  1. yes - and then you go home and think of all the clever things you could have said but didn't. But actually saying nothing is best.
  2. There was a time where 16 was beginning to be seen as the age of majority - not anymore and certainly not in the united states where anyone under 21 is now seen as basically a child. The best response is to act as if the person is not there.
  3. A suitcase full of bottles wine from the Co-Op :) No10 really was having a ball.
  4. The defence now is he thought it was a work event.
  5. Yes but if you disobey you get a directive against you https://www.euractiv.com/section/politics/short_news/polish-government-vows-to-scrap-taxes-on-gas/ We apply it at 5% (which the EU allows) and Boris has said reducing that would be a "Blunt Instrument" so it's staying for now
  6. More Xmas cards, a delivery from early December and an NHS screening kit (not covid).

It is a Value Added thing for those who use too much but not for those who need it. Maybe somehow redesign VAT for those who actually use energy for decadent things - but then it won't get in much cash.
  8. What's Dom doing these days - he seems to be having trouble shopping with the number of shopping trolleys on his blog.

Whatever the judge directs or the evidence is the Jury still have an right to acquit for whatever reason they see fit. Do people feel we should change that ?

LOL thats what my parents did for years - cards everywhere hung on the walls. And then we collected holly and Ivy and that went everywhere too.

Attorney General is looking at some sort of appeal where judges direct the jury but juries don't have to follow direction of the judge anyway. The secret barrister had a good thread on this earlier. https://thesecretbarrister.com/2022/01/06/do-the-verdicts-in-the-trial-of-the-colston-4-signal-something-wrong-with-our-jury-system-10-things-you-should-know/

if you cross the line you get arrested but you can still have the right to a trial where the jury make a decision. Juries get things wrong but it's our system and it works in general. In USA they'd probably be pressurised into a plea bargain before trial.

You're gambling on the Jury - but if they all hated Heath I very much doubt someone would get away with damaging Thatcher, Heath etc. Blair could be interesting

Brian Moore (Rugby & Twitter fame) said many times defendants gain the sympathy of the Jury and sometimes get off (he was a Solicitor). it really can depend on the Jury and the defence team/defendant as much as the truth.

I've seen cases reported where the Judge directs the jury to find guilty and they still find Not guilty - the jury decision stands.
  23. I looked at askmygp.uk that Tessa Jowell GP Surgery uses as an online portal. "Following National Guidance we will be temporarily ceasing all non-urgent/non-essential activity and redeploying the majority of our staff into the covid vaccination program until the week commencing 10th January. Any patient with an urgent presenting complaint, or potentially serious underlying and unmet clinical need, will still be assessed, managed, and referred onwards as appropriate. Any patient with symptoms that are suspicious of cancer, or is concerned that they may have cancer, will be assessed, managed, and referred onwards if appropriate. Any routine care that can be safely postponed will be rescheduled until the new year or signposted to NHS 111 online for self-care advice, or to local community pharmacy. "
  24. Best Wishes DF I had Tramadol after an op in Kings about 10 years back - I saw all the warnings but got away with it.

You have to tell your insurance company too - even if you don't claim.
