Seems to be true after checking - not a change in the law but a precedent case set by judges https://www.theguardian.com/law/2016/jan/15/high-court-rejects-challenge-to-householder-defence-law With my Celtic temperament I'd try not to go down that route because I'd be afraid of not seeing the line once I went off on one - I'd chuck the kitchen sink at them, then the bath and then the toilet (in films don't forget they always get up again).

Ooh I don't know. I get Sainsburys vouchers every shop but they know I won't use them by the expiry date as I'd be spending way too much on food if I did. Never tried using out of date ones. But generally companies give in if you push it (usually under 'good will')- I argued for my car park fine to be waived (and they did) whilst most people I know say I deserved it.

The police and CPS have to go through the motions - I think the law says also that for a self defence defence you need to feel in imminent danger for your life.

Denmark Hill station entrance shambles
JohnL replied to Ginster's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The Thameslink travelling north yesterday stopped at Denmark Hill - told everyone that there was going to be huge delays and everybody should get off as there was a fatality at Cricklewood (I and a few others didn't) and then proceeded in to central London faster than normal. (OK it happens and fatalities on the railway are never nice). But a train full of extra people dumped on the platform at Denmark Hill at peak time. I'd have thought keep them on until Elephant even if there were delays ? -
Antifa don't really exist as an entity in the UK We would say The Anti Fascist League (being British)

Electing a President would take away power from the political parties in Westminster - rather than winning an election by voting for MPs we'd vote directly for a person (and it wouldn't be May, or probably not Corbyn either )

I've got to say, as I've got older I care less and less what class people think I am (or other things). Difficult to say for sure if it's me or the world or both.

I see what you mean as neither side will change what they are saying - but there can be no proof that the public can know now I'd think (intelligence sources would be compromised)

and Porton Down has now confirmed the country of origin cannot be established anyway. Russia is going to have a field day. https://news.sky.com/story/porton-down-experts-unable-to-identify-precise-source-of-novichok-that-poisoned-spy-11315387 "Other inputs were used to implicate Russia"

I get the feeling Russia is still trying to push the Botulism line Ironically it's the most deadly poison of the lot.

Someone covering up EU flags on cars
JohnL replied to flocker spotter's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Under this story they did write (eventually) "* Well done to everyone who spotted this was our April Fool?s story for 2017. The five big clues were: 1. It was published at 00:01, Sat, Apr 1. 2. The author was Flora Olip. An anagram of?April Fool! 3. The European Highways Commission (EHC) doesn?t exist. 4. Wateen Gekkehuis is Dutch for ?What a Madhouse!? 5. The Foundation of British Motorists doesn?t exist either. Other than that, as many of you have already pointed out, the story is only half as bonkers as many genuine EU policy decisions?so watch this space!" -
Anyway when it comes to racism it seems Jeremy Corbyn is now talking to the Judean Peoples Front instead of the Popular Front of Judea or the Peoples Front of Judea and this is a huge insult to everybody. (I know it's more complex than that and I'm going to find out who JewDas really are later) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-43624231

Hooray. That's Nippon I think - we used that way back in the 70's I remember (along with boiling water).

Those of us who work are working class IMHO :) Beware The System Resistance Network is not working class - it's probably an alias of National Action (a banned terror group). "National Action is a far-right neo-Nazi organisation based in the United Kingdom. Founded in 2013, in December 2016 it was proscribed as a terrorist group by the UK government." "System Resistance Network (SRN) is a group that is believed to have been putting up homophobic and anti-refugee posters in Dundee, Swansea, Cardiff and Bristol and is claimed by Hope Not Hate to be another alias of National Action" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Action_(UK)

I caught another - the third. As I'm in a flat I'm filling gaps I see (pipes etc) with wire wool, but looks like I'll have to pull out the fridge/washing machine/dishwasher to do this properly. One mouse came out from under the oven too that'll be more difficult :(

I'm not going to trust British Gas figures but I agree it's very doubtful Putin would do this. He has his own (sad) problem at the moment with the fire in Kemerovo. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/27/world/europe/russia-kemerovo-fire.html

Michael Palaeologus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Isnt this some sort of 21st Century press-gang? > Kidnapping strapping boys for a Naval life of rum, > sodomy and the lash? Just before the first gulf war my boss was a navy guy who had just left a post as "chief" (think its the highest NCO rank). He suggested us young lads might like to join up and fight (and mentioned we might not get a choice) - the immediate indignant refusals to fight by the entire group was telling :) -

I knew we hardly used any gas from > Russia, but I hadn't realised it was quite as low > as 1% of our total gas imports. British Gas (who are just one provider) have a different diagram. Europeaan pipelines aren't under our control - so if Russia reduces gas maybe there'll be less for all https://www.britishgas.co.uk/the-source/our-world-of-energy/energys-grand-journey/where-does-uk-gas-come-from

HMS Ocean decommissioned - excluding the new carriers that's the Navy's biggest ship isn't it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-43541209 Edit: was announced in 2015 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-34909649

Maybe I'm too cynical - a lot of the write ups are taking him seriously - the physical evidence given to the committee wasn't shared so maybe it backs him up. They had a private chat with him at the end too.

Here's the "my predecessor died" story. If he told me that in the pub I'd laugh and buy another round but not believe a word of it. :) http://uk.businessinsider.com/cambridge-analytica-whistleblower-christopher-wylie-illegal-trump-brexit-2018-3
