Labour do a deal with the DUP? Are you crazy? In the campaign he talked about having a minority government, hoping for Lib Dem or SNP support depending on the issue being discussed.
  2. Lib Dem. I'm a Remainer.
  3. "I see some car drivers every day who think they have an entitlement to exceed the speed limit, run red lights, overtake the wrong side of traffic islands etc etc. Therefore all cars should be banned from the roads, OK with you? Makes as much sense as your statement. Sorry about your sister, I've got a friend who lost her leg because she was run over by a drunk driver who mounted the pavement at twice the speed limit, should I judge all drivers by him?" totally agree, Rendel!
  4. malumbu, Wales voted for Brexit. God knows why.
  5. his past was ultimately redeemed by his good work in the peace process. Respect.
  6. their heating systems are non existent too. But that shouldn't lead to regressive cuts in the service!
  7. You are correct - how strange! There are 16 minute trains running now, but not in the morning rush.
  8. Bromley is served mostly by Southeastern, not Southern. 16 mins to Victoria. Not too bad!
  9. I once got a Valentine's card and I still have no idea who it was from...really annoying, eh? I think I was about 17.
  10. The only way to deal with these insurers is to challenge them and if you don't get a reduced premium, go elsewhere. That's how their business model works I'm afraid.
  11. Yes that certainly looks like a gas pipe (3rd photo) and the 2nd photo appears to show what was part of a gas log fire.
  12. Some hospitals have this system....Princess Royal down between Bromley and Orpington (run by King's) has a triage system that either sends you into A & E if it is serious, or into Urgent Care which is run by GPs if it's not so serious. I still had to wait four hours in A&E though!
  13. yeah RVJ was at Alleyn's when it was a grammar school
  14. uncleglen, so you enjoy being lied to by the Mail, yes?
  15. from DaveR: "Take a step back from this i.e. stop thinking specifically about the Daily Mail. This campaign is urging consumers to say to businesses, "use your commercial clout as major advertisers to exercise editorial control over the press" Really?? Why not? Why should we be lied to by Rupert Murdoch et al, and of course the owners of the Mail don't pay any tax in the UK according to Private Eye? We don't have much press left that isn't owned by these clowns. I think it's great to fight back against them, especially if they're inciting hatred. Some of you ED-ers might not be fooled, but plenty seem to believe this invidious nonsense sadly.
  16. I've heard positive things about St Dunstans for both aspects; it might be worth also doing a search on Mumsnet for St D's and see what people say, as well as this request.
  17. Your interpretation is correct, Mr Harris. I think they are particularly angry about the Mail and Express
  18. Yes I too have an Art Pass and have found it really useful: easily paid for itself already this year.
  19. The cars companies love 'em because they make a huge profit on them compared to "normal" cars. I agree, they don't fit well in London. I don't get bullied by them. Most don't seem to realise how wide they are and can't cope in an average street width.
  20. Lady N said "TG - when was Amsterdam the size of london? I don't like pollution but I also don't like being spat at and called a @#$%& c*nt by a member of DC staff when he almost knocked me over on his bike as he shot down the pavement..." Neither of these points is relevant to my post!! Obv. Amsterdam isn't the size of London, I was talking about facilities for cycling.
  21. LadyN, Amsterdam began from a situation like London, with cars and pollution dominating. It has changed over the years to the wonderful situation they have today with children, OAPs and all those between cycling or walking in safety to schools, with low levels of pollution. We are slowly moving in the same direction and when we get there our city and suburbs will be people friendly places like Amsterdam. Strange that you prefer pollution. I'm sure you don't!
