  1. Some issues at Horniman end of Underhill. Recently Bradbury Oak House put up a no flytipping sign and I have noticed something outside the White Gothic House opposite BOH in the last couple of days.

Boris has lost count of the number & whereabouts of all of his children. Do we really need more little Boris'? - rather like, do we really need more little Rees-Moggs??

  4. According to the BBC news the RNLI has received over ?200,000 in donations & an increase in interest in volunteering over the last 24 hours in direct response to the racist behaviour by Farage & co.
  5. Dear neighbours, I just signed the petition "Embarrassing the government should not be a crime" and wanted to ask if you could add your name too. This campaign means a lot to me and the more support we can get behind it, the better chance we have of succeeding. You can read more and sign the petition here: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/embarrassing-the-government-should-not-be-a-crime?share=aaa86039-9233-4b41-b090-a0c886763ccb&source=email-share-button&utm_medium=socialshare&utm_source=email Thank you! P.S. Can you also take a moment to share the petition with others? It's really easy ? all you need to do is forward this email or share this link on Facebook or Twitter: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/embarrassing-the-government-should-not-be-a-crime?share=aaa86039-9233-4b41-b090-a0c886763ccb&source=email-share-button&utm_medium=socialshare&utm_source=email

  7. I feel so strongly about this that I made an additional donation to the RNLI in response to the racist abuse the crews and organisation have been suffering (as reported in the press and on BBC). https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-57999224
  8. Thank you RNLI Inbox From: Nick Lowles 'I can?t believe I need to say this, Ilona, but apparently it needs saying. The RNLI are heroes and their selfless service around the coast is something we should all be grateful for. This needs saying now because of a vile campaign to demonise people who are seeking to cross the channel in search of safety and a better life. Some far right activists and media bigmouths are so determined to make people angry about these people that they?ve even attacked the RNLI for rescuing people at sea when they?re in trouble. It?s disgusting and we can?t let it go unanswered. That?s why we?re saying we stand with the RNLI. Can you share our graphic on social media and add your own words of thanks to build up a wall of hope to drown out the haters? The plight of people seeking to get to Britain, to register as refugees, to try and build a better life, is desperate. The numbers of people trying to cross the channel are higher than in the past but still incredibly low. The campaign of harassment and abuse against these people is stomach-turning. We?ve been quietly working behind the scenes to track and disrupt these far right activists and supporting the work of migrant charities. But now the campaign of vilification is breaking into the media, we must speak out. Please add your voice on social media to defend the RNLI, and to say there?s no such thing as an ?illegal? human. Thank you. Nick Nick Lowles CEO, HOPE not hate'

  11. Keeping customers and colleagues safe in store from today, Monday 19th July. 'From today, Monday 19th July, wearing a face covering is now a personal choice in England. - The safety of our customers and colleagues remains our highest priority, so we will be encouraging everyone to continue wearing face coverings if they can. - We plan to retain screens between customers and colleagues at checkouts. - We will also be retaining hand sanitiser stations and all strict cleaning regimes such as the thorough cleaning of baskets and trollies, as well as deep cleaning overnight. - Other covid measures will gradually be removed from store in line with government guidance.'

  14. I have a query on behalf of our neighbours at Bradbury Oak House, the RNIB residence. There was a burglary in one of the flats (very vulnerable resident) on Sunday 4th July at approx 11am. Before the suspect went to Bradbury Oak, he/she briefly spoke to someone inside the common ways of our house, 8 Underhill Rd, having walked down from the direction of Melford Rd. I have been unable to ascertain who they spoke to. The suspect was a black male/female, wearing trousers & a white hooded jacket with a scarf over their head. They entered Bradbury Oak empty handed, but left with their hood pulled up, carrying a plastic carrier bag in each hand and walked up towards Melford Road. I was wondering whether anyone locally might have picked up someone who walked inside the gate of number 8 briefly before continuing to Bradbury Oak or approaching/leaving Bradbury Oak House on their Ring doorbell, or just noticed someone fitting the description. If you did, the police would love to hear from you as they are looking for witnesses. Please see the attached for contact details and full description.
  15. Horniman/South circular end of Underhill OK, but thanks for the heads up (just in case outage spreads further).

  18. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/jul/12/wildlife-in-the-frame-photographers-aim-raise-1m-for-africa-parks-aoe And direct link to sale: https://www.printsforwildlife.org/ 'More than 150 wildlife photographers are taking part in a sale of wildlife prints to raise money for African Parks, a South Africa-based conservation NGO. In 2020, the first Prints for Wildlife sale raised $660,200 (?479,000), with more than 6,500 prints sold within 30 days. This year, the initiative, founded by two photographers, Pie Aerts from the Netherlands and Austrian Marion Payr, is aiming to raise $1m. The prints will be on sale through the online shop printsforwildlife.org until 11 August. Alongside some of the most respected wildlife photographers in the world, such as Greg du Toit, Beverly Joubert, Suzi Eszterhas, David Lloyd and Steve Winter, the sale also features emerging talent from developing nations, with the aim of promoting greater diversity among wildlife photographers. The money raised will support African Parks, which manages 19 parks, spanning 14.7m hectares (36.3m acres), in 11 countries on behalf of governments in Africa, for the benefit of local communities and wildlife.'
  19. SAdly, our local family was not alone in their vile experience. This, from the Observer: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jul/10/he-is-nine-years-old-more-danes-tell-of-being-abused-by-england-fans
  20. THe fans were not 'exuberant' they were drunk, threatening and behaving in such a way as to cause real fear to a young boy.
  21. Saw two swifts over the junction of Underhill & Barry Rd the other day - first time I've seen them locally. Never see them near me at the other end of Underhill.
  22. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jul/09/danish-woman-claims-assault-by-england-fans-after-semi-final Sadly there were assaults in the stadium and on the way home for quite a few Denmark fans. I hope security will be better for the final, given some of the idiots who support England.
