  1. This happened on Underhill (Horniman end) a few months ago - a couple of lads (late teens/early twenties) ringing mine and a number of neighbours' bells.
  2. 'We did it On 15th July 2020 we successfully raised ?15,525 with 255 supporters in 41 days' THank you to all who helped SDCAS surpass their target!

  7. Just come across this: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/16/spain-may-quarantine-british-visitors-in-response-to-uk-policy-coronavirus
  8. I should be sitting next to my favourite Italian lake now, but sadly it all went up in Covid smoke. I'm actually quite relieved, as well as sad to miss seeing friends, as I would not want to import anything nasty and I think we all need to take a measured approach to easing the restrictions and put the health and welfare of the wider community first. Hopefully it will not be too long before we can return to our favourite places.
  9. I have a pair of greater spotted woodpeckers who regularly come into the garden. One of them was refusing to be intimidated by the parakeets this afternoon and would not give up his spot on a bird feeder!! Very absorbing to watch.
  10. Yes, I think unfortunately the security guard forgot she was waiting to go in or there was a change in security guard on the door and the message was not passed on that she had only recently arrived. Distressing for her none the less. I can understand that as, speaking from personal experience, it can be very challenging and upsetting as someone older or disabled when things like this happen. Maybe next time she visits she could have a chat to customer services to let them know what happened so that she and others do not experience similar treatment in the future? Also, in case it does happen again and she is asked to sit and wait (at least they do have seats available!), check what is going on and remind the door staff that she is waiting to go in. I often have to wait for taxis after appointments when I go to the vet etc., so someone could have thought she was waiting for a ride home.
  11. Yes, the phone scams are back - had several over the last week or so. So far only recorded messages, not humans.
  12. I suggest that she contact Shelter for advice by phone/email once the helpline is open after the weekend: https://england.shelter.org.uk/get_help There may be some advice available in the help sheets on the website as well, in particular the page on Coronavirus-related housing issues - https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/coronavirus.
  13. Thank you for letting us know. What lovely news.
  14. Have you been to the Headache clinic at Kings? It is part of the Neurology department. Professor Goadsby is a leading expert and very proactive. Worth getting a referral from your GP for when things start getting back to some kind of normal for outpatients clinics.

It had a significant impact on both the original property and neighbouring properties. Go and troll elsewhere.
  20. Bottom of Underhill appears to have reopened to traffic.
  21. Source: https://www.london-fire.gov.uk/incidents/2020/may/house-fire-forest-hill/ House fire - Forest Hill Today 07:04 Lewisham House or flat fire l Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled a house fire on Melford Road in Forest Hill. The whole of the first floor and the roof were badly damaged. A male and a female left the affected property, unhurt, before the Brigade arrived. A woman from a neighbouring property was assessed at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews. The Brigade was called at 0704 and the fire was under control by 0916. Fire crews from West Norwood and surrounding fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
  22. Police still blocking bottom of Underhill at present except to residents living on Underhill below Melford. No through traffic.
  23. Looks like incident may be almost over as just seen a fire engine reversing down the road.

A police officer told me it was a house three doors along Melford. No doubt we'll find out at some point. Hopefully no-one was injured and they all got out safely. Currently block at bottom of Underhill still in place.
