  1. Just ordered the large food bin as we will be getting rid of our garde waste bin only to be advised that delivery could take up to six weeks. Presumably it's going to be at least that long then before they start collecting back the large brown bins.
  2. Well that was fun.
  3. Had missed this report. Can't see how the new arrangements are going to help reduce the problem bearing in mind this was going on whilst most properties had garden waste disposal included in their council tax! https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/high-numbers-of-london-residents-illegally-dumping-garden-waste-a4138031.html
  4. Me neither. It's hard to tell from the image though. Does anyone know if it's name as well as address or just address?
  5. So presumably worth trying to stick up on free brown bags now?
  6. Just arrived home to find a huge dollop of canine poo right in middle of pavement outside my drive. Huge! Must have been left between 6pm and 8pm so pretty brazen not to pick up in broad daylight. Have to say it's unusual to have dog poo left on our street though. We used to have a poo bin on a lamp post at end of street but it kept getting nicked and the council refused to replace it in the end... Weird.
  7. Just heard that one will be opening on Bellenden Road too next month. I think it's going to be called Gather and will be in the old Paul's cycle shop.
  8. Is he this guy - spotted on Twitter https://www.nationalpetregister.org/fp/90903
  9. Ah yes. Sorry!
  10. Ooh no, the nacho cheese bean burgers!
  11. Last chance for a Kevin Bacon - small white elephant closes today.
  12. Hate it at gigs. Stood behind people already taller than me and they just stand there holding their phones in the air so I can see even less? I just ask them, often not very politely, to stop it. Or insist I stand in front of them. Not been clobbered yet but I'm sure it's inevitable....
  13. Ah yes! Is that Dunstans Road?
  14. Similar question: where are the best high points for fireworks viewing? Living in the Peckham lowlands the only plac I can think of is a street corner in Crystal Palace village (which would be fine).
  15. Just walked down two roads that smelled like I imagine Dickensian London did - one in Camberwell and one in Peckham. Truly horrid. Acrid. I appreciate the stoves / fuels need to be compliant with regs, but the quantum of such stoves/fires in an already polluted city is all adding up. Hey ho.
  16. Take care Mr Fox. Come back when you're ready.
  17. Don't know if we have one of these nearby https://communityrepaint.org.uk/
  18. Would absolute beginners be welcome?
  19. I'm a Peckham dweller so have always used this office. You get to know when it's busy so avoid those times. Usually, getting there at 8 on a Saturday is a safe bet for a short wait. Today.....45 minute wait. When I left at 845 the queue was to the car park railings. Four counter staff working and they were being as quick and efficient as they could be but crikey this is an astonishing level of demand for them to deal with. Other impact I've noticed since the change is the significant increase in Royal Mail van traffic on the adjacent roads - and the increase in traffic due to ED callers. Not a criticism of the drivers, appreciate it's quite a distance to come. Just curious to know what the local area impact analysis was when they decided to increase the role of the Peckham office.
  20. Many years ago I came home in the hols from Uni to find my Dad had used all my old copies of Sounds to wallpaper the inside of the garage. That was in the late 1980s and they are still readable now (and not overly brown). God knows what he used, can't believe it was much more than wallpaper paste. Amazing to go in there now and read those old articles but I was furious at the time.
  21. We always use Zest https://www.zestcarrental.com . They include excess cover as standard and are highly rated by Which?
  22. https://www.london-fire.gov.uk/incidents/2018/august/fire-at-a-restaurant-with-flats-above-peckham/ Lordship Lane, Peckham.....
  23. Is this somewhere near Talfourd/Denman etc? I only ask as the kitty looks very like one that appeared on our street a few weeks back, acting much the same. Turned out to have wandered from Crofton Rd I think.
  24. Seems there was a stabbing Peckham/Nunhead around 430pm today?
  25. So long as they aren't wearing flip flops too
