  2. Anyway no mail until the 4th now. https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12556/~/service-update
  3. Jesus also turned water into wine so he has no problem with me drinking it.

Unfortunately they'll very quickly realise its mainly tat. I order expensive stuff but it is always handed to me - and I'll track it if I can (although the tracking recently is awful).
  5. That was not a police court case against the man (the CPS does that anyway) - he took it to court (or someone did on his behalf). Any interaction with the police can end up being recorded not just convictions or cautions or incidents - it's just that that info will only be searched in certain circumstances.
  6. Called "Porch Piracy" Its even made The Guardians Pass Notes https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/dec/06/porch-piracy-wave-of-doorstep-parcel-thefts-sweeping-uk In the USA they use "Porch Pirate Bags" locked to the front door (although I suspected something nastier maybe available like a bear trap being the good old US).

I usually get delivery to my flat door whilst others get their parcels left at the front entrance.
  8. I think that Liz Truss is in it for the Selfies.
  9. Too much #johnsonout and #dickout hashtags on twitter. Could the issue of Crown Immunity be being used by the government here - they won't say so but the Police know its there. Years (30 or so) ago I remember working for a public body that talked about using Crown Immunity for all sorts of stuff - they couldn't in the end.

You or the SP can play with SNR/DLR as much as you like to get a few more K but youre stuck with that order of magnitude until FTTC or FTTP becomes available. On FTTP - We had FTTP put into our block this year with the fibres running along the corridors and then someone came along to put fire safety stuff in the ceilings and broke the fibres LOL.
  11. Darren Grimes has been selling Brexit again -> "Its been a year since the the Brexit Deal was agreed.... Has anyone starved to death? No"
  12. This article sort of explains the local FTTC cabinet issue but its from 2016 https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2016/09/openreach-bt-handles-full-capacity-fttc-broadband-cabinets.html According to recent information released by Openreach to ISPs, at the time of writing some 1,970 out of 77,033 live cabinets were full to capacity and awaiting upgrades (around 2.6%) This forum question sort of explains the issue too and gives a link to test which if on entering your postcode says "waiting list" for the VDSL entry - your local cab is full https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Fibre-broadband/my-local-cabinet-is-full/td-p/2117843 BT Link to test by postcode https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome

  14. Why did we not sit in EFTA/EEA for a few years and make a choice from there - you know good old British caution and pragmatism. It was after the "Citizens of Nowhere" speech where the country split into 2 groups with no quarter given between them - I blame Mays advisors for that - and one of them at least still thinks he did nothing wrong.

    Xmas Parties

Kay Burley seems out to throw her old sparring partner Matt Hancock under a bus - pick him up and throw him under another one. I'm sure she's not taking pleasure from it :)
  16. Sometimes a cabinet is full and you can only get basic ADSL rather than FTTC You'd think Openreach could do something but ..
  17. diable rouge Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Are you feeling ok Daily Express?... > https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1534017/UK-trade > -data-post-Brexit-GDP-EU-evg That must have been sneaked into the Express by a Mirror writer
  18. I thought static shock al la Marks and Sparks - but charring of body A shock doesn't always kill you - I remember my dad being thrown across the room after drilling into a cable long before we all checked before drilling - it can have potential after effects.
  19. Boris today has said WFH if you can. I don't think its the apocalypse with Omicron but its being careful. I really don't understand why Zoom or Teams can't be used when working from home - they work.
  20. He hates sacking people But I think he'll have to sack a few more soon.

    Xmas Parties

The only investigation will be the party on the 18th December - the other parties won't be investigated. Dom Cummings has been talking about one on the 13th November (along with indecipherable trolley stuff).

By Allegra - Don't think she was the biggest culprit here.
  23. At this time of year my guess would be something to do with Christmas Trees or similar

    Dr.Who

"Flux" - it's just chaos to me. I don't even remember the torture scene - maybe I fell asleep. The dog was quite good.. I'll stick to Chucky - at least I know what he wants ;)

    Xmas Parties

Well I popped down the pub last weekend and it was full of youngsters - I was the oldest person there - no masks (everybody drinking of course). I guess a few of us have been to the pub. On trains and shops I always wear a mask - I would if just to keep everyone else happy.
