  1. Schools are as safe as anybody else he says - but you just suspect he'll row back on this as logically a teacher in a class of children is not as isolated from the virus as me alone in my flat.

I noticed most of the other countries had repeat orders whilst we didn't when they were published before Xmas. I think we are banking on the Oxford vaccine - we might be lucky
  3. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/tougher-coronavirus-measures-boris-johnson-lockdown-b674102.html Why does he do this (warn of a lockdown) - it just makes panic.
  4. Hancock seemed reinvigorated this morning. ?Each week we look at all of the areas of the country to check that we are in the right position in terms of the tiers,? he said. ?It is a very difficult situation in terms of the growth of the virus.? It's like the UK is a petri dish. Also "the Government?s key ?Covid-O? committee that oversees restrictions was expected to report on Monday to decide changes to the tiered coronavirus regime." If only the government could fight viruses with committee names.
  5. Typical Boris "truths" (posted above in bold) - reminiscent of his old days spaffing about bendy bananas but this time it's important. On Pulse Fishing it seems he postponed any ban to link it with leaving the EU/End of transition period.
  6. One serious point on this - One of our Councillors is quite active against primary teachers returning to school on the 4th (he seems to have won this point as primary teachers in London won't be returning for 2 weeks at least). I think there is a difference on this point since the virus mutated but seems to be a lot of argument and the government don't want to postpone term but it seems they have to.
  7. Farage meanwhile is having a spat with the Chinese https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/brexit-news/westminster-news/brexit-party-leader-christmas-twitter-spat-china-daily-6861676 It's interesting that the Chinese should be taking note of Farage - maybe they see him as someone they should keep tabs on.

But sure - these are the smart guys IDS said we should all become Buccaneers - So I'm off to get some Pieces of Eight and a Parrot.
  9. We're sort of going to guess the time between jab1 and jab2 which isn't what the manufacturers recommend https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/01/health/coronavirus-vaccines-britain.html?referringSource=articleShare. Not to say it won't work and I know Blair was one of those suggesting this but ...

It was long long ago but Datsun comes to mind - but it was everything in the 1970s Edit: Of course my dad worked for British Steel and I grew up with every Datsun being mocked as my dad passed it in his MARINA :)
  11. This morning Sky News reported (source I don't know) that some would be happy with a leveling down of London and the South East.
  12. This is rather ominous ?Populists depend on enemies, real or imagined, to legitimise their actions and deflect from their own shortcomings,? she said. If the EU has been the ?enemy abroad? since 2016, it will steadily be replaced by ?enemies within?: MPs, civil servants, judges, lawyers, experts, the BBC. ?Individuals and institutions who dare to limit the power of the executive, even if it is just by asking questions, are at constant risk of being denounced as ?activists?? by the Johnson government, Von Bismarck said.
  13. These European commentators seem to see trust as having been lost https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/dec/31/the-view-from-europe-uk-taken-over-by-gamblers-liars-clowns-and-their-cheerleaders Although that could be said to be Boris and his friends in the media rather than Brexit.

TheCat Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Fair comment. > > The US innovates, Asia duplicates and Europe > regulates. > > As the old business idiot goes. > > Let's hope we try for something in the middle of > some of those.... Shows how old I am - UK was the innovative one when I was young and the US took those ideas and scaled them up. "Made in Japan" was ridiculed as cheap LOL

Hmm When you hear a benefit of redundancy is continued healthcare for 3 months it chills you a bit living with the NHS all your life.

  17. DFs post is exactly what Boris used to post to the Telegraph when he worked in Brussels - Most of it was proved to have been made up in the pub when he'd had 5 or 6 pints. True Story :) Edit: The bit with Boris and the Telegraph and the beer is true. The posts in the telegraph were much worse than anything DF posts.
  18. Clutterqueen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Boris has been > doing his best to get us through this pandemic and > now has to deal with the Brexit issue. > He hasn't though - he's coasting, he might be ill with long covid mind. The gloating and lies in parliament are atrocious in my opinion - he should take questions to him seriously and answer them properly.
  19. Nice link - I've never really controlled my Alexa however - I got it to switch lights (Hue) on and off and the TV but they're built for it and Samsungs are quite easy to set-up She's been saying "You're a great friend" all year and today I replied "Alexa You're a great friend" - she was obviously waiting for this as she played the theme tune from Friends.
  20. My family one (Gower) resigned too. Not sure why they needed to tbh. Would they really be sacked ?
  21. Sky coverage ends just as Theresa May got a bit bitter that Labour didn't vote for her deal.
  22. that's fair comment.
  23. Yes - I'm glad to hear that (if we can deliver). I missed Kay Burley though - he wasn't really pushed like she used to do it :) Huge numbers of vaccinations required apparently - something like 1 million a week. We need a good organiser (any recommendations)

They'll continue their agenda Death penalty Anti abortion Anti LGBT and "woke" Rollback devolution Anti-EU (trying to get others to leave) edit: There's probably a few more - like knighting Darren Grimes LOL
  25. If you listen to Sky News now you can realise what a mess our democracy has become. Rather than a serious debate it's just trolling and gloating.
