  2. I think a sub plan of the 20 mph is to get people off the roads I only drive now if I'm shopping and its to much without a car. Edit: maybe even paving the way for electric cars ... or self driving ones :)

Does speed decrease journey times in London though - or does it just get you to the next bottleneck quicker.
  5. I used to wonder what the freight train that goes up the Thameslink line every morning carried - nuclear fuel, chemicals. I got close enough the other day to see the labels on the carriages - and it was full of Bottled Water(or thats what the labels said).
  6. Maybe its this (from Southwarks FAQ) "13. Will the scheme clutter the borough with signs? We will seek to minimise street clutter as much as possible. The new 20 mph signs will be placed on existing posts or street lighting columns (lamp posts) where possible, instead of on new posts. We will also aim to keep ?repeater? signs including road markings to a minimum in accordance with Department of Transport guidance" I like street lighting columns :)

They might not be after it - but if I was a ne'er do well looking for bank details I'd offer them a few pounds to pass anything on. Which means my mum was right about shedding everything :(
  8. There seems to be no official drop off area in Peckham Rye. Yet on Rye Lane people stop to chat to their mate for 10 minutes :)

  10. Huge similar threads on various consumer sites on getting Sky to reduce TV subscriptions to existing customers when they offer new customers all kinds of breaks Some people seem to get perpetual half price TV - but you seem to have to be prepared to walk away - and even lose it for a month or so.
  11. Statistically people who have just passed there tests are most likely to do silly things Older people may have eyesight issues - which is already dealt with I think.

"I'll be late tonight as I'm working undercover in XXXXX bar"
  13. Pedestrians in the road ALWAYS have priority whatever the circumstance and however irresponsible they have been. Or do you not stop ??

If the guy was worried by the cyclist and then got pr-occupied with it - that fits into Boris's claims that drivers are finding it increasingly difficult driving on roads full of cyclists 20 mph coming if not separation I'd think.
  15. Also the horn is to warn people not to signify annoyance https://www.askthe.police.uk/content/Q406.htm

I edited my post above anyway - because noticed admin was not happy with the 2008 thread :) But yes - I am a bit "not on my doorstep" now - anti social behaviour moves on and we forget it. Junction of Rye Lane and Heaton Road is a magnet though for as long as I can remember :(. It was where the Peckham terminator did his bit before my time here. I'm sure that cleaning up the anti-social behaviour stops the worse behaviour mentioned on this thread.
  17. There has been bad behaviour by certain people in Rye Lane, Peckham and parts of ED since 2008 - and thats when I moved here. Remember this is our home.

Take care of the small stuff and the big stuff goes away. One particular "beggar" tried to sell me Ketamine before Xmas too (why anyone would want that!!) Edit: so maybe "street hustlers" would be a more appropriate name than beggar.

Not lower profile as I read it - but those with access to children were targeted - others may never be prosecuted as website was described as below prosecution level initially. "The nudity-only nature of the Azov Films material caused it to be classified in the U.K. as level 1 on the COPINE scale for rating images of children, i.e. , generally beneath the threshold of legal interest." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_International_child_pornography_investigation The police used the number 50,000 people in the scenario for Operation Spade.
  20. Probably a bit of money in the employer cycle buy schemes (cyclescheme.co.uk). Balfes were listed when I got mine and checking the map Evans are too - and Rat Race Cycles in Nunhead.

Uniformed Police on Rye Lane too. Moved the persistent beggar on this Saturday from outside Tescos.

Conspiracy, or lack of. It's a virtual copy of putting chalk symbols on doors in a way.
  23. Has anyone noticed that United States banknotes always have a number on them - and it's often in denominations.
  24. Key of the door
  25. We have a load of car garages and as cycling gets more and more popular it might surpass cars :) There's room for Kwik Fit and Turners
