  1. Surely 3 is the magic number (I'll get my coat)...
  2. You can't play Burlington Original rules in a month with less than 31 days. It would have to be a variation, or something like Montague?s Second Revision of the rules.

HP see my message above for the latest on bags: Sort of an update for anyone (like me) who relies on the garden waste bags (which are conspicuously absent from the garden waste options on the Southwark website). That service (ordering and paying for bags and arranging for them to be collected) has also not yet been launched but they do expect to have it in place this month - the suggestion is that it should be sorted in 2 weeks. Not holding my breath, but the manager who called me was very clear they know they need to get this sorted well in advance of 1 August.

  5. I hear you - but we?ve lived here for over 10 years and people have been pushing TFL to do something about that junction for longer than that. It is nothing short of a miracle that they?ve finally agreed to listen and risk slowing down traffic (which has been their 100% driver to date). So I?ll take 2020!
  6. 1921, it?s TFL that have responsibility for the junction - not Southwark. This is the response from TFL - you can follow the link through to the detailed output.
  7. There are a couple of people on LL (near corner with Pellat) who have drilled holes/locks into their bins - presumably because they are fed up of people walking past and stuffing rubbish in. I think about doing this every time a flat in the block next door moves out, doesn't have enough space in their own bins so dumps everything in ours until they are full to overflowing (we have the slim-line bins not the normal sized ones as we're a small household). Then I take a deep breath and figure it's only once every three to six months or so and live with it. I imagine some people will do the same with their brown bins if neighbours use them without asking.
  8. Try London Beekeepers in Kennington. http://www.lbka.org.uk/swarms.html

  11. Mine also emailed and in junk folder.

They suggested you contact Harvester? The pub hasn't been a Harvester for a while, well before it closed - the pubco which has the lease on the Grove is Stonegate as far as I recall (see https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/residents-want-answers-future-dulwichs-old-grove-tavern/).
  13. It's going to be online - suspect the button isn't full active yet but you can see it here and leave your details: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/bins-and-recycling/garden-waste-collection-subscriptions
  14. As others have said, Dulwich Estate is the freeholder and has been trying to redevelop the site for housing for a while. There is apparently still a current pubco leaseholder but hasn?t been active at the site since the fire. Def start with the Dulwich Estate office.

    Diversity

I was intrigued enough to read the article and it seems pretty clear to me that what is being referred to - in the context of an entire article about the appointment of the first black leader of a political party, entitled "We?re not just for middle class white women" - when Mandu Reid says she would venture that the WEP has a more diverse list of candidates than any other party, she's talking about representing women of colour, the LGBTQAI community, women with disabilities or other impairments and women from diverse social classes. You may not agree with what the WEP is trying to do (although it sounds like you do) but cherry picking a sentence in an article without context to make a point seems an odd way to do it. I also agree that most of the evidence suggests that diverse workplaces make more successful and more productive long term value creating businesses (in contrast, having a more diverse workplace seems to restrict short term strategies and gains which is often held up as examples of why women don't succeed as much in business). But in a politics context, what the WEP are trying to do is balance up the representation of women in a system which is already skewed significantly against them in terms of numbers - as are groups like Women2Win (which is the Conservative group trying to do pretty much the same thing). Are you suggesting that the WEP needs to put forward male candidates in order to meet their aim of improving the number of women representatives in Parliament?
  17. I was just reminded that I hadn't posted any follow up on Moggie Minders - it all worked out really well. Even our nervy cat seemed to settle well and was fine for the week. Really liked the way that the cattery is run and kept clean and managed.
  18. We just used Moggie Minders in Catford - first time our cats had ever been in a cattery as they normally get looked after at home. MM is small, really tightly run and seems to have a very loyal clientele (so can get busy). It all worked out really well - one of our two is very nervy - but both of them were fine and settled in really well. We'll use them again if we need a cattery.

@Jules-and-Boo It's not so much who is in favour of leave or remain as even those advocating for a second referendum agree that we would leave if the vote went that way in the follow up plebiscite [the first and probably the last time I ever get to use that word!]. However, according to today's FT: BREX: Leave as soon as possible by all means necessary, including with a no-deal Brexit. LAB: Leave with a deal, not the current withdrawal deal proposed by the Prime Minister but with the aim of ultimately remaining in a customs union with the EU and within the single market. CON: Officially, the current withdrawal deal, but not supported by the entire party. GRN: Second referendum LDEM: Second referendum UKIP: Not mentioned by the FT. CHUK: Second referendum This is pure gossip but I had dinner with a civil servant yesterday who reckons Labour and the Conservatives are close to agreeing Labour support for the current withdrawal deal in exchange for a political declaration to work towards a customs union with the EU during the transition period. In which case we wouldn't be involved in the European elections at all and Brexit day would happen very soon without a second referendum. To be really clear this person has no inside knowledge, but that was their best guess of what would happen.
  20. It's incredibly sad but also positive that so much of the structure has been saved and there will be a renewed focus on proper restoration (the current restoration works having been held up for years). The damage doesn't sound much worse than happened following the York Minster fire in the 80s (but on a bigger footprint) and the restoration there has been incredible. Sure the same will happen in Paris now.

None of > these roads showed a clear majority in favour of a > CPZ, with some clearly against a CPZ, so it seems > unfair to impose one on them. And that approach would also be consistent with the pledge mentioned - that no area that did not want a CPZ would have one imposed on them. 12 streets in the proposed zone did not want a CPZ but one is being imposed on them. And a significant majority of the 33 streets were not positively in favour of a CPZ, so your suggestion would seem fair and most consistent with the pledge you mention. What I'm more surprised at is the differential charging for diesel vehicles - how can that be justified on parking pressure grounds? I don't drive a diesel, so no direct interest, but how can Southwark justify that recommendation on the basis of a CPZ consultation where it wasn't even raised as an issue or a possibility? Genuinely interested to understand the basis for the differential charging in the context of a CPZ consultation.
  22. singalto Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Who is surprised? And diesel cars have to pay more > to park? I hadn't picked that up until you posted that - on what basis does charging diesel drivers more for the paid parking have anything to do with parking pressure? Surely that's well out of remit? I don't drive a diesel so have no skin in that game but it seems to conflate two totally different issues.
  23. I'm really surprised, looking at the size of the proposed area and the abutment to Lordship Lane that the recommendation is for all day restrictions.
  24. 2 police cars and a van in attendance just now as I went past.
