distance but I put the onus on myself to step away. Might be annoying and take me a bit longer but I feel safer doing so rather than arguing the toss. Felt perfectly fine this morning but I hear it got much busier later on.

    M&S?

Then very early Rye Lane remains a safer option. V small well- spaced queue at Asda with control on numbers entering. Long queue at Morrisons but equally well-spaced and controlled and actually fast-moving into and through shop. Shops like Khans and Harts Irish butchers v well-stocked and minimal human traffic.

    M&S?

    Cheers KK!

    M&S?

Please. If I knew I wouldn't be asking. Been going to Asda on Rye Lane and no queue first thing on a Saturday so there aren't queues everywhere. Just trying to work out if the longer walk is worth it.

    M&S?

Thoughts on whether there will be a queue at opening time tomorrow?
  21. A half way house between cooking from scratch and a takeaway are the fab spice boxes from places like Khans. Just made a gorgeous chana masala and a lovely veggie one last week.

    M&S?

Last Saturday first thing was fine, although the one by the station was even better.
  23. How is the Coop on Lordship Lane looking. Went in last Saturday at 730am and shelves pretty bereft
  24. Perfect. I am going to a virtual curry club next week so great ideas there for my meal.
