  1. Have you experienced street harassment because of where you?re from? In a context of rising hate incidents, the Migrants? Rights Network is interested to hear from EU nationals who have experienced street harassment since the EU referendum in June last year, especially if the incident was not reported to police or elsewhere. We would like to conduct short interviews with people to understand the harassment they experienced and some of the barriers to reporting hate incidents and hate crime. This work is part of the iStreetWatch project, which is run by the Migrants? Rights Network and collects information on racist and xenophobic street harassment. If you are able to take part, or to find out more, please contact [email protected]. EE down?

My EE broadband has been slow/sticking for a couple of days. Maybe a little more so today, but I have been able to use it. Landline phone seems fine though. [i'm in SE22]
  3. Pretty sure I posted originally in the Lounge. Please demonstrate that it was originally in the General Section. red devil Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > IlonaM, H-M-B is saying that the thread started in > the General ED section, therefore if dbboy saw it > there when they commented, it was a valid point...

  5. So sorry to hear your news. She looked a lovely dog.
  6. The charity Shelter has a lot of info on their website (just make sure you're looking at English law section rather than Scottish!). They also have a helpline for advice via phone/online: https://england.shelter.org.uk/get_help
  7. Presumably you do leave ED's borders occasionally to venture out into other parts of London. There are lots of charities working with refugees locally and lots of people locally who support refugees. They might be interested in this innovative idea even if you're not.

  9. You could approach Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers (SDCAS) [www.sdcas.org.uk], a super local charity with lots of young families. The main office is staffed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and is based at the Copleston Centre. Address: Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers, Copleston Centre, Copleston Road, London SE15 4AN Tel: 020 7732 0505 Email: [email protected]
  10. From telephone number: 0800 051 0176 Short recorded messsage claiming to be from HMRC notifying of legal action taken for tax evasion. Gives option to talk to an 'agent'. I put the phone down. Checking the 'who called me' website it appears that lots of people are receiving calls. Have reported to Action Fraud [www.actionfraud.police.uk]

  12. 75% is far too high. You should be in the 40s-50s%. I have bad humidity and am happy if my dehumidifiers get humidity down into the 50s%. I don't run dehumidifier all the time, although I needed to initially in the sitting room for a few days when it was 70%. Now I put one on in sitting room/bedroom if monitor goes into the 60s%. A dehumidifier can be helpful. I bought one for my mother who has a problem at her home and she is amazed by the amount of water it collects. She also uses it with a humidity monitor. The outside levels of humidity don't help and various issues can affect humidity within the home. Central heating can help a bit and good ventilation is vital. See: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/property/advice/9614700/What-is-the-recommended-humidity-for-a-home.html and have a google.
  13. There might be some special events on this weekend (at the Horniman) that they'd enjoy.
  14. How about the Horniman? - lots of things to do and see inside and out. Lots of room outside to drain energy! http://www.horniman.ac.uk/
  15. Don't, when I first moved in last May the sitting room was over 70%! It took a few days worth of continuous use of the dehumidifier to bring it down. It should really be in the 40s-early 50s, but it is rare for my flat to hit the 40s. I cope with the 50s and put the dehumidifiers on when over 60%.

Robert Poste's Child Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Can I ask which dehumidifier you have, mancity68? > Could be what I need but I'm not sure about > running costs and also noise, as they're not all > silent it seems. I have my CH on intermittently now - high ceilings and large rooms are difficult to keep warm in this odd weather and the damp/cold goes straight into my dodgy knees like needles. RPC - I have two DeLonghi Tasciugo Ariadry Multi dehumidifiers (one for sitting room and one for bedroom - heavy to move for me). They are good workers and not too noisy (depending on which setting you have them on). My place has a problem with damp/humidity and I use them when I get into 60-65% humidity plus to bring it down into the 50%s. I monitor the humidity levels with a temperature & humidity monitor as there is a problem here.
  18. So pleased he was found and looked after in time. Hope he continues to rally.
  19. Thanks Jennys. Yes, that was one of the first things I did. Hermes have been useless and am hoping the seller has more luck with them!
  20. Did anyone at the Horniman end of Underhill Rd kindly accept a parcel (box) for 8A at about 6pm yesterday (Wednesday) evening? I did not get a card from Hermes, but when I checked online it was recorded as delivered to a safe place, namely 'reception' - no address or other indication of location. I checked with Bradbury Oak House this morning being the only local neighbour with a reception, but they do not have it. Have contacted Hermes, but not hopeful that they'll be that helpful...
  21. Oh God, how awful. Has he checked all the usual vets and rescue centres?
  22. I recently had a Dimplex electric heater for the bathroom fitted as last winter the bathroom got verry chilly. I can turn it on for 5-120 minutes and warm up the bathroom at will: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dimplex-FX20V-Wall-Mounted-Heater/dp/B000BNDGF2
  23. Glad to hear all is well.
  24. Any news?
  25. Super news! Beautiful cat.
